This is the updated version of my old disposal so installation was pretty simple as all the plumbing matched up. I did have a little trouble knocking the plug out of the dishwasher hook up, but eventually got it out and finished soon after that.

Worked well for 3 years and then started leaking where the top and bottom are screwed together. Should have lasted 5-10 years minimum. Warranty is only 1 year.

It works great & does what it should. But I learned the hard way that it was time to replace my old Badger unit when it sprang a leak at the bottom & soaked through my under-sink cabinet floor before I realized there was a problem. I’d like to challenge InSinkErator to come up with some kind of warning system - maybe a way for a leak to cause a short to make owner look under sink to see whassup - or maybe a tray attached to unit underside that signals with a bad smell, or shorts the unit, when the tray gets wet.. something! Anything! It took me about 8 hrs total to notice problem, remove the soaked warped cabinet floor, contact InSinkErator, order unit. watch a couple DIY installation videos, buy the stupid wire clamp [come on, InSinkErator - include that with the new unit!! I’m going to backtrack and downgrade you for cheaping out on that 25cent detail!!], remove old unit, install new unit and wash up. It’ll take me another several hours (5? That’s optimistic...) to design, shop for & rebuild the under-sink cabinet floor - & waterproof it better!!!

Purchased this one to replace another installed 13 years ago. Seals went bad in the other but 13 years is good service. Easy to install. Has all you need except the wiring. I did not use the older cord -purchased a new one. If I can get half the service as the first, it's a good deal.

Easy to install to prior existing Badger. Upgraded from 1/3 to 3/4 HP.. Not loud or quiet operation- gets the job done. Too early to know how long it will last. Previous Badger lasted about 6-7 years- hope this one lasts longer! Would buy another Badger in the future.

        Just right
I had the same one installed and it broke on me after 6 month of owning the house. the new one is more quiet and the installation was super simple. The only problem I had was that I was expecting a power cable without plug and this one had a plug so I have to cut and wire it. Is the first time I replace one and I'm happy with the results.

            THE BEST!!
Took a chance at saving money and decided to install myself rather than hire a plumber to remove the old an install the new. IT WAS A SNAP! A child could have done it. It's powerful, efficient and purrs like a kitten. If this one ever goes on me, I'm just going to replace it with the same model and now that I see how easy it is, I can do it in 30 minutes or less.

It came ready to install. Since it replaced a same brand and model number, it was done in no time.

The walls give up shortly after the warrantee expires, either leaking water from small pin holes or large vertical cracks.

I replaced my old disposal (the InSinkErator Badger 1, 1/3 HP) with this model (InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP), and it was a breeze! My old model worked really well, and we've had it for 7 1/2 years. This model popped right into the old one's place with very minimal effort, and works beautifully!

When it does not fail it is a great product
I rated in Overall Rating and Quality only fair because the previous one, same brand and product started to leak from the motor casing.. It did not leak from water connections or any other place. It started to leak about a couple of years after we bought it, and it would only leak a few drops occasionally. The under cabinet was always humid or wet. I checked for leaks several times with water faucets open and not a single drop was visible.. It was until I discovered the leak only happened when we operated the InSinkErator, And it happened accidentally because my wife operated the motor while I was checking for leaks, then I noticed it exactly on the backside, very difficult to find. I will attach a couple of pictures so you can see for yourself.

                  Excellent value.
My old Badger 5 rusted and leaked after many years of good service. I read the recommendations on which disposal I needed and went with the Badger 100. It was extremely easy to install except for replacing the power cord. I used the old cord and installed it in the new disposal. It works well, it is quiet and I’m extremely happy. Yes I would recommend it.

Product installed in about 90 minutes because I was replacing a similar badger product that was 17 years old. Most of the time was spent getting the old unit out and all of the mounting hardware was the same so I did not need that. It did come with mounting hardware if you do need it. There was only one part this unit did not have. The old unit was rusted and there is a piece that holds the power cord where it enters the unit. My old one rusted and the new one did not come with that part. I had to improvise but it's a simple electrical flush mount. The unit runs quietly and effectively.

It's only been 3 years and I have to replace it again. Forth one in 20 years and I never put garbage in it, only flush dish water 3 times a week. Started making lots of noise with nothing in it and then froze. The bearing housing buckled about 3.5 degrees.

Although we installed it 8 years ago, we did not use it much as we compost our food waste. To my surprise, the disposal completely rusted and started leaking a few weeks ago. I would have expected the motor to fail but this thing rusted as it were not galvanized. I did not replace it and instead chose to connect the sink drain directly to the trap. If you decide to go this route, you will need a flexible trap or a flexible adapter to make up for the difference in width (1 1/2 pipe to whatever the disposal is). Spent about $25 including pipe cement/primer. Bye bye disposal forever.

                          Great Product
We just finished a kitchen remodel which included a Badger 1 garbage disposal. Our kitchen design included a sink base cabinet with a revise drawer, (a pull out drawer on the bottom) which would limit space for a disposal. The size of the Badger 1 was perfect. Reviews spoke about higher than normal noise levels but since the size was the most importance feather we purchased one. Bottom line is its easy to install, a quality product, plenty of power, and quieter than the one we replaced, I can find no fault with it, and would recommend it.

This unit installed quickly and with little difficulty in a new sink. The 1/2-HP unit runs more quietly than the 1/3-HP unit in our home kitchen sink.

This was a replacement unit. The first one serviced me very well, such that when I needed to replace the unit, my first choice was the Badger 5. I also purchased the "plug" accessory kit and it was easy to install and made the unit easier to install.

The product arrived at my residence damaged, presumably in shipping. It had a dent along the edge of the metal bottom of the unit. It must have had to taken quite a rap to dent that metal. After trying to return it unsuccessfully to Home Depot, I installed it and it was quite noisy. I exchanged it at Home Depot at no further cost for their Badger 500 (technically the same model as the Badger 5). This unit is working perfectly. It would be nice to be assured that this was a shipping problem only and that Insinkerator Company doesn'the try to pawn off inferior products on-line at a lower price.

Bought this to swap out our old Badger which had rusted through. Didn't need to replace the collar, so this was a simple plug and play. Hardest part was removing the dishwasher output hose from the old unit. Don't forget to buy a Power Cord Accessory Kit as it's not included. Youtube videos walk you through the process of replacing the unit. No difference in performance, sound level, etc.
