If you are seeking a motion sensor that does not require a true ground or neutral connection in order to operate, we can recommend Maestro Dimmer Sensor model MSCL-OP153M, which can function without a proper ground or neutral connection and still will provide auto-on/auto-off motion sensing. The only difference with this unit compared to the MS-OPS2 model you had previously installed is that the Dimmer Sensor is also capable of dimming the lighting, so you must ensure it is being used on dimmable line-voltage lighting. Hello, thank you for your feedback. Lutron Motion Sensors use passive infrared sensing technology that requires heat, typically human motion, to trigger auto-on occupancy and turn the lights on. So unfortunately, a door on its own will not activate the sensor. See the below spec sheet for more information:

Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to advertise on the product page that the faceplate is sold separately. We typically do not include the wall plate as there are many instances where the single gang faceplate couldn't be used and would add extra cost for something that gets discarded.
