My wife assembled the two parts in seconds, slapped in one of our Ryobi batteries and went to work on the edging while I mowed. We have been thoroughly impressed with all the battery powered Ryobi tools and yard equipment we own, this one has proven to be no different. Easy to operate and great results. We switched from gas as ethanol additive seems to clog up fueling systems if equipment not used frequently. Only comment would be that this edger draws power out of the battery quite quickly. It took two batteries for her to finish the job. I will add some before and after pics so you can see the quality this edger provides.

I’m extremely surprised how well it works
This is my first edger and I am new to keeping up with a lawn. I am usually very skeptical about battery powered lawn tools but this did a great job. It was able to dig a nice trench through clay soil and leave a very clean edge. My neighbhors have approached me asking me to borrow this edger. I think we all have one at this point. The battery was able to last quite a while and I was able to use the remainder of the battery on my weed edger.

I really like it. It's very lightweight. I got 4amp and 2 3amp batteries so I got plenty of power time run all the way around my driveway and sidewalk. Estimate would be 200-300 feet. I used it so far one time with 4amp battery and when I finished the battery wasn't dead yet. I don't think 1.3amp or 2.0amp would last too long. Get the bigger one.

I picked this up today so I cant comment on the reliability of the unit but I gotta give it a lot of credit! I've asked a lot from it so far and it has performed admirably. I'm powering it with the 3ah lithium+ batteries and on my severely overgrown edges, it is cutting 50-65' per battery. I think a lot of the reviews are too critical on performance; this is a light duty tool that a lot of people are asking way too much of. Heck, I'm asking way too much but I've been taking it easy. I dont let the motor bog down or stall; instead, I'll make some lighter cuts up top and make a few passes to get down to the meat of the problem. Working in this manner, the tool does its job and I just let it eat. I'm confident that when I eventually get the bulk of the work done, this little Ryobi will do a great job of cleaning things up on a weekly basis. Regardless, I'll update the review after some time has passed but my initial impression is quite good.

      My new "Go Too" edger!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Use this several times a week for the few houses that I landscape. Very happy with the results! Powerful enough to get the job done with no cord or gas!! Love it! Excellent product!

The edger is great when it works, but the battery life is so short of a few minutes when it runs. I had to recharge it 4 times to complete my yard edging and each time it was one hour to charge. I returned it for a refund, thank you. RYOBI you need a larger battery pack to have this perform well.

Bought this and the 4.0 battery separate. The 4.0 battery had enough power to do my walk and edge around my place. Started at the most shallow setting and after each pass made the adjustment deeper. Don't start at the deepest setting, especially if you have not edged yet. Take it slow and make 4 passes. The 4.0 battery will last. Soon all the Ryobi tools will be sold with the 4.0 battery. Careful, look at the box when buying ryobi products. Some tools come with battery and charger, some tools will have the 'old' 1.3 battery look at all the boxes. Home depot is trying to get rid of the tools with the 1.3 battery's and selling it at the same price as the new box with the new more powerful 4.0 battery .. CHECK THE BOX for battery size. Not to say the 1.3 batterys are bad but they just need to be charged up because they drain faster. So have a few 1.3 batterys charged so you can finish the job. or pay 80 bucks for the new 4.0 battery. This is my 6th ryobi product.. I love this entire line of cordless convenience!! It is nice that most tools come with a battery and charger.Always have a few batteries charged up before you start your project so you will be able to finish up!

The Edger required 5 battery charges to get my driveway and sidewalks done. I may return it for one with a more powerful battery - the Ryobi 40 Volt model. It is a good thing that I already have three 18 volt batteries and 2 chargers, but replacing the battery so often is an annoyance for me.

Feature I love most is product is it is easy to grip and also easy to assemble. I love the adjustable height selection. I found the highest setting to be comfortable and adequate. I would like a wheel that glides along the hard surfaces to be wider cause it was difficult for me to remain on seawall / sidewalks. I purchased on 4/2/2019 and have used it twice in two weeks. Cut the grass evenly. As always, Ryobi never disappoints and this tool exceeds my expectations. My neighbor is also impressed and going to purchase one, too.

Excellent edger loved it! With that said to all of you who have read the bad reviews This cordless edger is worth the price every bit. Also if its your first time edging your lawn remember you might go threw a battery or 2, because your edger is working harder to dig and make that edge for the first time. After that it is a breeze doing the edges. Makes your lawn look Sharp and Cleaner longer. :)

love this tool, perfect with my 18v collection. Works great, no problems with edging or trimming the garden with it. Beats dealing with a string trimmer cuz I can never get it straight. Make sure you use a 3ah or higher cuz I put a 1.3 battery on it, wasnt enough power or juice to edge, it stalled a few times and bogged down a bit.

I got this edger about 3 weeks ago. The tool works fairly well but, if you have a lot of edging to do, you're either going to need a lot of replacement batteries or a lot of patience. It does not hold a charge for very long. Might do 100 feet at the time before stopping to recharge. I am hoping that subsequent "maintenance" edging won't be quite as painful but, I will be getting another battery pack. There also seems to be significant wear on the blade already so, I'm sure that it will require regular replacement. I would recommend this product for people with relatively small areas to edge. You might want something more powerful/longer lasting for larger jobs.

Super powerful, ease of use, the best edger I've ever owned...and I've been through a bunch. Since I have a lot of Ryobi tools, and 8 batteries, I actually replaced another brand's 2-cycle combo edger/weedeater with the Ryobi 18v edger and weedeater. No more going through the steps of replacing the edger part with the weedeater part, no more pulling on the dang cord to start, no more messing with gas and oil. At first, I was worried the 18v edger and weedeater wouldn't be powerful enough. But, they are just as powerful, if not more powerful, than the 2-stroke edger/weedeater I replaced. Do yourself a favor, swap those old 2-stroke edgers and weedeaters for the Ryobi 18v edger and weedeater.

