Q:How do you lower the new construction fan box to accommodate 1/2? drywall below it? It?s too high above the drywall
Has 2 3/8? nuts, 2 screws

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. If the ceiling has double or triple layers of drywall in order for the box to sit low enough for proper installation they would need a longer box than we, or any other fan box manufacturer we know, makes in order to use a fan brace in this application. The most likely solution would be for the installer to create a secure mounting mechanism, for example installing a cross beam that will allow them to use one of our stand alone boxes (either 1-1/2” or 2-1/8”). The fan/fixture box, when attached to the new mounting location, will position the bottom of the box in the appropriate location to comply with code.
