Unbelievable! Kudos to Sharp - replaced a 16-year old microwave with an identical model, and it even used the same over-the-counter mounting. The new one is identical. Who makes an electrical appliance that lasts 16-years and then is replaceable by an exact same unit!

I selected I would recommend this, but that is only if you need a 24" microwave to go under a cabinet. There are no other options for under the cabinet. This week I just purchased from HD my 4th one of these over 16 years. The first three lasted about 3 years each, the one that went out this month lasted 6 years. The others, it was the LED panel. This time I just heard a pop, and the whole thing died. I have a review here I posted in 2013 for the same one. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, they have not changed in 16 years, so I just re-use the bracket. The microwave works fine. Features are fine. Looks good. Just realize that you will be replacing every 3-6 years. I have an appliance voltage surge protector on it, and the last one lasted 6 years, so that may have helped. The prior 3, no appliance surge protector, only lasted 3 years each. If I were to build my cabinets again, I would build a shelf under the cabinet, and put a countertop microwave on the shelf. Much cheaper.

Bought this unit to replace same model purchased in 2003 after 16 years of regular use. Display had failed in the original unit and otherwise continued to work just fine. Great product, glad to know they are still making it.

Because it is a built in style, the best feature is that it fit perfectly in the location we have for it. It has good microwave power, and it is easy and simple to use. It looks good too, with its stainless steel finish. we have had the microwave installed for a month. The only negative is that it makes a slight buzzing noise on startup, but that is really a minor thing.

Wonderful Microwave. Replaces same exact one that was 10 years old. Couldn’t install by myself- had a contractor do it, but only took about 20 minutes.

We purchased the exact same model 15.5 years ago (yes FIFTEEN years ago). the LED time display died few years back, but the microwave works well, so we've been using it without any issue. I just happened to look this up for no real reason than to see what's out on the market for a replacement and was shocked that (1) they still sell the EXACT SAME MODEL we purchased 15.5 years ago, and (2) much cheapter! (we paid over $450 back then). given the age and the problem with the LED display, we decided to replace our old one even though it's functionally still works. I'd say reliability (other than the display) is superb. the defrost and all the other fancy controls is a hit-or-miss especially when defrosting raw meat, mostly because of our poor ability to judge the size/weight of the meat we need defrosting and end up over-defrosting and cooking it.. So intead of using the pre-programmed stuff we've been just stepping down the power to about 20%-30% and manually monitor the defrost progress. (since the display died few years back, we just count how many times we press the "power" button to gauge the power setting.) undercabinet task lighting is a bit dim. but this was actually a plus 15 years ago when we needed to warm up the baby bottle for a midnight feeding and was prepping the bottle in the dark, and going right back into a dark room.. will not blind you. otherwise the rest of the kitchen has full bright undercounter lighting, etc., so didn't really need bright light.

Great product and same fit and function as the previous eight year old product.

An exact replacement for what we had before. Old one was 16 years old, the digital numbers were not lighting up correctly, when you hit start it sounded like it was taking off.

2nd Sharp #1214 built in microwave...works like a charm and fits cabinet space perfectly. Home Depot delivered unit on the day after I ordered it...can't ask for more than that.

I had to return this due to it not being a model that could sit ON the counter. But I loved the look of it and really wanted to keep it. I have always loved Sharp.

it does the job, and does it well. This was a replacement for an identical model that went blooey, so it’s familiar. it’s powerful (I suppose; i’m used to it) and easy to use.

Replaced an burned out oven with this same model. Reinstallation was smooth.

The Home Depot made this purchase simple. The microwave oven was exactly what we were expecting. It fit into the existing cabinet space perfectly replacing a sixteen year old model. I didn't even need to remove the older securing plate for the unit's install.

The item was a replacement for the same kind 10-year old microvawe that stopped working. It is a good microwave and the replacement was easy

We bought this microwave to replace the exact same model that is now 15 years old. I think even the price has not changed much. We are about to install it, and are really hoping Sharp has maintained the same quality. We opted for an over-the-counter model in order to save counter space when we renovated it. Thank goodness this is still available, because it is really the only affordable unit on the market. The stainless/black design coordinates with the coffee maker and grinder that live below it. The photo shows the stainless parts as muddy tan, which is not accurate. The LED readout failed more than a year ago, but we could still operate it due to long experience with its settings. Finally, the turntable started having issues. I will post another review and a pic once the new one is up and running.

very good product. This was a replacement for the identical unit purchased around 8-10 years ago. Fit perfectly over the counter using the original hardware from previous model.
