Easy to install

These are only painted and don’t have any rust protection other than that. HD doesn’t stock the HDG versions that provide the amount of protection needed for my application. In fairness, these are advertised as exactly what they are.

Cheaper elsewhere

A few of these, and several bags of concrete, make for a very secure deck.

Easy to set, at any height or flush with top of concrete. Clever anchorage with integral curled steel strips in lieu of anchor bolt. It's only made in one size--5.5". Don't know why they don't make one for rough timber--full 6"x6"size--so you don't have to cut a shallow recess on each side of post.
