Two major problems. 1) this doesn't come with a blade, and the one that HD sells (FB12) isn't anchored at the far end so the blade flexes as you tear, leaving a cut that's not straight. You need the FB12-SC "straight cut" blade, not available at HD. 2) With a full roll of film, the tape wants to track off of the edge of the roll. As the roll gets used and diameter gets smaller this corrects itself. With lots of practice and the right blade this overpriced contraption works OK.

So hopefully you read the reviews for this Product before you buy. Also if you do decide to read a review unlike myself and do decide to buy this crap product then dont forget to also buy the crap blade that is sold seperately just to make more money. Anyways the blade is crap and so is the Hand masker. Like the other review says you have to pull the tape and plastic evenly, i had a hard time myself since i was doing my ceiling wall and riping it off at the sane time was not a clean cut at all. Buy at your own risk. I will be returning this crap tool!

Doesn't come as pictured with the roll holder attached (FB12-SC). Be cautious as Home Depot does sell a FB12 fill blade, but it doesn't have the holder on it like the SB12-SC. The roll of paper comes off of the small roller without the FB12-SC and you end up cutting everything off and starting over. Once you get the FB12-SC, it works great. Just disappointed that it didn't come ready to use, and the suggested item by home depot recommends isn't really the right part you need to get the job done. I generally expect more from Home Depot than this.

the metal tear off blade was missing. We did not notice until after buying it. Otherwise it would have worked great

Don't buy this. Way too much for a tool without a blade. The "no blade" warning is tiny and easy to miss. It's very damaging to a company like mine to show up to a job site with a tool that doesn't come with all the parts needed to make the tool work. Lots of my time and money wasted so that this manufacturer can save $3 by not including the blade.

Overpriced I wouldn’t buy this again.

Not sure if its user error or just the product itself. Very hard to use. Tape kept slipping off the plastic and wouldn’t be connected to the plastic. Very hard to do long runs. The cutting tool at the end didnt work either. Ended up cutting each time with sissors. Not totally sure if it was user error but i would not buy it again

This is a rip off, they don’t even sell the blade with the tool. It’s a bunch of cheap small plastic. That should only cost $15.

It showed everything but is not true only the handle so that's too much for this

Project was painting 4 rooms and hall at a church. This gun made junk work of masking off everything. Used it with plastic that covered 4 ft and also some paper that was 18 in. Quick and easy to apply .

Excellent product! Will buy again!

It was hard to use the tape and plastic didn’t line up properly

Bought this to mask when using my sprayer, but blue tape feeds onto paper with way too much tension causing a cease in paper which in turns make it impossible to get a straight line

53 bucks for a tape dispenser with NO blade. First thing in the instructions is attach blade. Bought online so I did not see the "" Blade sold separately "" on the package. Am I supposed to use my teeth to cut the plastic? So now I have a project starting tomorrow and have to drive to home depot and hope they sell the blade...stupid!

It doesn’t include the blade. Why would this be sold without the blade? It’s useless without it.

I grabbed it off the shelf, took it home, busted it out and i didn’t have the blade, included. I was somewhat dissapointed, but yet was okay with the fact that i could get by with a razor blade. Will purchase the blade next visit to HOME DEPOT. I have purchased many of the dispensers in the past, still have them in my tool box in Michigan. I am in Arizona now, so have another one!

I don’t know how to use this so my job is going to teach me

This product rocked once I cut off the edge guard. Edge guard is too strong and will not cut tape or thin film plastic.

does not come with the Cutting blade. The$ 21.blade (which is necessary) ; cost in addition to the $52 tool

Its simple. If youre left handed, you might have a problem. Otherwise, it works as designed.

Easy you and save your time

This is way overpriced for what it is.

No blades were available at HD so I had to go to Ace and buy a Scotch masker that came with a blade
