Hello Judy,
I am sorry to hear of your experience with the purchase of your new dishwasher. If you need a new owners manual please contact us at 1-800-626-2005
Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–10 p.m. ET
Saturday: 8 a.m.–7 p.m. ET.
You may want to check with your sales representative to see if this was a return. There could be some water in the tub from testing.
It is normal for some dishwashers to run for up to two hours under certain conditions.
On select models, the timer display or dial will stop for long periods (up to 1/2 hour) during the wash and dry cycles while the heater is activated.
On models featuring Auto Hot Start, the cycle may be extended up to 20 minutes while the dishwasher heats the water. This time will vary depending on the temperature of the water coming in to the machine.
Cycle time may also vary on models with clean sensors due to the sensor extending or decreasing cycle time and number of fills based on the soil level.
The Steam Pre-wash option begins loosening soils before the powerful wash cycles begin to help eliminate stuck-on soils. This can be selected as an option to run before any other cycle. This whole Steam Prewash including the circulate time is roughly 24 minutes in addition to a wash cycle.
The dishwasher is actually not wasting water, it is very efficient. The wash pump will cycle on and send water to the lower spray arm. The motor will run, stop for 1 second, restart, stop and pause for 5 - 8 seconds, restart and then repeat this algorithm throughout the cycle and is normal.
The motor run time will vary depending on the wash cycle selected. During the wash cycle the wash pump alternates which spray arm to supply with water. Water is supplied to the lower spray arm, then the wash pump stops and starts again, this time sending water to the mid and upper spray arms.
The lower, mid and upper spray arms do not use water at the same time. I hope this helps. We appreciate the feedback.
