I have had this smoker for around 4 years now. I use it a lot. I smoke ribs, pork butts, shoulders, brisket, chicken, sausage, turkeys, You name it. I feed 3 households at a time with this. It is a solid smoker. I did seal all of the joints between the smoke box, the top vent, etc.. I did seal up the main door as well. That helps a LOT to contain the smoke. I have smoked a turkey, two pork shoulders, and a ham all at once with this smoker. 18lb bird, two 9lb shoulders, 12 lb ham. It held up fine

Used it twice to smoke meat. Limited air flow and after the first smoking smoke was escaping from around the door sill. The burn box vent once heated up refuse to slide open to help regulate the air intake. The chimney damper also not working properly.
Very thin metal construction

This is a great smoker for the backyard. It has plenty of room for a lot of meat. I've smoked three briskets at the same time, and they came out great. Pros and cons of this smoker. Pro: the assembly of it was very easy and took me less the 30 minutes. With any smoker always remember to season your smoker before using it. I used vegetable oil. Con: I didn't see any for the assembling the smoker. Pro: the door has a seal around it and two latches to keep the smoke in. Con: one of the latches is placed at the bottom of the door, under the smoker making it an inconvenience when opening and closing the door to tend to the meat. Pro: I use the thermometer on the door to keep the right amount of heat and smoke inside and it has always worked great. Con: the thermometer on my smoker gets stuck sometimes and I have to give it a little tap to get it working right. Pro: the charcoal basket in the fire box is a real big help keeping then all together and keeping the heat going. Con: Due to the design you need to pull out the tray to add more charcoal. Overall i consider this a great smoker at a great price. I've had this smoker for a month and have been using it twice a week and it hasn't let me down. I really like the adjustable racks and I can't wait for Thanksgiving to see how many Turkey's i can smoke. Also if anyone is wondering, it took me 10 hours to smoke the 3 briskets.

Not bad, but could be better
These have the potential to be a really great product. But straight out of the box they are a little bit lacking. First off, when you buy one of these, also pick up some high temp silicon caulk as there is no sort of gasket between the firebox and body. Also use it on the screw holes and larger seams on the body. I have seen reviews where people have said they had trouble controlling the temperature and I think this may have something to to with that, because I had no problem at all (and I was using it on a cold, rainy day). There are 2 other things they could have done better. First they designed it so you could us it with wood or charcoal, which is great. Except the firebox isn't quite deep enough to take the standard splits you get from most wood lots. You have to put them in at an angle or cut a couple inches off them. And second, while the latches for the smoker door are a great idea, the latches themselves are not very well made. Make sure the pivots are securely set or they could work themselves out after only a few uses. However, having said all of that, once these minor obstacles were overcome, the unit performed well - much better than my old horizontal barrel type smoker. And the adjustable shelves make it very versatile for smoking just about anything.

loving this unit
This smoker is pretty awesome, It smokes REAL GOOD. The unit is easy to assemble and even though the metal is a lighter weight material it holds together very well over time. There are a few technical issues that hopefully future models can work out. The thermometer that attaches to the unit, shipped with the arrow behind the stopping nub, so in essence the thermometer arrow couldn't move. That is an easy fix if anyone else experiences the same issue. Remove the bolt, use a flat head micro screw driver to pry loose the metal tabs -open the assembly and lightly move the arrow over the stopping nub. Then reassemble. Not a big deal really simple fix. The other technical issue is a bit more complicated smokers need to keep smoke inside with very little leakage to maintain a constant reliable temperature, unfortunately smoke escapes from many different places. Smoke escapes from the space between the smoker housing and vertical body, also where the thermometer is attached, and once again from the corners of the larger body door. The unit still smokes fine but keeping a rock steady temperature is challenging, even for a PIT MASTER.
The smoker arrives in a box weighing 104 lb. so you may want to assemble it near to where you plan to actually use it.
PROS: Assembly is minimal and very straightforward. The amount of space inside this smoker is excellent and can accommodate large volumes of meat. I like that there are 6 racks included, a special rack for smoking ribs, and enough holes to adequately space each rack as well. The smoker has the temperature gauge on the front of the door which makes it quick and easy to read, however, the gauge is not completely sealed so smoke does come out around the gauge when cooking. Another plus is that this smoker is a slightly smaller size than most and this makes it easy to accommodate on a small patio.
CONS: The product was well packaged with foam protectors on the corners, but there were still a few small dents although nothing serious to impede its functionality. Unfortunately the gauge of the metal of this smoker is not very heavy, and a heavier gauge of 20 or 22 would be preferable but it still holds the heat. There are two latches that hold the smoker door securely closed during cooking, and there is not much “curve” to hold the latch closed (see photo). One of the latches is underneath the smoker and somewhat awkward to use. It would have been better to have both latches on the side. The damper vents are on the side of the firebox and were easy to open and close prior to heating, however, once the charcoal was ready and the firebox fully heated, the metal expanded and the damper will no longer operate (even after the smoker cooled down). I have to keep opening the firebox to regulate the temperature while cooking. All of these are the reason I could only rate the smoker 3/5 on quality.
All in all, this smoker is decent value for the money, and we enjoyed a delicious smoked brisket, but from experience with lower quality metals, I will be getting a cover so the smoker is not damaged by the weather and will avoid rusting like my other one did!
Got it on time and very easy assembly. I seasoned it by putting a fire in exactly as if I were smoking but had nothing on. Then the next weekend smoked a rack of ribs and a pork butt. Went very well. Not hard to maintain my smoking temperature. I used charcoal and wood chunks

The ultimate party pleaser!
So first off, the firebox setups for Dyna-Glo rigs are amazing. The charcoal basket & ash pan keep your fuel burning effectively for the whole cook. Next, the amount of space on this rig is phenomenal. I have had every rack occupied with dish for a party I was hosting and I cannot tell you how easy it made the cooking experience. This is easily the best vertical charcoal smoker you can get. I have had other rigs from other brands and i can say with confidence - I will not be switching ever again.
