Overall Product
I had a Werner wooden attic stair that was excellent. I needed to put attic stairs in the hall and chose this product, as it was aluminum and less money. When I go to close it, the hinge is not smooth. And the side that shows to the room is not smooth, but shows all of the metal hardware.

Great Ladder, Great Value--Made it a "Big Foot"
This ladder replaced a 20-year old builder's-grade wooden catastrophe that was improperly installed, scary and needed replacement. This is a rock-solid ladder and orders of magnitude better. I modified it a bit, as I have size 14 boots. The insulation under the ladder is appreciated, but I made footwells to add another 1 1/2" to allow me to stay on the step more securely. I also added an extra hand rail salvaged from the original ladder to add another safety feature.

      attic ladder
Installed it myself and was done within 3 hours time with removal of the old damaged attic ladder. Much easier if you have another person to help you but just be creative in securing the ladder with strong ropes, level and align edge to ceiling drywall, use shims then secure with provided bolt screws. Once secured , cut to size then install the adjustable legs. Then install mouldings.

      Good product
It was light and easy to install. However, better quality screws should be provided.

This ladder isn’t a year old and it’s already broken Could have killed someone including my wife she was in the attic and started down the ladder and the right side broke loose luckily she grabbed a brace in the attic could have been a lot worse she only had a sprained right wrist.Customer service sucks Don’t know crap not trained well enough to To do what customer service supposed to do I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone

Steps bend, door isn’t wood, poorly designed
I’ve had this ladder for about a month, and the lack of quality is apparent. If I didn’t spend hours putting it up and trimming it, I would return it or throw it away. Still might. Specifically the aluminum steps are too flimsy and are already bent down in several spots. Given the poor design of the insulation, there isn’t enough room for your feet on the steps. The door isn’t wood. Overall quality is cheap, and dangerous given steps aren’t sturdy.

          Two people, two hours.
Pretty straight forward installation. Fit perfectly. Easy to trim ladder to the correct length. Two people, two hours.

A good product with a major design flaw
Pros: light-weight, sturdy, easy to install. Cons/design flaw: the frame is too short to reach the truss. The pre-drilled nail holes can only reach dry walls. You will need to lift the frame up and leave a big gap between the ladder and the dry wall.

            Easy Installation
This project took my husband and me an hour to complete. Instructions were easy to follow and measurements were accurate for our 22.5 x 54 opening. Lightweight and relatively easy to handle. I will paint the pressed board covering white and frame. Very pleased with my purchase.

Very happy with the price, shipping, and the product! Lighter weight than wooden steps. Directions were easy to follow!

              Almost perfect
Pros: easy to install, lightweight, priced accordingly Cons: plywood is about 1/8”, folding up of ladder is tough for a 12’ ceiling height (solution for me was adding a I-bolt to side of ladder to hook a ring hook over that is on end of a wooden handle to push the ladder up with) Note: I also added a shutoff switch for my garage door opener to prevent any accidental openings while ladder is in use

                Design Floor
Steps are significantly reduced in size soon as you get to the door section (you're practically hanging on by your toes at that point). Does not feel safe.

Worked great in my garage. I had the ceiling drywalled and needed to leave an attic access. Installation was easy even for one person on 9ft ceiling although I highly recommend at least two people installing this. Cutting to length was easy too. Just hack sawed the bottom of the main ladder and added the extensions per the instructions.

The ladder that was delivered to my house was damaged. I had to return it to a store further from my house to replace it. I installed it myself and was very straightforward. Took approx. two hours. The quality of the ladder and fit in the attic was as advertised and works very well.

                  Replaced failed Werner Stairs
These were purchased to replace Werner failed stairs that had a hinge defect and Werner issued a recall for and I received a gift card for Home Depot years ago but never got around to replacing the stairs. Today I decided to replace the stairs with the Louisville brand. It wasn’t that hard once you setup your support boards. I used the included weather stripping to form a nice seal and I also installed one of those attic tent cover things so it keeps the heat and cold out.

                    DIY Installation by Myself
Dimensions were right on point for my needs. Instructions were good enough, if you are handy and somewhat experienced. There is an assumption that you've already framed in the box so find instructions to complete that elsewhere (youtube etc). The aluminum ladder is not quite as solid as I'd hoped, but adequate. Overall, seems like a good product, but it has only been a few days.

                    Ugly as Sin
All pictures show ladder open. The door is large and extremely ugly. Beige pressboard w/13 gigantic industrial screws. Why would the manufacturer not make this white to blend in w/color of most ceilings? I will paint but the 13 giant screws will still be visible. I'm horrified by the ugly appearance. I would not have purchased if I had known it would look like this. Not suitable for "indoor" installation. It is inexcusable for the manufacturer to be this oblivious to the aesthetics of what this looks like installed and not include pictures in advertisements. Not happy.

                      Good product. Solo install
I installed this attic ladder on my own in a new storage platform in my garage. I'm a total armature and have never done any construction like this before. The most difficult part was man handling the ladder up onto the new platform, as I am a bit out of shape. :-) The instructions were fine and the installation went straightforward. I had the luxury of building the rough opening to the required size whilst building the platform. It paid to read the ladder installation instructions before building the platform for this reason.

                        junk
Ladder door is made of thin, flimsy press board and came out of square from the frame.

                          Sturdy ladder
Sturdy ladder, the rough opening recommended will require a large 1 inch shim. I used a cedar deck board.

                          Louisville attic pull down ladder
Looks UGLY! No indication when I ordered it that it would be MDF and not wood! All the fasteners show. MDF is not water friendly. What happens to this thing if there's a roof leak or a discharge from the hot water heater in the attic? Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND! I guess my low rating is why i cannot upload a picture. Boo.

A step up over wood and spring models
The ladder in our house was in sad shape 20 years ago but this was one of those projects I never got around to. Now I’m very glad I finally did it. The instructions were clear. Two things I recommend: 1) clean any Sheetrock to the edge of the joist you are mounting to, and 2) throw away the included wood screws and get your own. They stripped going into soft pine with a driver and proper bit. Get two packs of shims and some expanding foam sealant and pick a box without damage.

The locking in place is difficult and you need a step ladder to reach. Not ergonomically the best. That said, the construction of the ladder is great.

Easy enough to install by myself; just lift into attic w/ rope, screw two 2 x 4's into rafters flush with the sheetrock and lower into hole. Perfect fit.

Easy installation. Just make sure the opening is real square. The instructions have the opening a bit oversized. I made it smaller. Measure the ladder frame and use a 2 foot square to make sure it is square. Really kinda hard to install header screws.
                              Awesome attic ladder.

                              Door Won't Close
After installation of the attic stairs, it would not shut completely on it's own. You have to manually push it up with your hand and then it still didn't close all the way. The vendor sent two new struts as one strut as not connected properly.

                                The review you’re looking for
The actual dimensions of the larger model (AA1510I) are 24 11/16” x 53 1/2”. My rough opening was 25” x 54”. My ceiling height was 7’-6 1/2”, so according to reviews this unit should not have worked for me. I had to remove the third section of this unit, cut the second section shorter, and then reattach the third section, and then cut it again before adding on the legs. It does the job, and had I not needed it this short the install would’ve been pretty easy if you consider yourself handy. So can it fit shorter ceilings? Yes, but it’s likely not as easy as cutting the third section shorter.
