Bought the zircon hd70 a while ago, just used it today(7-10-23) and it is absolutely useless. 'Detects' studs where there are none, doesn't detect studs that are present, tons of false readings. A magic 8 ball would give you more accurate results. Huge waste of time and $$

Don't waste your money
Yikes. If you need a stud finder, don't waste your money on this one. Just go ahead and spend more to get one that works. This product is embarrassing for Zircon.

Quite often these issues have to do with the environment you’re operating on and knowing why the tool is reacting to density changes that may not be studs. My old cheap finder was really flakey and made a simple shelf hang job overly messy and frustrating. A friend recommended the Zircon and it worked great. Job done in 10 minutes! Great tools make life so much easier.

Accurate Basic Stud Finder
This stud finder is a good, basic finder. It accurately identifies the edges and center of the studs. It warns if there are live electrical wires. The caveat is that, if there is no current running through the wires or if the wires are running through a conduit, it will not detect them. Just be aware that electrical outlets and light switches are almost always attached to a stud and that electrical wires will run up or down the length of the stud on the side to which the electrical box is attached. This stud sensor does not detect water pipes or drains. Be aware of where faucets and sinks are located on both sides of a wall before drilling or pounding in larger nails. Pressing the power button a second time after it is turned on will put it in DeepScan mode to detect studs through thicker materials such as wood paneling.

Don’t buy this stud finder spend a few extra dollars and get a better quality one. It beeps when there isn’t anything behind it.

Good for Studs Behind Drywall, but nothing else
This tool finds studs behind half inch drywall, but not joists under 5/8 inch thick plywood subflooring. The two second delay to ready itself to sense is annoying. For the price charged, I would have expected better performance.

Not working and returned. I drilled my brand new house...
Not working and returned. I drilled my brand new house wall many times. It messes where the stud is all the time and send false signal.
