Q:Will they withstand Arizona sun if outside or should I paint them?
by|Feb 2, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Rain Bird in-line valves can withstand high heat and humidity, but they are intended to be installed below ground and in a valve box with cover, so sun exposure should be minimal. Q:Do the timer controllers come with wire to connect to solenoid valve?
    by|Oct 16, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Rain Bird irrigation controllers come with a transformer/powercord, mounting hardware, instruction manual and scheduling card. Alternatively, Rain Bird valves come with a solenoid with preinstalled solenoid wire and instruction manual. Should you need longer runs of direct burial wire for the solenoid connection to controller, you'll also need watertight electrical wire connectors for solenoid connection to direct burial wire, which can be purchased from a home improvement store. Q:Will the bad valve twist out once the zone line is cut? What is the nominal life expectancy of an installed valve? Is the “average” valve manifold difficult to repair? I use black poly pipe in my yard. My supply manifold is PVC.

      Answer This Question

A:  When initially installing, some people will use threaded PVC couplers on the main line coming into the valve, as well as on the outlet, which allows for easy removal/replacement of the valve in the future. However, that is a more expensive install, which is why it's often underutilized in the field. That said, if everything is already installed with watertight connections, you may have to cut the inlet and outlet PVC pipes to remove the valve in the event the valve needs to be replaced, which is common practice. All that said, before you have to go there, we'd recommend contacting our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) so that we can first troubleshoot the valve, connections, controllers, etc., before undertaking the ASVF removal/reinstallation process.

Q:How do know if it's bad? Zone waters with every other zone?

        Answer This Question

A:  If your sprinklers do not turn on (i.e., valve doesn’t open), there are four possible causes. (1) Damaged or disconnected wire - Inspect and repair as required. (2) Damaged solenoid - Replace solenoid. Kit # SRK-CP/CPF. (3) Damaged diaphragm - Remove bonnet (top) and replace diaphragm. Kit # DRK-JTV. (4) Flow Control knob (if equipped) - Knob must be open, turned counterclockwise. Adjust to control water amounts to sprinklers. If after checking the aforementioned you're still experiencing issues, we’d love to walk you through the steps to troubleshoot. Just reach out to our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) so we can help.

Q:Will this valve handle 10 gallons per minute at 60 psi without reduction of pressure or flow?
          by|Jun 30, 2023
          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  The operating pressure range for the Rain Bird CP100 In-Line valve is 15-150 PSI, while the flow range is 0.2-22 GPM. Based on your specifications (10 GPM @ 60 PSI) there would be no issues. Should you have any additional questions, or if you would like additional help in setting up or operating the valve, please feel free to contact our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) and we’d be more than happy to assist.

Q:I have a 7 zone system that is working good except zone 6. I get very little water out of zone 6. Only 3-4 heads in the lower area of the zone have flow. I opened the valve manually and still low flow. Do I need to replace the Rainbird zone valve?

              Answer This Question

A:  You could have a blockage further up the line that is not allowing water to reach the valve. Alternatively, you could have a blockage in the valve itself above the diaphragm not allowing full passage of water. If you are still experiencing issues, we’d love to walk you through the steps to troubleshoot. Just reach out to our technical support at 1-800-RAIN BIRD (800-724-6247) so we can help.
