Easy to install, battery was fully charged, and setup straight forward. Just hope alarm lasts 10 years.

Smoke alarms were easy to replace, Was surprised, replaced my 25 year old ones just a screw driver was all I needed, holes matched the new mounting plate, attached the wires to the house wiring, installed the outside body to plate turned on house current, tested the 2 units & everything works

This was very frustrating. Both replacements beeped continuously. My daughter tried everything, but it continued to beep. Then my other daughter came over to help me do something else, and she heard them beeping. She went downstairs and switched the direction of the batteries, and now we don’t have any beeping.

I always keep a spare on hand since they are getting old and failing. Most were installed 15 years ago.

The mounting plate is not punched out and the plate split when I punched out the holes to mount the alarm.

      Way too many false alarms
The house we bought has 7 of these hardwired in. In the 5.5 years we've lived here, we've probably had 20 false alarms, most of which seem to happen in the middle of the night (for some cute reason). The noise is almost terrifying once all 7 alarms sound in unison and it's never safe to be swerving around at the top of a ladder on our upstairs landing at 3:00am, suddenly jolted awake. It's got nothing to do with batteries (happens with brand new ones - and this isn't the low battery chirp anyway, it's the smoke warning), nor cleaning out with compressed air as Kidde has recommended. Even the free one they sent me as a replacement has false alarmed numerous times within 2 years of its life. I finally smashed it to pieces today, so infuriated with it. I don't have much choice but to keep buying since the house is hardwired for these. Would never recommend.
