I thought it would work better finding studs.

Does not work very well. You can run it over the surface and it says there's a stud. And then you repeat it and nothing happens. Very unreliable and was a waste of money.

It doesn’t work
, I made 8 holes when I only had to make 4, it doesn’t deg the wood well.

Quite often these issues have to do with the environment you’re operating on and knowing why the tool is reacting to density changes that may not be studs. Need to buy battery
Annoying this doesn’t come with a battery and kinda hinds that it doesn’t come with one. I get not including AA and AAA but who just keeps extra 9 v batteries around. Probably made in China for 5.00 and they are to cheap to include a battery.

I need to find studs to install a handrail for my grandfather, so that he could assist himself up and down off the toilet. It worked great now he feels safer. Thanks, Home Depot.

I need to use it on other areas of my house. The one wall I've used it on thus far, it was basically useless. It couldn't differentiate between sheetrock and stud and gave me significant fales positives. Eventually found the stud through simple trial and error.

Studs Jumping
This thing keeps telling me that my studs are moving in my walls. One moment the stud is in place A. I mark it then try again just to be sure and now it’s in place B.

I purchased this to replace a much older stud sensor. This one far exceeds the ability of the one it replaces. I was able to locate studs in 1" thick sheet-rocked & plastered walls with this unit.

After buying, trying, and returning several others…and AFTER several holes in my drywall, I finally found one that works. It’s pricey but it works. I did not return this model.

Completely useless
This device is almost completely useless. It beeps when there is no stud and doesn't beep when there is! My own discerning with tapping the wall and listening to the sound is much more accurate than this device.
