I was replacing a very old unit so the connection attachments were very different. Fortunately I was able to purchase an adapter to accommodate the new connection setup. Install was relatively easy. We had to replace old unit for safety inspection because the house was sold

Good for mystery solving at 2am
When I bought my house the person that flipped it filled the house with this detector. Over the last 5 years I have replaced the batteries in each unit a countless number of times, to the point I have had to start writing the date on them because it is so often. They never chirp - just go off even if the battery is low. And it is always in the middle of the night. When they do go off - you get to spend the time running around disconnecting them all and replacing batteries and crossing your fingers it was the right one. Just as you are going back to sleep, they will go off again, alerting you that you guessed incorrectly on which one has a problem. And because the battery is on the back, you have to disconnect it from the wall (which if you are shorter like me means you are dragging a chair around the house to reach them all) and try to change the battery before you go deaf. Even when you hold down the 'hush' it keeps going if you don't have the right detector. A few months ago our water heater caught fire (it was internal to the machine but the front of it was scorched and burned) and the detector never went off. So I'm off to replace all of these with something that will at least let you know which one is causing the issue.

    Defective- activates system unnecessarily.
It stopped working properly only 3 years after purchase. Activated the system without reason - located in a bedroom. Ten year warranty is almost worthless where I have to send "the smoke alarm with proof of date of purchase, postage and return postage prepaid, to...." TWO problems with that. First, who has proof of purchase 3 to 10 years later. Moreover, why is it needed when there is a date is printed on the back? Second, the cost of postage to and from, starts to weigh in significantly on the cost to just replace it with the new one. If they really wanted to make their warranty worth it, they should offer to pay for the shipping to and from. The reality is, the product like this should never fail and this product's history appears to be questionable at best.

Its only been a week since installation and it keeps chirping mid night. I have had to get a ladder and hush it 3 times in 3 nights. Expected much better from a brand new detector

          False alarm shortly after installation
I wasted my time to install this garbage. It started false alarm shortly after installation. Battery is new and there is no fire around. I would not buy anything from this company again.

Hello. Please call us at 1-800-880-6788 before you replace them. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean the alarm, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. If you have interconnected alarms, the first step is finding the initiating unit, as that is the key. See the owner's manual. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manual. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.

Hello. Difficult, how? You do have to wire the wiring harness plug into a 3 wire circuit like most hardwired smoke alarms. To plug in the alarm, squeeze the tabs on either side of the plug and push into the holes and spikes provided. Call us at 1-800-880-6788 with pictures ready to email to us the issues you are having getting to the alarms and perhaps we can advise or help.

A quick and easy replacement for the same model. The only issue I have with this alarm is that, instead of "beeping" three times when the backup battery gets low, the full alarm blasts three times. Usually in the middle of the night.

Not bad for the price ... a few annoying issues
These are very inexpensive and they work fine in a connected system. They come with everything needed to install. Photoelectric technology is compatible with current fire codes. I do not like how a red LED flashes frequently to show the unit is on. When installing, you have to manually punch out the bracket mounting holes, which takes a minute. After installing, many were chirping like low battery. I kept replacing the batteries and it continued, driving me crazy. This only resolved after pushing the test buttons on every unit, resulting in a system reset/synch. The instructions do not menton this.

They go off for no reason sometimes. We can only buy the ones that play nice with our hardwired system. We get about a year and a half out of these each time..... and still have occasional issues when they are brand new, but there is nothing else out there.

All of a sudden they went off no fire, no smoke...
We only bought our house a couple months ago and all of a sudden this ear piercing shrill sound scared us half out of our wits. I had never heard a non commercial fire alarm sound such as this. At first we didn't know what it was, finally I noticed the red light blinking but there was no smoke no fire and the detectors were not carbon monoxide detectors so we had no reason to think of the sound being them. Usually, all other alarms on smoke detectors we've had have been a beep beep pause then beep beep if the battery was dying. This was an alarm that I can only imagine could evoke bad memories to my Navy veteran husband Unlike any house smoke alarm I've ever heard. I will say that once we realized what it was we could rest assured we'd NEVER sleep through that sound. We have no idea what triggered the alarm. They are wired in alarms and it is the first time we've had that type.
