This is after the first use. Tired of the yard guys weed eater trim, I wanted an actual edge. The Echo gas edger died, and was good -BUT- the Ryobi 18v edger is so much easier and quieter. The 4ah battery would have finished my yard, however the first edging in years took a lot more work. For the average homeowner this is the way to go no more mixing (or over paying for premixed), storing, and spilling gas. Just click in the battery and go, I’m a fan.

I bought this edger in May 2021. Worked great until in May 2023 IT STARTED ON FIRE (the motor at the bottom of the edger). Called Ryobi because it was under their 3 year warranty and they made me take it to authorized center. The authorized center submitted paperwork to Ryobi but Ryobi HAS DONE NOTHING! It is now 8 months later. I have called and emailed Ryobi at least a dozen times and THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING! Their product. Their 3 year warranty. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WARRANTY!

Worked great for 2-3mos or 8-10 uses. The blade guard ended up separating from the plastic motor housing and the product is no longer usable. The blade/guard is held to the motor housing with plastic screw guides that sheared off, which I believe is a massive weak point & fatal design flaw. Ryobi support has been extrememly slow to respond and after about a month of back & fourth, their answer is to either take it to a service center an hour and a half away or ship it to them at my expense.

Absolutely excellent tool. Does a wonderful job. Highly recommend. I like Ryobi tools so much I’m buying the company, one tool at a time!

The edger it self is fine. It will do the job it is intended, but it is weak. Do not spend the extra money for the battery and charger. The battery is trash. Can’t get but about 15 to 20 mins. It’s not worth money what a rip off. I do own the 40volt string trimmer and many of the attachments. If you have started the collection just get the edger attachment. Do not wast your money on the trash 18volt tools.

This edger does the job without the cord or gasoline. The problem is that it eats batteries. If you are not willing to buy multiple 4 amp batteries you won’t be happy. I love this tool because the benefits outweigh the the additional costs for the batteries.

Very clean edges, the wheel locks on the side of the lawn creating the straight line that I need for my lawn mowing business. The blade cuts clean and straight, at the top of my list for most complete lawn equipment. Appreciate it Ryobi!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Ryobi edger to replace an old one that I had for a few years. This one has the two wheels instead of just one like the old one which make it easier to run along the edge by the street. It has a heavier blade and a better adjustment for the depth and work much better. It's also easier to use so I recommend this for anyone wanting a good cordless edger.

I'm really loving this edger. All my other tools are Ryobi so being able to swap the battery is great. It is a battery powered edger so I obviously wasn't expecting something super powerful but I am only using it at home. If I was running a lawn maintenance business I would probably want something else but this is more than enough for my home use and my lawn is looking great.

Very easy to handle, and for the most part edges at a regular walking speed. I have a large circular drive and always finish on one 2Ah battery. But I did follow the advice of another reviewer, not to attempt to cut to deep.

Made it about 18 inches before the motor fried. Tried several new batteries just to make sure. Won’t start up anymore.

Was concerned about using metal blade due to irrigation. But after one use-am glad we got it! Prior combination trimmer/edgers took (2) 4amh batteries to do the job and plastic blades/string…This edger only used ½ of a 4amh battery and is quiet. Much of our edging is along cement sidewalks/curbs and of very thick grass/weeds/stolens. It takes a toll on plastic/string and due to vibration-the shield. Our edging results are similar to the other pictures, so will show some images of blade depth-but angle is hard to duplicate. Opinion: Not much difference between depth levels 1-4. Level 1 is deepest…level 4 shallowest. Tilted the unit back on large wheel to guide the depth level further. If "knicks" cement-not much "kick-back”/blade impact. Once cut power-blade may rotate to a stop-be careful. Comes with “wrench-tool” to change blade. Already have the batteries. Still need a trimmer. Once have used it more -may add to the review….

bought this style egder since I got tired of using the string weed Wacker as a edger and I must say it's worth it . battery life wasn't a issue . great outcome

Purchased this fully expecting to return it. I have probably 20-25 Ryobi 18v tools. Love them all, but i expected that the d constant presure on the battery from an edger would cause the battery to go down quickly. I was able to edge about 300 feet if sidewalk with one 4amp battery. I hadnt edged the side walk in probably 5 years. It did a great job and for $79 you cant gor wring!

