Best dishwasher ever!!!
I've had this dishwasher for a year and a half, I have no problems with this dishwasher, any dishwasher has problems if not loaded properly. I have a large family (12) total and I can load pots, pans and all dishes and glasses in one load. Depending on the pots I will load my heavy dutch ovens on top with glasses and plates and skillets on bottom. Everthing comes out sparkling clean everytime. I use the normal cycle most of the time. If the dishes are heavily soiled I use the steam cycle. Greatest dishwasher ever!!!

    Pleased Overall
I've had this dishwasher for about a month. There isn't anything I dislike about it - and there are quite a few things I like alot - but there are some things that took getting used to. The Good: Amazingly quiet (compared to my old dishwasher anyway); gets dishes clean and dry (yes, I use heated dry and a rinse aid but did with my old dishwasher, too); love the timer showing time remaining; good choice of cycles; buttons are big enough to hit just the one you want to press and easy to read Raising and lowering the upper rack is a breeze. Not-to-great-but-that's-life: although the dishwasher will hold 12 place settings (according to the diagram), when you start adding pots and pans then space is somewhat limited. The dishwasher does not hold as much as my old dishwasher but none of the news ones did (yes, I took a tape measure and measured them - even the $1200 model - against my old dishwasher), I used to run the dishwasher once every four or five days, now it needs to be run every three days or so. I guess it's all the insulation to make it quiet that reduces the interior space. The only "bad" is that when loaded with dirty dishes for a couple of days it begins to smell . . .unpleasant. Old one didn't do this and not sure why this one does. Maybe I need to clean the filter - something else I didn't have to do before. Husband installed it and said it was easy, As of now, I'd buy it again.

    Dishwasher stainless tub
Although the dishwasher is very quiet it does not clean dishes well nor does the dry function work well. To run a full cycle requires a very long time more than 2 hours. There must be some design flaw

I'm very happy with the way it cleans
After reading some of the reviews we were ready to cancel the dishwasher, but decided to go ahead with it. I am so happy...the dishwasher cleans fine...I tried a dirty soup pot today and it came out clean. I like how quiet it runs. I have no complaints except I wish it was a little more flush with the cabinets.

          Giving it a whirl
So here is the deal. I have never heard of a company, "GE" in this case, that asks it's customers to run the water in the sink first to ensure water going to the machine is hot. Folks at GE take this point- What good does it do to put a delay timer function on the machine if you expect a performance issue? No one will be home to run the water first so owners will get what they get. If this is a requirement for optimal performance consider a manufacturer installed water pre-heater. The other thing to think about is how this changes the energy efficiency rating of your product. I have done some fairly extensive searching and this model seems to have a good array of features for the price point in comparison to other similarly equipped models so my wife and I ordered one today and will pick it up at Home Depot next Saturday. I intend to do a follow up report once we have had some time to become familiar with using it. I also will be performing the installation and will provide feedback based on the perceived level of difficulty to complete the install. The install kit should be included with the machines cost which to me is a negative but not a deal breaker and I was glad that the store personnel were knowledgable enough to inform me I would need it. I have not completed my research as I will need the owners manual but the employee said that that using the old hardware from a previous machine can void the warranty. GE feel free to elaborate! Final point- the machine in question is a dishwasher and the specific task is to get dishes clean. In most cases there are very specific ways to load the machine to optomize performance. If you have this machine and have experienced poor cleaning performance consider reviewing the instructions for loading before saying the machine doesn't do it's job. The machine we are replacing has a silverware basket in front that if you put large utensils in some of them block the soap tray from opening which was something we had to learn from use and adjust to what works best. GE does have a good reptuation for dealing with warranty issues and have been known to go above and beyond to make customers happy when they had no obligation to do so. I am not employed by GE or any subsidiary and stand to gain nothing from this review.

            overall great features
Purchased GE Model Adora and installed in January of 2014. Very disappointed with this dishwasher. First load took 3 cycles to get the soap dispenser clean with the pod that was furnished. Four out of 5 loads there is always either silverware or dishes not cleaned. Do not put silverware in front of soap dispenser, (can't figure out why the silverware basket would be in that position) guaranteed you will always have soap in dispenser and on silverware when cycle is done. None of our dishes sit well. Small dishes fall down and fill with water and of course when you open and move the rack it spills over the clean dishes. Guess you have to buy certain dishes to fit the design. Wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing, appears this is quite common with this model dishwasher. Now we are stuck with a lousy product.

              Door won't stay closed.
I have had this appliance two weeks and have a service call scheduled because the door won't stay closed. Pops open mid cycle. I thought the two silverware baskets on the front of trays would be helpful, but find if it isn't loaded perfectly it interferes with the door.

