Ever time i purchase and use a rustoleum paint product that has not been your normal spray paint they have failed. Their wrinkle paint failed. The tip clogged up and the wrinkle was bad. The flex dip did the same thing. I may have gotten 6in's of spray before the tip clogged up. Plastidip stepped up

Yikes, that's not what we like to hear! If the valve becomes clogged, we recommend twisting and pulling off the spray tip and rinsing in a solvent such as xylene or naphtha. You also want to ensure that you are following all dry and recoat times listed to ensure the best results with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Spray.

I've used the competitor product, PlastiDip, and it's superior. The Rustoleum product had nozzle clogging issues way before the can was half empty. I'll need another can to finish what I'm working on and will buy PlastiDip.

That was not the intention. Inside each can of Rust-Oleum Flexidip Spray is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there's not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint won't spray. Try turning the can upside down and spraying for a few seconds. If the clog is in the tip, soaking it in mineral spirits should clear it out. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

That is not what we like to hear, Rick. For the best results with Rust-Oleum Flexidip Spray, hold the can 8 to 12 inches from the surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply 4 or more light coats to build the desired coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth final film. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Thank you for your feedback! To help ensure an even flow with Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Removable Rubber Coating, it is essential to thoroughly shake the can before each use and to shake the can often during your application. This prevents pigments from settling at the bottom of the can.

The finished product was great - BUT, I purchased 5 cans and ever single tip clogged repeatedly throughout use. Every 5-10 seconds the tip would clog. I would have to remove it and blow into the bottom of the tip to clear the blockage. The cans were stored at room temp for 3 days prior to use. The temperature during use was in the 70s. The cans were shaken according to instructions.

Something is amiss here! For the best results with Rust-Oleum Flexidip Removable Rubber Coating, make sure to hold the can 8 to 12 inches from the surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke on to a properly prepared surface. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply 4 or more light coats to build the desired coating thickness, followed by 1 medium coat to achieve a smooth, final film. Allow the coating to dry to a matte finish (about 5 minutes) between coats. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Hmm, that doesn't sound right. Please keep in mind that this product is a temporary coating and we recommend allowing the product to fully cure for 7 to 10 days for the safety of the animals. Inside each can of Rust-Oleum Flexidip Spray is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there's not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint won't spray. I don't know if it was my fault or not...
I don't know if it was my fault or not but the application was a complete failure. I gave up after about 10 coats. I sprayed this over a primer and it just bubbled the primer up. No matter how many days I let it dry it just seemed to liquify more primer every time I sprayed the Flexidip. This in turn formed large cracks in the Flexidip coating. The rattle can didn't say anything about not using it over primer. I didn't try it on bare metal but that would be my suggestion to anyone who wants to try it. Oh and it must be bare metal as they do say it will not work on plated metal. The only conclusion I can draw is that I did something wrong as I am certain a company with the reputation of Rust-Oleum thoroughly tested this product before releasing it.

Oh no, something is amiss here, John! Keep in mind that we don't recommend using a primer with this product as it will affect the removal of the coating. It is important to ensure the surface is sanded and thoroughly cleaned with soap and water to ensure the best adhesion. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Our Rust-Oleum FlexiDip Black Removable Rubber Coating is a rubberized coating designed to be removable within 3 months after application. For the best results, we recommend applying 4 or more light coats to build up the thickness of the coating, followed by a final medium coat. Allow about 5 minutes between coats to prevent drips or runs. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

I read several reviews on this before purchasing most were good. I specifally was looking to compare this to plastidip. If you have a choice I recommend plastidip over this. The spray pattern on this is traditional round which may or may not be your prefrence. Platidip is a flat fan parttern which I prefer. The color on this is not as vibrant as the plastidip nor does it have a sheen. I also feel its less forgiving when applying being its thinner than plastidip. For those reasons I give 3 stars.
