I purchased this doggy door due to not having to modify or do any heavy alterations to my sliding glass door, you will see that I used the stopper it came with, I didn't use the foam, I purchased some to make it work, easy anyone can do it, I live in a townhouse and you can see from my images of all that I did, I have to get some more foam for the outside, as I have temp cardboard in it to hold it in from the outside, but I wish i could latch my sliding glass door to the doggy door, I might try.

I was disappointed that I had to pay a handy man to install this because it requires you to drill into your door frame. They should include more weather stripping because it was needed. The style of lock could break the glass so that’s kinda dumb. But a piece of wood in the door is just as good so oh well. But other than it’s a good quality and good looking door. I’d recommend this but only if I could include these warnings. The impression I got when shopping around is this is pretty much as good as it gets. None of the dog doors I looked at had (very many or) very bad reviews.

I just purchased this dog door insert (07/12/2021). The delivery from Home Depot was early and the package arrived in good condition. The installation took longer than expected. The instructions were fair: we could have used more illustrations that show what the instructions described. Specifically, Part 3A and 3B (Option 1/2), was very confusing. We bailed on installing the lock because it was easier to use a dowel to secure the door. My main complaint is in the quality of the door. It is extremely flimsy, the joints are 'wobbly' (not tightly fitted). Once the door is installed, the door is less 'wobbly' since it is secured by metal clamps to the frame, but it can easily be 'popped' apart. To make matters worse, we noticed the the bottom-right (inside view) and hence bottom-left (outside view) joint was separated slightly (see photos). We went ahead with the installation because I needed the dog door functional before going back to work. I am able to put some insulation over the 'crack' and move on. If the quality of the material and construction were better, this would not have been an issue. Given my experience, I would have looked into buying a different door. I bought this door because I am a renter - the marketing materials emphasized this feature. I hope that the door lasts a few years, but I am not confident.

I bought this door and was wondering if the dog door insert would fit into it?

This is really cool idea but it needs reinfrcement big time. My sling glass door is recessed inside the frame. So the product comes wotj two brackets. One for top mddle and bottom left. It wouldnt take much to push it in then walk right into our home. I wedges some small strips of wood around this product on both sides. I took some trim screws then screwed througg the door frame kntk this prodcut then into the outer door frame. I also took window and door caulk to seal it from outside air coming in. The breeze thay this unit lets in is crazy. Not through the little doggy door but arounf the sides. The package incliudes little weather stripping for the sliding door and thay is it. Tje glass is single pane glass and so much moisture on it thay it freezes balls of ice at the bottom. Several times a day we have to knock the ice off so the doggy door can open and close. Once the flap is cold it doesnt want to catch on the manget strip either. So i dot recommend this product unless you live in warm climates. I plan on throwing it away when it warms up and building my own system like this but out of wood and insulation the cutting out a door for the dog to use

Received and it works well. Since I am using in sliding door, there could have been more weather stripping.

Good quality, easy to install. Only complain I have is it's flapper which is made out plastic got a crack after one week of use. I will be contacting company to get a replacement soon.

The door that the animal goes out of has a magnet on the plastic flap. This way you don’t have a draft coming in. It has a hard panel that comes down over the plastic flap with a lock on it. Love this feature. Great quality door that looks awesome. So glad I got this.

My cats love it, and I have transitioned all their litterboxes onto the patio and leave it open all the time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog has enjoyed using the Pet Safe Patio Panel Pet Door! It is made for a sliding door and still allows for the door to lock. It has an aluminum frame with tempered glass. The flap opening is a little larger than 10 by 16. This size is meant for a dog up to 100lbs. My dog loves her new freedom of getting to go outside whenever she wants!

No more waiting on us to open a door for them. Plus you are able to shut it so they don't have access as well. This dog door was very easy to install. It took me about 25 minutes to install. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our dogs absolutely love the freedom of going out on the deck whenever they please. It has the hardware to connect it to the sliding glass door, and it also has a lock so you can still secure your house. We decided not to attach it, so we can remove it whenever we would like. The fit is really good, and is very stable without actually attaching it. The top is spring loaded to give it a snug fit. There is also a door you can put over the flap to keep intruders from entering whenever you leave. This product is very well made, and we are very happy with it.