Doesn't clean well, but you can make it work with a lot of effort
if you have this dishwasher and don't want to replace it, this is what we did to make it work: move the bottom utensil rack to the side so it doesn't block the detergent. use the cascade detergent and rinse aid they recommend. Environmental detergent will not work. You will go through rinse aid like crazy (I've never had to use rinse aid before in my life). Run the water to hot before turning on. (yep, waste of water). Still use the hot water boost since the water in the pipes will be cool. Use the steam pre-clean. use the longest wash setting. Do not overlap/over load dishes. pre- rinse dirty or crusty dishes. Put your knives in pointy end up. If you put them pointing down, they won't be clean since the water doesn't really get into the basket. CLEAN THE FINE PARTICLE FILTER FREQUENTLY. until we did this, we were getting grit dried all over the dishes and you had to seriously re-wash to scrape it off. we hadn't done ours in 3 months and the filter was completely gunked up. They tell you to clean the filter once a month. We are going to do it once a week. Sure it says in the user manual about the filter but 1) who reads the user manual for something like a dishwasher, and 2) who would guess there is a filter! Never had one before in all the years of dishwashers. even the customer service rep didn't mention it nor has any of the GE responses to complaints that I've seen. We air dry our dishes so the fact that everything is wet as other have mentioned doesn't bother us. in summary. Don't buy this dishwasher if you don't need matching appliances (like we did.) Don't buy a cheaper model without the steam clean or it won't clean. If you have this dishwasher and can't replace it, if you do all of the above, your dishes should mostly come out clean. Whew.

                Wrong Choice
It will be exchanged. Less than 3 weeks owning this machine, it had to be serviced two times.Aside from that, the tines are not adjustable for pasta plates or soup bowls. Cannot fit any pots or pans, or pyrex upright on the bottom. While top rack can be raised to accommodate taller itemson the lower level, your wine glasses get broken on top. If rack is lowered, it chips the dinner dishes! Aside from all this, the dishes have to be washed before they are loaded. Doing so, the cycle is still over two hours. On the plus side, It is the quietest machine I have ever owned. The reason I would recommend it with the low rating I gave it, not everyone requires these standards for a dishwasher.

Works better than our old one. Doesn't work well with both silverware holders in.... seems like the lower one blocks the water.

                  A Wonderful Dishwasher
I seldom write reviews but felt compelled to do so after reading so many negative ones concerning this dishwasher. We have never experienced cleaner, dryer more spotless dishes and I believe that everyone would if they just followed a few basic steps: first, and most importantly, use a highly rated detergent (I would strongly suggest Finish Tabs). second, the water must be HOT, third, use a water rinse agent in the dispenser (an indicator will tell you if it is empty. Soft water works better so if your city does not soften your water (St. Paul does) consider getting a water softener. This holds for any washing chore and any machine. I set my machine for a normal wash but also put it on temperature boost, steam clean and heated drying and just leave it there for every load. Even baked on cheese is no match for this. If there is a negative about this machine it's that cleaning time takes forever - almost 3 1/2 hours with these settings but I really don't care as you can hardly hear it run anyway. One more comment, do you really believe that GE would sell a dishwasher that didn't clean dishes?

                    Good performance
Cleans well, runs quiet and has simple to use control panel. Had trouble with defective slider arms for top shelf. GE warranty service replaced them and seems to be working fine now. Good experience with their service team.

                      We love it!
We are very pleased with our dishwasher. We've had it for four months. Our water at the sink takes awhile to get hot, so we've have to add the sanitize feature to get all of the soap to dissolve, but that's our old plumbing and has little to do with our dishwasher. The dishes come out clean. We're using dishwasher cleaner monthly, as we have hard water and are hoping to keep the dishwasher going for many years to come. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the location of the silverware holder on the top rack. We knock it off, at least partially, every time we load & unload dishes. Other than that, we haven't had any problems.

                      awful diswwasher
Let me start by saying that I have owned several brands of dishwahers and this GE brand is by far the worst. First installation: not easy, the instructions are awful and you will need to buy a valve conversion kit to install. Second performance: It leaked from the handle, the control panel top came off and than stopped working. There is a delay timer that wouldnt turn off and we had to wait an hour to turn it on. It only did two washes, leaking the whole time and than it stopped working. The instruction are awful, the pictures explaining how to install the sound installation are awful. The edges around the frame bend easily and the rubber edging is hard to install and looks awful. This is a poor design, bad construction and needs to be pulled from the shelves. Needless to say it was returned and a different brand was purchased. I would not recommend this dishwasher, in fact I will never buy a GE product again.

