I bought pair of these to hang ceiling fans in two bedrooms. I used one and returned the other. The concept sounds great, bu in my case the joist span of 24 inches was a little too much for the plates to grip tightly without leaving some play in the mount. So when I mounted the fan, there was just a little too much wobble for me to accept. It might work just fine for and 18 inch span, but I can't say. So I'm switching to a pancake box mounted directly to a joist in the one room, and putting a solid cross-piece where I made the hole for the other.

Much better than the other brand I had purchased earlier. This one was only one on the shelf. Glad I bought it. Fan in place looks great, sturdy and easy to use.

If your fan box opening is too close to a floor rafter for a conventional bracket, this is your answer!

Product seems solid, but design flaw: the box cannot slide along the bar for lining up with ceiling hole. Box must be a fixed distance from rafter, but if no attic access, then cannot determine exact place to make hole in sheet rock. Crazy. Had to return it and buy functional product online.

It's the perfect thing for installing a new ceiling fan.

Worked great, has a little magnet on the back of the outlet box to hold it up while you put the screws in. It's holding my ceiling fans wonderfully.

Well, this worked well. Did worry a bit about the distance between beams for one area, but it worked. Very easy solution.

This is the easiest fan brace to install. Can be installed by a single worker.

Narrowest span was not quite narrow enough to fit between my rafters. Had some trouble wedging it in place.

this design helps with leveling bar by dropping triangular end tabs flush with ceiling. Keep in mind, not all ceilings are created equal. The building I live in is a hundred years old. The ceiling has a few inch gap between the beams and the ceiling. I made it work out, so far (installed a week ago). I needed to replace the screws with longer ones to accommodate the added depth.

It was easy to install. I gave it a good and not excellent rating due to the fact that I had to use 2 self-tapping screws to secure the mounting box to the rail. the existing mount that came with it was too loose. it had to much play!

This was way more robust than I thought it would be. It is very easy to install and a great product.

This box make for a easy straight forward installation. The original ceiling box was not able to support the weight of a ceiling fan, needed a simple solution without tearing up the ceiling.

The only issue I had was the final turns to secure it into the studs. Got a trusty pipe wrench and it worked like a charm.

Product works well and is easy to install. I used this to install a light fixture on a side wall (not a ceiling) where the builder had simply pulled the power to the fixture I was replacing versus mounting a fixture box. This product allowed me to position the fixture exactly where I needed it since you can move the box along the horizontal bar, between the wall studs.

Our electrician friend recommended this product and it worked perfectly in our mobile home ceiling to secure the fan.

we have used this brace a few times now and it is the easiest to install. perfect way to change the look of your lighting.

If you have an an older house, I would not recommend this product. If this was your only option, and you have an older house with plaster walls and ceilings, you are going to need longer mounting screws (to mount the ceiling fan to the retrofit fixture). They provide you with 1/2 inch. You actually need 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch.
