Great tool, noticeably more power than my previous 20v battery powered jig saw, cleaner and faster cuts as well, even with an aggressive blade. I have relatively small hands and the barrel is fairly large. I would prefer it to be a little smaller, but knew this going in and would still prefer this style over the top-handle style that feels clumsy to me with hands so far from the work.

Can I give this more stars? This is hands down the best jig saw in this price range - in fact, better than many priced much more! The barrel style allows for easier manipulation of the trigger without having to fuss with a safety, the shoe is solid, and the included blade cut threw a treated 2x10 like butter! Between the overall design and the huge motor, this will plunge cut without drilling a starter hole. Wouldn't have believed it, but it works! Did exactly what I needed after an old saw puked its guts out and now that I see what the Bosch can do I'm imaging lots of other projects!

This is a quality tool with more than adequate power for the advanced DIY'er. I particularly like the low vibration. However, it may be less controllable for those with smaller hands as the barrel grip is quite wide.

I used this saw to cut decorative profiles in wet 2x6 treated wood for a pergola. It cut easily with very little blade deflection. It was fun to use. I wish it had a light to help see the cut. Overall i would say buy this saw, you will not regret it. This saw is amazing.

I bought this saw to use for cutting fancy pergola ends, coping and other contour work. I bought the longer blades for the pergola ends so could cut the profile in two boards at time. The boards are 3 inch thick by 12 deep. This saw had no issues cutting through a solid 6 inch rough cut douglas fir. The profiles in both boards were dead square ( which means the blade didn't wander or deform). For the thick stock I gound turning down the rpm to about half which allowed better control. Also no issue for coping mouldings. Very easy to control and very manouverable. One suggestion would be to add ab led light to illuminate the blade/line contact. Laser would not help since I am not looking further ahead than the blade contact anyway. Thanks Bosch!

I purchased this last winter. I needed it for a project, by far beats my expectations, it runs like a sewing machine. smooth and precise. My new favorite. I had cheaper brands in the past, I should have broke my other one years ago. LOVE IT

Had the JS470EB for a few years now. Don't use it a lot, but I do love it. Feels very well built. The moderate heft along with the large range of variable speeds and the right bits allows for very good control. Zero-clearance, plastic, clear insert is very nice to have for certain projects. It's worth the price. I wouldn't buy anything different the next time around, except for a newer model.

Nice strong running saw with a good heft to it. Variable speed in the sense that there is a switch to select the speed rather than speed depending on trigger pull. At first, I thought I wouldn't like that style of speed control, but turns out I prefer it. The only thing I would change is the bevel control which is a little clunky to use..

I had this tool before but it got stolen. The new tool has a much better blade attachment. I put a Collins foot on it so I can use it for trim work, much better than a coping saw!

I bought this 3 months ago to do the sink and gas cooktop cutouts for a countertop. Everything worked the way it should. No miss cuts and very controllable.

This saw is a beast with finesse. It quickly makes cuts accurately and clean. There's enough weight to keep the saw from jumping with the strokes but not enough to make your hand tired from operation.

I bought this for cutting into steel cabinets and mounting electrical devices in the oil industry. The saw meets all of my requirements and exceeds my expectations in power.

I had two dewalts both had the same problem try to make tight turns and the blade would come off. Not the bosch its smooth and powerful. Love the barrel grip

I am a ham and egger and by no means am I as proficient as a contractor. However I like to play with wood in my garage. To take something from the earth (wood) and turn it into something beneficial to your family is quite an experience.

Returned my cheap Ryobi and got this. It is very well built, I reccomend it.

I have used many brands of jigsaws threwout my time in the trades and this barrel grip jiggy by bosch is outstanding. Great control and speed. Not to mention the impressive blower to clear debris from your line of sight when cutting. Overall i have no complaints even the cord is nice and flexible not like stuff cheap cords that get in the way.

Amazing saw. I'm glad i purchased the barrel grip. I've always used a conventional jig saw but after using the barrel style for the past two months of I feel much more comfortable making intricate and elaborate cuts. I have smaller hands and have never felt like the grip was to big or uncomfortable. You won't be disappointed.

I personally had trouble using this jigsaw, due to bad arthritis in my hands. I purchased online, and my local store exchanged it for me with the same model but with the trigger handle. Wow, this changed everything for me and I love this tool. I make toys and it is nice to have a good tool. I also found it a lot easier to have a trigger switch than the switch on the side of the motor body.

Consider this saw to be a workhorse. It is heavy. It is BIG. The barrel is 2.6 inches around. It is powerful but smooth. It's the perfect equipment for heavy duty use. For more detail work - use the top handle model. The top handle model has a variable trigger with max speed set by the dial at rear. The barrel model has an on- off switch with the same speed dial at the rear. Don't skimp - Bosch blades are 'sticky' sharp

It feels like this machine has enough power to plow through armor plate! Blade changes are a snap (make sure to PUSH THE BLADE IN when installing, there is a spring which ejects the blade and this spring must be compressed). My only concern would be the size and weight. I would like to see a slightly scaled down model but realize this would mean reduced power as well. Overall, I am pleased.

I have used this saw to make the cut for two kitchen sinks in laminate tops. The improved control with the barrel grip is significant.
