This bookcase was well priced (actually, I got it on sale), looks good, and matched the website description. It was also fairly easy to put together. What made it a little confusing to assemble was that one of the pieces was mislabeled; the sticker that was supposed to indicate the back was actually on front. I don't think this will be an issue once the shelves and books are in place, though. So, really, I have only 1 complaint: it stinks! Really! I haven't put it in my room yet because of the smell. It has been in my garage to off-gas for about a week now (no exaggeration!). I hope I'm happy with it once I start using it.

So glad the hunt is over! I had such a hard time trying to find the perfect sized narrow width bookcase for a small specific wall area between two doorway entrances in my family room, but was able to find it here! Piece looks beautiful and the books pop nicely in the black finish.

I was looking for a bookcase that could fit in a narrow section. This bookcase does that and gives me the height I was looking for, to store more things. Some reviews stated that the product off-gases and I was concerned about that because other furniture pieces have given me a headache before, and although this had a "new" smell, it did not give me a headache and I did not have to leave it outside the house for 3 days. I do notice the smell of a new furniture piece when I come into the room first thing in the morning, but it is decreasing as days go by. After being assembled it seems sturdy enough, it is not wobbly and I do not have a need to secure it to the wall. My only complaint is the materials are a bit soft and tend to nick easily so it may not hold up to the test of time, but I will have to see as I did just assemble it 2 days ago.

Based on the number of books double-stacked on my old, falling apart discount store special, it was time to get more space. These fit the bill perfectly. The assembly is straight-forward, though it does benefit from having a second pair of hands. The pilot holes for the back panel screws don't precisely line up, but are still workable. I'm very happy with the appearance of the finished bookshelves, particularly for the price. The wood seemed to ding easily during assembly, but a sharpie worked great for touching up the black finish.

This bookcase is beautiful and sturdy. The only thing that gives away that it's a do-it-yourself piece is the fact that there are no caps to hide the silver bolt attachments and the shelf supports are just white plastic (but you have to look hard to see those).

I purchased this bookcase for my family room and am very happy that decision. The bookcase looks great in the room and is actually more quality than I was expecting. It was easy to assemble-I did it by myself in about 15-20 min. I would certainly recommend this item for anyone looking and will consider this line of furniture in the future.

The finished product is nice. Back panel was a bit tricky to line up.

The cam-locks that were provided for these shelves were of poor quality (basically, pot-metal). They were difficult to engage with the cam-bolts, requiring us to use a clamp to hold the shelves during assembly. Two cam-locks broke while being fastened. There was a paint run on one piece of shelving, as well. Also, after assembly, the mounting hardware is visible, taking away from the overall appearance.

This is exactly what I was looking for. The dimensions were perfect. I looked all over in local stores for a 24" bookcase. Nothing. The color of wood matches perfect in the room and it is quite sturdy. You can't ask for anything more for the price. Very happy!

Not bad looking overall .... I believe the price is a little high. Easy to assemble, fair quality, one side panel arrived with a crack, customer service responded quickly with a replacement. Items have a strong chemical odor when first unpacked ... the odor goes away in 2-3 days.

Well made quality product. I purchased several pieces in this collection and they are all made of the same quality product.

Happy to find a bookcase to fit a space in the hallway so twin 3'rd graders can share reading books. White, sturdy with real hardwood and sits between two rooms loaded over 500 chapter books.

The bookcase is exactly what I was looking for. Instructions were easy to follow and I was able to put it together all by myself. The color is a beautiful chestnut. Very durable - I filled three shelves with photo albums and one shelf with yearbooks. Very sturdy. You will not be disappointed!

This bookcase was no more difficult to put together than other bookcases I've assembled in the past, although, the screw holes for the back panel weren't aligned at all, and the panel did not go on straight. Also, the fumes were so strong from the varnish the first night that I woke up with a severe headache--be sure to let it air out for a couple of days. It looks nice though and is true to the picture and I am very happy with it now...

We really would have preferred a real wood bookcase, but since that is out of our price range, this one works nicely. There were some dings and scrapes in the veneer, but a marker colored those in and you can't even tell now. Overall, we are satisfied.

Two parts were defective on the original bookcase. Re-ordered parts arrived in ten days. Assembly took one skilled person two hours. Finished product looks good. Middle shelf is stationary which limits placement of other shelves.

I wanted this bookshelf as an entryway item and to have a sturdy place to house our 'stuff' as we come in the door. Little did I know (should have guessed) the back of the shelf is one of those flimsy cardboard sheets. The sides, top and shelves are fairly sturdy and some kind of wood, but the cardboard back was really disappointing. It was not easy to assemble, either, and I'm good at those things! I will keep it because I don't want to have to take it apart, but it will be relegated to the basement family room as media storage.

Had already bought the matching oxford desk so when we moves we had room for these. Great quality and looks very close to a Ballard design line but not so expensive!

Definitely got the most for my money with this bookcase. Appearance is way better in person than pictured. Very sturdy as long as you use the wall mount. Love it!

i received it in a long flat box. It was very heavy. Packaged was secure and tightly wrapped. No damage. My husband and I had it put together in an hour. Directions were easy to understand and read. Im very happy with it!

I needed a small shelf to put in a bathroom with no built-in storage, and this works perfectly. Assembly did not take long, and it looks fancier than it cost.

Just wish this was taller. i needed one that was like the brown one i ordered, but it does look good & is a good shelf.

Family member put it together for me without too much difficulty. The finished product looks as expected. i have heavy things on the bottom shelves and lighter books on the tops ones, as there was a slight wobble. This seems fine now. It has been up about 2 weeks. Overall I am quite pleased with this purchase.
