It turns out the compressor failure was a huge problem for many customers and a class action lawsuit was filed that the customers won.

Great fridge!
We have this fridge for about 2 months now and so far I can’t say anything bad about it. We really love the craft ice part especially the ball ice. The only one negative thing I can say is, I was ok with this fridge not having handles, but now I see a lot of finger prints, BUT the fingerprint proof part is great you wipe it off and it’s gone. So again no complaints about it.

Not happy
Very dissatisfied with the reliability of this refrigerator. I had it for 8 years. Every two years the compressor went out, as well as other issues. But, it looked great on my kitchen.

Great feature and durabile.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The refrigerator, on the whole, is excellent. It offers ample space and exhibits remarkable durability. However, there have been instances where it unexpectedly ceased operation. This issue has occurred twice now, both times due to problems with the compressor.
Upon consultation with a technician, I was informed that this particular model is known to have compressor issues. Given this knowledge, it raises questions about why the company did not issue a recall notice. I am hopeful that LG will assist in replacing the compressor to resolve this recurring problem.

Poor Unit - 6 years and already not working
I purchased this new in November of 2017, stopped working October 2023. Compressor is out and LG will cover compressor but not labor. 6 years old with only two adults in the home will NEVER buy an LG product of any kind again.

First rate service
I bought the fridge eight years ago - the compressor failed. I didn't want to replace the fridge - LG repaired it!
The technician was great, the fridge had all at risk parts replaced in order to ensure that none of these could cause the fridge to fail.

The ice/water dispenser has to be perfectly aligned to not spill ice or water. If you have a glass the slightest off it spills.

Terrible refrigerator
This refrigerators compressor went in 8 years. We thought it was the ice maker since the readout on the door said the freezer was -4 and the refrigerator temperature was 34. Everything defrosted and we lost a ton of food. I would not recommend buying LG

Not sure replacement is equal to the original compressor.

Don't be dazzled by it's good looks, LOW QUALITY!
Had it for just three years before the compressor failed. It would have cost me more to replace the compressor than to purchase a new refrigerator. This is a poor quality product I would not recommend to anyone.

Component failure
Refrigerator failed within a few years and we lost all of our food and medication. For the price paid, expected it to last much longer. Repair process seems lengthy and inconvenient. Hoping future models are built without these issues. Our other LG appliances have lasted a while, and we are happy with those.

Ice-maker issues

Doesn’t last
The compressor went out after 4 years and had to be replaced. A year later, there was a problem with the cooling and the refrigerant had to be replace. It was very difficult dealing with LG customer service.

LG Refrigerator w/ Icemaker for 21st Century!

Great features but some mechanical problems

Four years ago due to a design flaw ice formed behind one of the vegetable drawers and resulted in failure of a fan and stopped the refrigerator from operating. Thawing of all the ice was the quick fix. Two years ago the same thing happened and a panel was replaced with a new design panel. This year the compressor failed. The repair was very expensive.
