The dementions of the pit are misleading!!
18 x 22 , actually is 21x22! The inside was
wide, but there is the lip that adds extra
Width!!

Hi Tony. We apologize for your confusion. The 18 in. x 22 in. dimensions are internal. You are correct in that the top diameter around the "lip" are 21 in. This additional "lip" allows for the placing and securing of one of our many sump basin covers.

This product will out last me and everyone else. It's very strong and durable. I drilled holes in mine and after setting it in the hole I poured gravel all around it and about four inches of concrete on top of that. It's well made and you can't beat the price! I have another one that I buried four feet under ground and made a dry well out of it for a second sump pump. Well worth the money!

It's a super sturdy trashcan basically. It did the job....
It's a super sturdy trashcan basically. It did the job. For my use I need to drill a few holes to allow groundwater to leach in so that it doesn't float up out of the ground, but it works great otherwise.

Not used as a sump basin, rather as a base for a home-brew bio-filter and waterfall for my koi pond. It was just the right size and easy to handle and looks and works great!

Well my review is due to my own mistake. The basin is really study and well-built and the lid I bought (the one with the big slot cut out) is well built too, but the only thing that kept me from installing it was the size of the circumference of the basin RIM, which is at 21" by 21" and my crawl space hole is 23" by 19", so needless to say it will not fit even if I remove the wood frame of my crawl entrance hole. Please measure your crawl space hole before purchase, it will same you some time. Wished they had the basin lid rim edge inside instead of outside diameter.
