The kit did the job as described but watching instructional video on the web definitely helped. The pins and keys worked well. The black plastic plug follower is a bit flimsy though with its edges getting deformed upon each use; I managed to rekey 3 deadbolt locks but I’d imagine it would be harder to do more using the same tool.

Don’t take apart the lock cylinder without using the provided tool! Springs and pins will fly everywhere, see video.

Good set, but be careful to follow instructions , so you don't lose the top pins and springs. The pins are for the keys in the kit.

Bought this to rekey my property but it wasted 2 hours of my time. The pins never got flush with the cylinder and I had to put the old pins back. Waste of time and money.

For whatever reason, the deadbolt lock assembly may not fit w/ the new key. The bottom edge of the key may "extend" beyond the lock assembly. It won't fit the housing - it's too tight and the key is very hard to turn...You can't remove the key. You have to file down the edge to get it to work. I had the same problem on half my locks. At first, I thought that it may be because a couple of my locks were old. I had the same problem on one of my newer locks. It might work, it might not.

Directions left much to be desired. ***Removing the cylinder is HIGH stakes.** If you don't get it perfect your cylinder will shoot out all the springs and pins and you will be completely screwed and most likely have to replace your lock. *This should be understood by anyone who is attempting this endeavor* Say multiple prayers and take great care when using cylinder removal too, good luck, I wish I just hired a locksmith instead of all this time and effort only to replace the locks and call the locksmith anyways

The re-key kit is easy to use, good instructions and color coded parts. Follow the directions and it went together well. The only issue I ended up with it that I wanted to re-key two locks, and keep 2 different keys. The kits I used, had key codes of 143 and 146. Silver and Gold key colors, and what I mistakenly thought was different key shapes. But once I completed the re-key, and verified the work, the same key opened both locks. Not enough variation in the keys.

This works great! I was able to make all my knobs and deadbolts use the same key. My pocket appreciates the smaller keychain. It’s pretty basic. It has some simple instructions, but you can look on YouTube for videos of how to re-pin Schlage locks. If you have to change a lot, you may need more pins, but I knew my locks had most of the same pins, just in different order.

The kit is simple enough, color coded pins, guide, follower, door pin and some useless tweezer things. Main thing is to be careful when you insert and remove the follower. Some lock configurations don't fit as snug against the cylinder housing and causes a slight gap that can unseat the spring pin. I wrecked the first one that I did but fortunately I had some old locks around that I was able to source a spring out of and repair the cylinder from the back side. Saved $145 doing it myself.

Key was literally the same as our prior key which we needed to change…how many key options do these companies sell? We felt very unsafe. Called a locksmith.

I bought this hoping to rekey an existing lock to some new locks, but the kit only comes with 5 sizes of pins (sizes 4 through 8). I needed a size 3 and 9 (check your key numbers), so this kit was useless. In fact, in my attempt, the lock core springs became damaged beyond repair and I had to buy a new lock altogether. If you want to rekey your locks to the keys that are included with the kit, then this will probably work for you, but not if you want to rekey to an existing key.

This is a great cost savings technique. Prime-Line also offers a replacement tumbler you can re-key that is superior to what is used in current Schlage locks in case your original comes apart and the springs pop out. I’d get one of these too if you’re doing several locks.

This kit did the job to rekey my Delaney Callan locks, though some of the pins in the kit were either too long or too short. Luckily in those instances I was able to reuse pins that were already in the knob. The metal tab tool was sort of worthless as its too wide at the forked end to fit into the Delaney knob to release the lockset from the knob. Maybe it works fine for Schlage sets? Additionally, the plastic tweezers are 100% junk. They are simply too weak and flimsy to properly hold onto anything. Overall it did the job for me and was way cheaper than hiring a locksmith, but it may not work well for everyone.

Except for the pins, every part of this was bad at its intended purpose and replaced with random junk from around the house after using them once.

Very easy re-key option. Far cheaper than a lock smith. Just read the directions and or watch the you-tube.

Junk that doesn’t work

Rekey kit worked perfectly. I was able to rekey all four of my locks. My only complaint was with the black slide tube being a little thick, so it wouldn’t slide into the spring-loaded cylinder part (sorry idk the technical name for that part). I had to take apart the spring-loaded part which was annoying but went back together easy enough. Now finally after 5 years of being in my home, all of the locks to my house utilize the same key! I’d highly recommend watching Prime-Lines’ instructional YouTube video if you’ve never taken apart a lock before. After watching the video, each lock took me about 15 mins to rekey.

Honestly, this is a terrible set. The colored pins did not correlate with the number lengths from Schlage. The only reason I purchased this was due the local store refusing to rekey the lock for me. I was buying a brand new lock and they would not rekey it to my current key.