I should have began my RYOBI Yard tool collection with this item....It saves on weedeater line against cement walkways. Lightweight and powerful to put the edges where they are needed....I am 65 years old and can handle these RYOBI battery operated yard tools just fine. Thank you RYOBI, for thinking of us women who have to do things themselves and for making life a lot easier on us

This thing does a fantastic job if you take your time and go slower than you would with a gas powered edger. I see a lot of reviews complaining about battery life. I would highly recommend the Ryobi 4Ah battery instead of the tiny one that comes with it. The battery still had 2 bars left when I finished my front lawn. At the price point of this tool, what's an extra few bucks for a battery that isn't going to run out after 30 feet of sidewalk?

I was excited to find what I felt was a good value on a rechargeable battery operated edger. Out of box, it was easy to assemble. Imagine my surprise when, after fully charging the battery, I was able to edge about 1/10th of my yard! My partner and I were shocked. So, charged it again...again...another 1/10th completed! Yes, my yard had been edged recently by a lawn care company so it wasn’t a first edge. Also, I did adjust so it didn’t have to work hard. Can you imagine an entire day dedicated JUST to complete a yard edging?!?! ....because that’s what it will take if I use this edger. Having a corner lot, there is no way I can keep this edger or I’ll have to quit my day job just to complete my yard! I am going to return ASAP.

I liked the easyness of the edger cutting through My clay soil and all weeds and grass. The key is take it slow,and close to the edge of concreate! My experience with this edger is awesome. If you're having trouble with the edger,remember it's not the edger sorry but it's you! Or set the cut depth more shorter.

I am so disappointed in the 1.5Ah battery of this product that is a shame that they actually sell this hardware with this small battery. is this product easy to assemble? yes. Does it have the strength to cut typical size Lot houses grass? if your yard was previously edged; yes, if not it will get stuck. I had to turn the device on in the air then lower it to cut. The battery is just garbage. I have to do one side of my front patio of 75 feet wide by 100feet Lot house I have, I live in a subdivision. I looked like a fool passing it. getting back to the house charge it....passing it again and I am still not finished. It is probably going to take me 4 charges more to finish. When I was going to buy this I read all reviews to buy the EGO POWER EDGER....but since I saw the price I was thinking a no brainer I guess why people go with the EGO. There are no features since this is, hit the button and cut the grass, simple product. The length of the handle is too short and I am 5'-10".

Out of the box, this feels like a very quality piece. Well-engineered, and visually very nice. Used it for the first time tonight, overall very impressed by it. Plenty of power to get through some thick over-growth. Left a nice, clean edge (see photos)! My only criticism is there isn’t a great way to stand it up or sit it down. You kind of lean it in a corner, or lay it on its side. Regardless, great product at a great value! I hope it lasts a long time.

Good edger...does the job.

Did a great job for the first run but more of a light duty tool. Design is easy to use. Took 1 minute to get it going out of the box. Good for Bermuda and other light grasses. Might not be strong enough for thicker lawns. Wish they made a 40v version!

i havent edged my house in two years because i never thought about buying edger finally broke down a bought one and i hate gas powered tools and didnt want to spend alot of money this worked out great. i used it for hours taking care of all of the over grown grass on my concrete i got 2 of the 4amp 18 volt battery. great product took care of everything i put in front of it

I just bought this a few days ago and was finally able to use it today. The area i was edging is approx 150ft there and 150ft back. 4 batterys.....i had to use 4 batterys to edge my lawn. I get that the area is a decent amout to edge but now i have to either wait 3 hours for the batterys to charge to finish blowing/weedwacking or go buy more batterys. Dont waste your time with this product if your lawn is bigger then a two car driveway. Or you better stock up on batterys.

My 2-cycle edger just broke. I changed over to a battery powered Ryobi blower and trimmer. So, I wanted to add a battery power edger. I found the P2300 edger at my local Home Depot. I edged my entire front, 150 ft. and the battery still had 4 bars left. It's lightweight but very powerful and did a better job than my gas powered unit. I'm very Impressed.

This is a great tool for samll area eadeging. It did great job. Wish battery was more poweful. Overall it’s a gerat tool