I replaced my Dishwasher with a Dish Machine
I replaced a 12 year old loud Dishwasher with this unit. It is very quit, which is a big plus in my book, how ever I feel like I replaced a DishWASHER with a Dish Machine. With my old machine I could throw just about anything in there, add soap, run it and when it was finished I had clean Dry dishes. With this unit the steps are a bit different. I need to make sure I only put CLEAN dishes in it, add soap, run it and then take my wet clean dishes back out. I am very disappointed with this unit as it will not clean anything I put in there very well. I have tried different soaps, rinse aids different cycles...The bottom line is that this should not be called a DishWasher as it can not wash. It simply gets dishes wet and makes them warm.

Response from GE AnswersMar 5, 2014
Hi Carlos1787-this is Sue from GE. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment with your new Adora dishwasher. This is not the evaluation we would expect to hear. We can advise that proper water temperature is essential to achieve optimum wash and dryer results from your dishwasher and the detergent. The hot water heater should be set to deliver at least 120 degree Fahrenheit water to the dishwasher. To check the water temperature, run the hot water at the kitchen sink and measure the temperature of the running water with a candy or meat thermometer. Adjust the temperature of the water heater accordingly. Run the hot water faucet at the kitchen sink prior to operating the dishwasher to purge out the cold water. Be sure to choose the Steam, Wash Temp Boost and Heated Dry options. These tips should resolve the cleaning and drying issues. If not, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. We are confident our factory-trained technicians can resolve any issues to your satisfaction.GE_Appliances

                          Problems at GE
At first I loved this product. I thought all was fine. Then, I had problems with getting the door to stay closed. I would have to wrestle with it ti stay closed. After a while, I called for service. The service person changed the latch. It seemed better. I did one wash and it was back to wrestling to keep the door closed. I called again. A service person came out and determined that the unit had to be replaced. He took pictures and said GE would contact me in 24 to 36 hours. Well that passed. So, I called the service center to see what was going on. Well, nothing was going on. The person said they would get a going and it would be approved in 24 hours. Well, a week passed and again, I had to call the service center. I was then told that another service person would have to come out and check the unit and take some more pictures because the previous pictures were not good enough. Now, I am still waiting for a new unit. What I don't like is that I had to initiate things. GE never called me; I had to call them to get things going. I'm hoping that this next service trip will get the ball rolling again. Also, I purchased a slate gas range also. I also called in for service because when the oven starts, I smell a strong gas smell all the way up to the second floor of my townhouse. It's only at startup. I was told that was normal and that if it bothers me, I should call the gas company. The gas company doesn't have the proper parts to repair what may not be correct. I have always had GE products. Now I'm sorry that I have 4 brand new GE kitchen appliances. Because of the run around with the service, I won't be purchasing GE after these units need to be replaced. I'm just hoping my dish washer gets taken care of this week. I'm retired and spent big bucks for the new appliances. I don't have lots of money to throw around.

Poor design and doesn't clean silverware
Bought this three months ago, inside space is much smaller than previous dishwasher. The silverware racks on the front are a poor design and doesn't get the silverware clean. We have to use the heavy wash setting (supposed to be for pots and pans) to get regular dishes clean.

One of the things that can happen is that when the dishwasher is installed, if the dishwasher door is hitting the countertop or cabinet in any way, it could cause damage to the door. We are glad to know that you are having the dishwasher serviced so it can be repaired. We appreciate you choosing GE!GE_Appliances

I have no idea why this product has bad reviews. We were leery to get it because they were so mixed but the home depot guy said it was an excellent dishwasher, and he was right. Dishes are spotless and dry. The various loading options are amazing and you can't hear it run at all. We wanted a quiet dishwasher and this one is! Would highly recommend it. Plus is so pretty.

                                    Super quiet! Cycles very long.
The 2 person crew who installed the dishwasher did an outstanding job! At first, it seemed that the dishes were not drying. Then, I read the directions thoroughly. Changed some settings and now I have clean, dry dishes. I did not anticipate how dark a stainless steel tub would be and much prefer my old white tub. The cycles seem excessively long, but then it is so quiet, it is not that much of a bother. Nice looking, love the top controls and I love having a handle to put my dishtowels over.

                                      So Quiet
I've had other GE dish washers in the past. The outside insulation is made of cheap stuff instead of actual insulation foam which was provided on my other GE dish washers. This GE dishwasher also has a much smaller interior design, therefore fitting less dishes. The saving grace of this product is the quietness of how it runs. It's the quietest dish washer I have ever encountered; owned or walked by. This reason alone is why I endorse this product.
