Let's get to the bottom of this! For the best results with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Removable Rubber Coating, we recommend applying 4 or more light coats to build up the desired coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. We also recommend allowing the coating to dry to a matte finish between each coat, or about 5 minutes. Rustoleum

Yikes, that's not what we like to hear, Lewis! For the best results with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Spray Paint, we recommend ensuring that the surface is thoroughly clean and dry. We also recommend lightly sanding glossy surfaces to create a surface profile. It is important to apply 4 or more light coats a few minutes apart, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth finish. The can also needs to be held 8-12" from the surface and kept in motion while spraying. Rustoleum

Something is amiss here! To help ensure an even flow with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Spray Paint, it is essential to thoroughly shake the can prior to each use and often during your application. We recommend applying 4 or more light coats, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. Rustoleum

Not as good as the other stuff. Goes on thinner, more likely to clot, more likely to run and harder to peel off. Not as forgiving of unprofessional application. Stay away when the better stuff stuff costs the same. Two stars because it does work, seems closer to spray paint, except that spray paint isn't intended to go on that thick. Essentially what you are doing is spraying a trash bag on a surface. So why something that takes more coats, is easier to mess up and harder to peel off if you get it wrong.

If only they had a minus star option, we did exactly as instructed to paint on rims did 7 light coats, and if you even touch it leaves smush marks not sure how these will drive down the road without lifting, scrufing and peeling off, and going through a car wash i'm sure they will be a mess. not durable, not strong, not long lasting, not worth spending all that careful time painting on and waiting between each drying time then another coat, what a waste I will be contacting rustoleum for a full refund. Now we have to spend hours removing it Great :( DO NOT BUY!! BAD PRODUCT!!!

I have used both Rustoleum and PlastiDip peelable paint and Rustoleum sprays a finer mist leading to a smoother, evener finish. It also does not clog the tip like PlastiDip tends to do.

Let's get to the bottom of this, Matt. Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Spray Paint is a rubberized coating designed for ultimate protection and customization with the unique option for removal. It is recommended to remove after 3 months or less. It is recommended to apply in an area with proper ventilation. Four or more light coats should be applied to build up the desired coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. Rustoleum

          Has its uses
This works but plan on it taking a while. You must use many, many, many thin coats to avoid runs and still get it thick enough to look nice. Also it's tough to keep the edges smooth when you take the tape off. In the end for cars at least it may be cheaper to buy pre-made striping. One 4" stripe down a rocker panel on small car takes more than 1 can. It does peel off really well and overspent just wipes off even after drying.

Let’s talk this through. Each can of Rust-Oleum FlexiDip has a recommended coverage of 8 square feet and the number of coats applied can affect this. We recommend applying 4 or more light coats to build the desired coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. Allow the coating to dry to a matte finish between coats. We also recommend removing any tape while the last coat is still wet. Rustoleum

I have used a similar product in the past, as nd thoght I eould give this a try since there was an available clear coat to go eith it. Worked great on the front of my car for winter paint protection. Anticipating easy removal in the spring.

                Nice cover
This paint covers nicely and appears to have good adhesion . I used this on a set of trailer wheels , & now they look great . Don't know how long this product will hold up since I haven't used the trailer yet, but definitely cheaper than buying new wheels . If I have to touch up later no biggie .

Something is amiss here. There are a few things to keep in mind when using Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Coatings. Four or more light coats of the base coat need to be applied about 5 minutes apart, followed by 1 medium coat. The clear coat can be applied once the base coat has dried. Apply one light coat, followed by 2-3 medium wet coats. Again, allow the coating to dry for 5 minutes between coats. Rustoleum

                  Splatter
No matter how much I shook it I kept getting droplets from the can. With regular paint that can be sanded out to some extent but not with plasti-dip. Very disappointed as a different brand did not have this issue at all.

Oh no! We don’t like to hear that Steve. Certainly it is important to thoroughly shake the can prior to use, and occasionally during use as well. The can should be shaken for no less than one minute after the mixing ball in the can begins to rattle. This ensures that the product is mixed well, and prevents larger particles from being sprayed through the nozzle.
You also want to make sure the finger that presses down on the nozzle stays clean and free of any paint. It is important to have your index finger centered on the nozzle itself. If your finger is too forward it can cause some blocking of the spray mist as it comes out of the can, which can cause sputtering or larger drops to be sprayed on the surface. Rustoleum

                  Absolute Garbage
Same price as plasti-dip, only plasti-dip won't remove paint from your rims as you apply it. this DESTROYED my rims. Luckily, they were pretty screwed up already, because if they weren't there would have been a really big issue. Immediately returned the unused cans, bought plasti-dip and applied it, which (mostly) covered up my horrendous mistake of buying this product. Get this junk off the shelves.

Thank you for reaching out Matt. Please keep in mind Rust-Oleum FlexiDip is designed for sound surfaces such as bare metal, plastic and glass surfaces. FlexiDip should be applied at a fairly thick rate. 4 or more light coats to build coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. Please keep in mind the coating will not be able to peel correctly if you are trying to peel too thin of a coat from the surface. If the coating is difficult to remove we suggest using Naptha to help with removal. Rustoleum

Trial and error proof and safe.
Best and safest way to trial and error for paint testing and and removal. Paint it, don't like it? Remove it without solvents or sanding simply by pulling it off after it dries. Can also make custom shades with this product by lite or heavy coats of other colors and yet still remove it without a big hassle, even when clear coat has been applied. In fact, the more paint or layers, the easier it is to remove if needed. Neat product, many uses and applications. *** Home depot price was $2 less than 3 other competitors I visited.

A lot better than plexi dip
Flexi dip actually turned out to be a lot better than plexi dip. Rust-Oleums product held up better and didn't tear or peel when I went through the car wash. To me, the matte black turned out great on my Z and the rims turned out pretty good with white. But the thing that impressed me the most, was that I didn't have to deal with and drips or runs. I say try it out and see what you think for yourself, but cut corners. Take your time and prep the area your going to spray......that's why it normally turns out looking bad for a lot of people.

                      Tricky
On paper, this is a great product idea with many potential uses. For me, I envisioned using the spray to create a heavy rubberized grip on a pump shotgun as well as the grip handles of some inexpensive air tools. In reality, my results were fairly mixed. Application is tricky. If you are a good, experienced spray painter you might have some good results. Patience is key. For me, I am not a natural painter, spray or otherwise, and I struggled to control the spray pattern and the drips. Misting the product on in many, light coats is the only method for success. By the third attempt, I was starting to get better, but I wasn't happy enough with the progress to justify running out and getting more spray. In the right hands, this could be very cool, but I think most consumers will struggle to get it right.
