The depth of the doors necessary to accommodate the showcase feature means you have to have a bigger opening for the fridge to fit in or the fridge extends 4" beyond the counter. But the fridge is awesome!

The worst refrigerator ever!!!!!!
I purchased this refrigerator two years ago and within the first year the ice maker stopped working. It was still under the one year warranty, so Samsung sent someone out to repair it. Now here we are two years and two months later and this refrigerator has completely stop work. It will not hold a temperature. I had a service repair service come and try to repair it. To no avail. All the inside panels were replaced but this still did not fix the issue. When I called Samsung the representative informed my warranty is up and there is nothing they can do help. This is very disheartening considering the price I paid for the refrigerator and the fact it only lasted a little over two years. I'm very disappointed in the durability and quality of the unit.

      Lovely fridge, if only it stayed lovely after the warranty ends. First it stopped staying cool, and had to pay a lot for a samsung technician to come out to tell me the problem, then tell me he didn't have the parts to fix it. So I had to pay him to come out AGAIN with the parts in hand to fix it. THEN the icemaker started freezing over to the point I have to thaw it monthly for it to produce ice. Google samsung ice maker issue. You'll see plenty of complaints there. I'm so regretting this purchase. Looks nice, but it's been a pain.

          Very disappointed with this appliance. Frequently ices over which affects the cooling fan and requires continual de-thawing. Ice maker is small and takes a while to re-fill. Also slow to dispense. The outside water function also shoots water out at such a high pressure it frequently rebounds out of the glass an onto the floor... and the person getting the water. If you like getting soaked when you grab a quick glass of water, and you like taking the food out of your refrigerator every few weeks to de-frost/de-thaw it then this appliance is for you. Given the cost and hassle, I recommend NOT buying. I would not buy again and would not recommend to a friend.

            Awful ice maker
            The fridge itself is OK. Doesn't hold much but I suppose that is expected with a counter depth model. The ice maker on the other hand is terrible. We had one of Samsung's authorized repair companies out 4 times to try to fix it, the last time was even with a Tech Rep from Samsung, and they still cannot resolve the issues. It works for a while and then a month or so later reverts to making slushy ice along with constant dripping from the dispenser area. Every time, the same problem. Now Samsung tells us they will no longer cover the repair since the fridge is out of warranty. Well you never fixed the problem to begin with, had it been fixed properly when it was still under warranty none of this would be necessary. I imagine the problem could have to do with the fact that the actual ice maker unit is in the refrigerator section, not the freezer section. So some of that warmer air might seep in and melt the ice. I don't know, all I know is we have 4 Samsung TV's, and this Samsung refrigerator will be the last Samsung product we purchase. Their Customer Service (outsourced) is very poor as well.

For best performance, your unit should have the right temperature which is 0 ºF for the freezer and 37 ºF for the refrigerator. Verify if the water pressure is not low (water should dispense at a minimum of 6 ounces in under 10 seconds).               We bought this fridge 7/17. While still under Samsung 1 year warranty, a part fell off of the door hinge. We have been trying to deal with Samsung support for about two weeks now. They issued four orders to fix the problem, but they cancelled them. They have finally denied our claim because of “physical damage”. Customer support has either been rude, placed us on hold for up to an hour, and / or lied to us every time we called them. We have spent many hours dealing with this. Bottom line: Samsung does not honor their warranty and customer service is atrocious.

                ice freezer and fan in twin cooling unit freeze up.
                ice forms near the fan on the twin cooling unit causing not enough air going to the ice making unit. When that happens ice that is made begins to melt causing water to come out when you call for ice, then ice will come out. The fan in the twin cooling unit also makes a lot of noise because the fan blades are hitting ice that has formed in the unit. I have to unload the refrigerator, luckily I have another refrigerator in the garage and shut the Samsung off to let the ice melt, clean up the mess and turn it back on and move everything back in. Samsung is aware of this defect and I find I am not the only one with this problem. But, Samsung has chosen to ignore it as they have other issues that I've had with their appliances.

                      Samsung icemakers have a design flaw that is non-repairable. Have had this one for three years and numerous visits from the service technicians. Basically having an icemaker in the refrigerator compartment is problematic. They have not solved it yet. Look at other reviews before purchasing, not just the Home Depot reviews. Other than that, door in door was cool at the beginning and never used after about six months. But the space and overall layout of the refrigerator is very good for a counter depth refrigerator.

                        SAMSUNG Showcase Refrigerator Model RF23HTEDBSR. After one year of use the ice maker drips water continuously, through the ice chute and then on the floor. We actually need to keep a towel in the tray to keep if from puddling. The inside of the ice maker has a huge amount of frost and quits making ice. I made adjustments Samsung suggested but no help. Called Samsung for help/service but they are awful. They actually told me to buy a backup refrigerator and turn off the new Samsung Showcase Refrigerator for 5 days to troubleshoot. Luckily I purchased the Home Depot Service Plan because SAMSUNG's "support" is completely useless. I had it serviced a few months ago and the service company already knew of the issue since it is apparently systemic. They put in a new ice maker, but same issues again. Can't put lipstick on a pig. It is doing it again and will need to be recplaced once more less than 6 months from the last time. Do not buy this refrigerator!! In fact i don't plan to buy Samsung again.
