Randomly alarms after 3 or more months
The specs are great, so I purchased 8 of these with 10 year batteries. Unfortunately, each one has randomly alarmed after 3 or more months. When they go off, I have to hunt down which one it is as it alarms for no reason for 20-30 seconds then stops sometimes in the middle of the night. I was able to return 2 within the 90 day window, but the rest I am stuck with. Please do not purchase this Kidde smoke and CO alarm as there is no way they will survive one year much less 10. I regret this purchase and the brand has been tarnished to me.

Hello. Before you replace the alarms, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarms in hand. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean the alarm, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manuals. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Try cleaning out the alarms. If you have the issue again, find the alarm setting off all of the others and call us with that alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can get this resolved for you.

Hello. We understand the impulse but the alarm can be deactivated on the back with a switch. If you have issues with our alarms again, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 while onsite with the alarms before you replace them. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Destroying the alarm technically voids the warranty but go ahead and call us with this alarm in hand and let us see what we can do for you at this point.
Replaced units that had been in use for 11 years. The same model is still being made so old mounts still fit and worked. This is refreshing since most products seem to need you to purchase a new variant which needs to be mounted differently.

I like protecting from both fire and CO in a single unit, and networking the alarm will be heard by everyone in the house. I am elderly and uncomfortable getting up on a ladder to reach the ceiling so I hired someone to do that, but it was easy for them