My only concern with the door is the security. It seems like it would be easy for someone to force their way through and with it installed the only way to lock the sliding door is with the drop down bar.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got the Freedom Aluminum Patio Panel up to 80 11/16 inches for Large dogs in White color. When I first pulled it out of the box i thought it was a little to big for my sliding door but its adjustable and fits perfectly in the frame. Very simple to install. Quick and easy. i would say that the size of the door is more for a medium dog though. But other then that its wonderful, We LOVE IT!!! Thank you for a great product

Love that the door is adjustable and easily removed when not in use. We did not install the weather stripping and hardware which make to door more of a long term fixture. Due to not having the weather stripping installed a small gap remains when the slider is closed however by adjusting the panel it will closely but up against the slider to close the gap. See two pics. Come the winter months this may be more of an issue with the colder air coming through but for the other 3 seasons it will work exactly as needed for us. Dogs were hesitant at first to use the door. 15 mins of training with treats as rewards and they are in and out a dozen times a day.

Not designed for grooved door. When we moved into our new house, the only doors to the backyard were sliding glass doors and I didn't even realize such a product existed, so I'm happy for that. After I installed it, our dogs had no problem using it. However, I have a number of issues w/ the installation, and I don't think it's user error since I'm pretty handy (I just built a deck for our new home for example). Here's my beef: 1) I ended up drilling multiple holes into needlessly because the instructions steered me wrong. In step 2C, you're supposed to push the height adjuster flush to the upper rail, drill holes in the panel, and secure it in place. Then in step 3G, you're supposed to secure a T-bracket to the upper track and slide the panel over the bracket. If step 2C was followed correctly, the bracket is too thick to slide the panel over. I ended up having to redrill holes for the height adjuster to allow it to pass over the bracket. These steps should be switched. 2) My track is a lot wider than the panel and the instructions weren't clear whether to center the panel in the track, bias it towards the outside, or bias it towards the inside (I ended up biasing it towards the inside). 3) This door is nowhere near as secure as it was previously. The new latch is secured to the sliding door using 2 #8-1/2" screws vs. the 4" wood screws my previous latch was secured with. 4) The glass sweep is useless. It's rubber and has I believe double-sided tape attached to it, but the tape neither sticks to the rubber sweep nor the door. The adhesive just peeled away from the tape whenever it touched anything (you can see remnants of the adhesive in the photo). I ended up having to buy a new door seal for ~$10. 5) This product is not designed for grooved door edges like the one I have. The door latch, weather stripping, and glass sweep are all supposed to attach to the side of the door, but this is very difficult with above 1/4" of surface to attach to (see photo). For the door latch, I ended up barely being able to attach it to the corner of the protruding edge of the door.

I would change one thing to the Petsafe patio door. The plastic flap should be completely see thru. My dog can’t see what’s on the other side of the door. Makes her hesitant!

Works. Bought different weather stripping and relocated door latch so door latches to insert. Lock mechanism that came with it didn't work for my setup. But relocating the latch and adding a bar behind the door for added protection did the trick. Dog loves the door and uses it like crazy. Frog made its way in as well.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago. It took the puppies less than an hour to use. In a week no more acidents in the house! Easy to install. Son brought his dog over and in minutes from following puppies he learned. No more worries about rusging home to let the pups out!

Pet door is not all weather proof. In cold weather it shrinks and magnet gets stucked. The stiffness of the door being cold will make it not close sometimes. I think this is a great and not very expensive solution but only for summer weather.

It fit perfectly in my patio door .

The door was a little difficult to get installed but once we got it in place our dogs love it. The puppy is now potty trained and we don’t have to worry about having accidents everywhere now

This is a great door, but, our door opening was just too small for this permanent door will have to return and get the sliding one.

This is a good looking functional pet door. I remove it when gone but it can be made permanent. The pet door is quiet and returns to closed position with magnets. Comes with weather stripping to keep outside weather outside.

It says it's for large dogs but our golden can barely get out of it. The plastic wind protection broke off and it doesn't seal with the sliding door.
