The quality control on this product is bad. The pins are too short compared to the Schlage pins and will not allow the cylinder to turn or key to be removed properly. I was able to reassmble with the original pins without issue. Don't waste your time with this product like I did.

I’m trying to use this set to rekey a few new Schlage locks to the same key. First off this set lacked some good instructions, but there are many YouTube videos on how to do this so I was able to figure it out that way. But the major problem was once I got all the pins in place, I noticed not all of the pins lined up perfectly like they should. The red pins were too long, and possibly the purple pins, and the gold and silver pins were slightly too short. It won’t work, I am returning this set.

Worked as described. I was able to change all my locks to 1 key. My advice is to look up Schlage Re-key on YouTube.

The included tools are cheap but it will probably get the job done. I wan't aware that it only comes with 5 pin sizes but the Schlage lock I have has 9 pins. It also doesn't say what size the pins are and they are so close they almost look the same size. Luckily the lock I was repining combined with a spare deadbolt I didn't need was able to work but this set has a lot to be desired. I would have just let Home Depot do it but the guy was out that day and I didn't want to come back.

If all someone is looking for is to inexpensively change the keying of their locks, this will work. If someone is hoping to make their locks less easy to compromise/pick open, this is NOT the best solution. The pins are all close in size, which would make any lock in which this was installed more susceptible to picking. I called the company to see if they had key solutions with better bidding (more variations in pin lengths) and they said they did not for thsi kit.

Kit contained sufficient material and instruction to re-key all the door locks (4 cores total). The tools provided were adequate but the tweezers were a little flimsy. The re-keyed locks work great with the new keys.

This re-keying kit was exactly what I was looking for. My local Home Depot didn’t carry the product, but they were able to send it to me within three days with free shipping. I didn't want to spend a lot and was hoping that it would be as easy as some of the online reviews said. The springs and pins did come out on my first try and took me about an hour to get them back in. After watching an online video and realizing you had to turn the key to a 90 degree angle, I was able to do all of the remaining locks in my house in about 15 minutes per lock. My only complaint is that the kit only comes with three keys and they aren't the best quality keys. I had additional, better ones made for $2 at Home Depot. I also learned that you can order extra pins online if you have more than 6 locks to rekey. Overall, a great product and exactly what I was looking for!

I found it surprising easy to rekey two of our locks.

The keys provided were not cut properly or the blanks were not manufactured correctly. When inserting the cylinder with new pins and key in place the assembly bound up with the housing. Pulling apart resulted damage to the springs. After closer inspection the top of the key protruded above the cylinder. All three keys were the same. Buying a full set of pins and going to use a Schlage key for the five locks I an keying alike

Did not fit my Schlage cylinder; moreover, it damaged the mechanism because it was too big for the cylinder.

The kit was simple to use. The instructions could use a little more detail or add some tips. I do get that you cant account for every possible configuration. My big issue that kept this from a 5 star was that the keys provided where too tall, and would make it hard to turn or even jam. I had to file the flat section of the key blade.

Fair price. Speedy delivery. All the right parts and tools. Made quick work of re-keying Schlage locks.

Did not fit right. Cheap plastic broke right away. Waste of money. Do not purchase.

It was my first time doing this and I have to say the video was extremely helpful! Very well explained, I did not give this a five star because getting the key in and out is very hard, not sure if putting some WD-40 would help but will definitely give it a try. However, a good kit to have.

This re-Key kit was poorly designed. The follower did not work 'as is' with my lever lock and I had to modify it before I could get the cylinder out. Then the selection of pins supplied did not contain several of the ones needed to rey the lock to match my key. The packaging for this item needs to be redone. I do not recomend it as currently configured.

I had 13 locks to rekey. Easy to do the re-key, but with only 5 pin lengths, there are only 120(?) possible combos. Also, the difference in height of the pins is between 0.003” and 0.006”. This would make it easier to pick. Schlage has 10 diff lengths (3,628,800(?) combos if there are no repeat pins) with 0.015” step between each length. I un-keying back to orig. I had a locksmith rekey 1 cyl using the existing Schlage pins in a different order. I then rekeyed the rest of the locks to match.

I bought this kit to rekey three doors with unmatched Schlage knobs and deadbolts so they would all use a common key. I had two problems that caused me to ultimately give up on this kit, take them all to a local locksmith, and pay another $60 to have hime rekey them all. Problem 1 - had some of the springs escape while trying to use the kit. On the first knob I popped the retainer clip that holds the springs in while trying to remove the lock cylinder from the knob. A few of the springs went missing, so there was no hope of getting that knob back together on my own. The second knob went fine, but when I did the 3rd knob I must have somehow allowed a slight gap between the black plastic pusher tube and the cylinder because another spring popped loose and got bent. All this might be avoidable if I understood how locks worked and took greater care, but I thought I was being pretty careful and following what the video instructions showed. Problem 2 - I was able to get the deadbolt locks and two of the knobs rekeyed with the kit, but two of them were very hard to use. The key was very hard to insert and remove and it took a lot of force to turn the lock. When I took these to the locksmith he explained that the key blanks were very low quality and not straight and smooth. He rekeyed the locks himself and made new keys which proved his point, as they worked very smoothly.

This does not work of you want to rekey the lock (s) to an arbitrary key - ONLY TO THE ONE SUPPLIED with the set. This information should be HIGHLIGHTED in the product description as I see that I am not the only one having bought the product and finding out it does not work.. will put it in the garbage.

The plastic tools are just useless. Otherwise it’s good DIY for rekey yourself.

it does what it's meant to do. as others have said, the tweezers are very low quality but if done right you don't really need them

Overall a good kit. In my case, I needed to grind down a couple of pins as there were no small pins in the kit. No big deal though. The instructions were good.

While easy to use if you’re familiar with lock sets, this product does diminish the security of the set. There should be more variance in pin length than is provided. Also, the included pins are not manufacturer standard lengths. This kit would be fine for a low security application but consult a locksmith if you need a lock set that is reliable and resistant to defeat.

The bag did not include the correct pins. There were no "purple" pins which made it worthless.

Worked perfect to key alike all the schlage locks at my house. Tweezers are crap though.

It was easy to rekey my schlage smart lock using this kit.

If you don't have the original key to open the lock, than this will not work! You can only re key if you have a key!

We used to change out lock sets in our rentals, for $100 each time at least - now we just change out the keys and the pins using this kit, for about a tenth as much. Took a little figuring out on the first one, but the second one took me literally two minutes to change. Highly recommend!
