It works for about 2 years before needing to be replaced again. This new one has a little electric hum to it when it runs. I hope it lasts 2 years.

The Rain Bird valve was exact match and the sprinklers worked properly after the installation.

Ok for the money
Good considering price. These solenoids don’t last as long as the better “professional” ones, but they are reasonably priced and are in stock at Home Depot.

Wheres the reliability?
In irrigation for 10+ years. Have clients with orig Rain Bird valves with no issue. I myself have two older rainbirds and 10 Hunter pgvs. Had one of the 15-year-old Rainbird valves crack during a freeze as expected and replaced new its all I had at the time. Solenoid burnt up in 2 weeks. Replace solenoid, good for 2 weeks and then valve stayed stuck on. Swapped entire valve, one month later stuck on again. Same deal with several other customers. Never issues with Hunter. Waste of time and money!

We appreciate your feedback and I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the Rain Bird in-line valve. Regarding the solenoid, sometimes the plunger inside the solenoid can become stuck in the upward position due to dirt or debris. To remedy, you'll want to run water into the solenoid to dislodge dirt, or push a piece of wire into the small hole in the retainer at the bottom of the solenoid to see if the plunger inside will move up and down freely. If it does not, that's when you'd want to replace. As for the valve staying stuck in the on position, it may also be a result of dirty or debris filled water that's caused a blockage in the diaphragm. You'll want to check the small ports for blockage; rinse and inspect diaphragm and diaphragm seat for dirt or damage. In the event troubleshooting isn't possible, we do offer complete satisfaction on all of our products, and it may be returned to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund. We do hope you will consider Rain Bird for your future watering needs.

Once getting ready to replace old valve I realized the threads on the new valve were stripped making it impossible to use. So I had to take new valve apart use parts inside of it to repair old valve. How can a threaded inline valve be without threads on one side
