We apologize for any confusion. The Slow Smoker is an attachment intended to be used with the main unit. It is meant for creating those low-temp smoking conditions for items like cheese and fish. Hopefully you'll hang on to your Slow Smoker and consider looking into getting the main smoker to go along with it - allowing you to make all your favorite foods with some awesome flavors! We apologize for any confusion. Our Slow Smoker is an attachment unit meant to go alongside the main smoker unit. It provides low temps and smoke in the main unit for items like fish and cheese that need to be smoked at those mild temperatures.

We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with your Slow Smoker Attachment. This is never what we want to hear and apologize for any inconvenience. Did you experience the issue when pre-seasoning the unit as well? There shouldn't be a high level of creosote burning off the unit if it is brand new. You may want to try a different type and amount of wood as creosote is a byproduct of the wood, not the unit. We definitely want you to be a happy Masterbuilt customer so if you believe there is an issue with your Slow Smoker's operation, we would be more than happy to assist you with troubleshooting the unit! It is true, at certain temps, it is necessary to add chips more often, but it is worth it in the end to get that awesome smokey flavor! All that attention you put in likely resulted in an awesome plate of food!

We are very sorry to hear this! Did you complete the seasoning process prior to using the unit to cook the first time? It is necessary to let the smoker run for a first round and complete a burn off before cooking in it. Also, the interior of our units does not have paint on them, for many reasons. It is a terrific addition to our smokers when you want to smoke items that need a little lower temperatures, but it still gives your foods that great, smoky taste! Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts on your new smoker. You do have to add chips to the unit occasionally throughout the cooking process, however, if you'd like to burn the chips a little slower, you can try lowering your temperature a bit, adding a bit more water, and/or increasing the cook time length. This will not eliminate the need for adding chips to the smoker completely. That will still be a task at hand while using the unit, but it is the best way to get that great flavor from your finished foods!