Product was easy to assemble and extremely lightweight, I bought this product as a backup to my larger gas powered Craftsman edger. This little edger made doing the outside edge of my corner lot so much easier as my bigger edger was a pain to adjust and try and keep on the curb. I had tried using my string trimmer to do the edging but was burning through so many spools buying this to go with my other Ryobi One products just made more sense. I tried it out today and just testing with the larger capacity battery I was able to do not only my outside edge but all the other edging around my sidewalks that I would have done with the gas edger so much more convenient.

For the price- the quality is there. This unit is made of steel where its needed and has a powerful motor for my residential property. Battery lasts a long time under full running conditions....grass edge surrounds a 2000 sq ft home. Metal blade does eat itself during the job, so that is something that will be replaced about 2 a year. Battery works in other Ryobis. Charger can charge battery....after initial first charge in about 2 hours. Charger is also well made. I put mine on a timer in the shed....it charges for 1 hour every night and is always ready when I need it for the lawn. Wheel is permanently mounted on left side so you are always moving in only one direction with this model. This model throws its dirt forward so you walk through everything it cleans out of the lawn as you advance.

Nice to be cordless! Easy to use. I like the adjustable height feature. Battery life is short, as I anticipated. I have a small yard and used 3 batteries to finish. I am having trouble with the handle staying tight, despite tightening hard. Ryobi quality is great, while hoping to get the handle tight.

The perfect tool for the professional edging.
I recently moved from New York where my grass was Kentucky Blue grass. Edging with a string trimmer was not a problem. Here in Georgia the grass is a vine like Centipede type and my Craftsman string trimmer uses a lot of .060" string to cut through the vines. I bought my first Ryobi because my friend back in NY swears by the One+ 18V tools. Using the Ryobi Edger made edging up my sidewalk and driveway go quickly, it was easy and it looks so professional. My wife likes the edging job too and now wants me to edge the flower gardens where the adjustable depth will really come in handy. I am looking forward to getting many more of the One+ tools.

            Good Add on for Edging
Pretty cool tool. Not sure if it is 100% necessary but definitely better than edging with a shovel or any other alternative. If you have other Ryobi ONE+ tools then this is the way to go if you have an edger. I am righty so this was a little awkward at first cause i am used to handling tools the other way. Didn't take long to get used to. Cuts through small roots but stops a bigger ones. Has a guard to protect from pieces of dirt flying up. I would wear goggles. Has 4 different heights and a collapsible handle for support.

            Light weight
Looking for a quick light weight solution to maintain those edged looks around patios sidewalks driveways this is the tool. No cords to fight with and the battery with included quick charge charger makes short work of the project. Comes with sturdy scalloped edge blade that will cut through most vegetation. The edger comes in two easy to connect pieces and a built in guide wheel for balancing.

Saves dragging out the gas unit - works well
This battery operated edger is from the Ryobi 18 volt one plus family. It uses the same lithium ion battery pack as several Royobi tools. It proved to be more powerful than I thought it would. The first time you use to edge a previously un-edged or overgrown sidewalk, it will take some time and effort to complete the job – just as it does even with a gas powered edger. I used it on use on a long sidewalk – over 300 feet long – and it required two battery charges to get through. Subsequent weekly/bi weekly edging /clean up was a breeze and a single battery pack got the job done. It is much lighter to use and quicker to get going than my gas unit. It has four depth adjustments, and the deepest cut provides a very clean edge. I recommend you use the unit when the lawn is dry – as damp conditions can cause mud buildup within the shield causing drag on the cutting blade.

Not very powerful - Soft blades
Not very impressed with this Edger. We charged the battery as directed and assembled the handle (which was very easy), the blade was already installed which was a bonus. Performance: The blade will not spin if you position the unit on the grass and press the trigger, you have to lift it up, press the trigger and then put it down. I'm sure this is typical but every now and then the unit stops and the safety switch shuts off the juice. You have to constantly lift up the unit, press the trigger and put it back down to make it work. Durability: The blade (as seen in the pics) has already worn down quite a bit (particularly on the ends) after only 5-10 minutes of use. My concerns is that the blade is too soft and will simply become useless after doing my whole yard once. I wouldn't think one would need to replace the blade so soon or often.

            Works like a dream
Another great tool in the Ryobi line. Comes with tool, battery and charger. Easily put together. Also comes with tools to change out the blade when the need arises. Blade is thick.. About 1/4"..I'm guessing..Tried it out along the edge of the driveway and the results were pretty clean. The handle is also adjustable so you can set the height you need to use this tool comfortably. Also has 4 height settings for the blade. Works with all plus batteries in the collection, so that's another big plus. Now I wont have to use a string trimmer to try and edge the driveway or the curb. Another awesome tool from Ryobi.

The Best Cordless Edger for the Home Owner.
I accept the credibility when they say that Nothing beats the RYOBI ONE+ system for the perfect union of convenience and versatility. This 18-Volt Steel bladed Edger features a lithium-ion battery that works great: it has lot of power. The RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Edger is backed by a 3-year warranty. This Cordless edger which works with a rechargeable 18-Volt Lithium-ion battery, is ideal for anyone who's tired of dealing with gas powered edger or 120 volt AC with cords. With a lightweight design and instant starting, this edger also features a 9 in. dual serrated blade with a 4-position adjustable depth control. The 18-Volt Lithium-ion battery recharges in just 1 hour, and provides your Edger with fade-free performance for the entire life of the charge. I really appreciate it's performance, and would like to recommend to all home owners who love the conveniences this machine can provide you.
