This item is a ‘no brainer’. Every household should have several. I recently purchased two because the alarms are both a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm. These were replacements for the carbon monoxide alarms that I already had. They have a ten year battery which is extremely convenient. Easy to install. I have one over the door that encloses my gas heater and the other one in the kitchen guarding any emissions from my gas stove. I also need to purchase one for my garage.

What warrantee?
P3010K-CO. Installed 10 Dec 2019. False smoke alarms, once or twice a day for last two weeks, along with false CO alarms about 1 out of 3 times. Cleaned as recommended, with dust off spray. False alarms, verified by 1976 Edwards smoke detector that still works fine - shown in first pic. And a separate CO detector 8 ft away. No store return allowed for warrantee, with costly shipping required to return to Kidde, so no real warrantee for this unit. Looking for something else to replace it.

    Constant false alarms
This was installed in March 2022 in a home I moved to in Sept 2022. This alarm has gone off repeatedly for false alarms. Often turning itself off before we can even turn it off. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve now had to permanent disable and replace due to the false alarms. Super disappointed. This was meant to last 10 years and only got 1 year out of it.

Smoke Alarm went off without smoke
I bought several of these smoke co detectors less than 3 years ago. Today the one in my bedroom went off making an announcement that there was a fire. I checked, nor was there a fire or smoke anywhere in my house. I couldn't get it to turn off so I pit it in a box with some clothes hoping it would stop alarming and saying fire. Three hours layer, when I returned home it was still going off. I read the directions on the back in order to turn it off. Because it's a 10 year lithium battery (not even 3 years old) I had to break the seal in order for it to turn off. Now it's useless. I will stick to the old fashioned smoke detectors with a removable battery. Waste of my money. Plus there's no place to make a complaint or request a partial refund or replacement for this product.

Hello. That is exactly not true. There is a place! Call us with the alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 and we can help get this resolved. It sounds like some dust or debris or an insect got into the smoke chamber of the alarm and the alarm mistook the debris for smoke. False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner). We recommend cleaning out all of your smoke alarms at least every 6 months to a year and at this point we would recommend cleaning out all of your other alarms as well as a preventative. Some of your alarms may be in one the locations to avoid listed in the owner's manual. This would especially include alarms being installed within 3 ft (.9m) of a forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas. We recommend that alarms not be installed near vents, flues, chimneys, or fans. We recommend that alarms not be installed near doors or windows near areas directly exposed to the weather. We strongly recommend not to install these alarms in garages, attics, and crawl spaces as you will get temperatures, dust, insects, and chemicals that can cause nuisance alarms. Make sure this alarm wasn't in one of these locations. Please call us with the alarm in hand
Complete garbage, battery dead, 6 months
I bought 4 of these along with 10 year smoke detectors. I like doing things 1x and not having to mess with it again. I installed this September before my new tenant moved in. Fast forward 6 months, the tenant texts how they can replace the battery because it keeps chirping. I have bought dozens of smoke detectors that use 9v batteries and I have never had one die in less than 1 year. How a 10 year smoke detector dies in 6 months is beyond. This product is garbage. It was manufactured June 2022, installed September 2022, low battery February 2023.

Goes off for no reason and can't be turned off
The alarm went off for no reason and could not be turned off. i had the permanently deactivate the alarm since the hush button wouldn't work. Issue date is April 29, 2021. Only had it installed for 3 months and now it's useless. I hope Kidde will at least replace the unit.

Just installed yesterday and so far am very happy
I ordered this on Sat, 1/30 and it arrived on Wed, 2/3 and I immediately installed it. The challenge was to install it over an existing fixture for an old Firex wired smoke alarm and this mounting bracket fit perfectly and the alarm powered on as soon as it was mounted just as advertised. It has only been one day since installation but, so far, I'm very happy with this product.

Easiest smoke detector to install ever. The instructions provided a 4 step install and it worked perfect. Mounted the plate to the ceiling with provided screws and then just twisted the alarm on. It snapped in place and the alarm went off for a second. The light is blinking so good to go. The 10 year sealed battery life is great. I wrote the date on the alarm, because we will forget. We bought three of these to replace 4 year old ones that seem to be having issues. Very hopeful these will last and perform as indicated.

This unit replaced a battery operated smoke detector that went off frequently when I cooked. This unit fit in perfectly where the other detector had been. The installation was easy. About 2 weeks after installation, I burned something in the microwave and it smoked somewhat. I was happy to see that this unit did not go off for a little smoke. My dog used to get so upset when the other detector went off. The only downside to owning this unit was it was a little pricey.

Easy to install with quick setup instructions and no need to change batteries for the life of the detector. Tested perfectly upon activation. Previous detector would alarm via push of any remote control, this one doesn't have that annoying feature.

I just purchased a gas clothes dryer. Before the gas dryer I always had an electric one. This dryer is in our small utility room and I wanted a smoke detector and a CO detector. I found the cost of the combination Kidde smoke and CO detector was lower than if I had bought them separately. I only needed one but, I heard my neighbor needed a new smoke detector, so I bought the two pack. gave him one saving me another $20.00. The unit was very easy to install. The ten year battery life is a plus also. Figuring around $2.00 a year for new batteries, that saved me another $20.00. Can not beat that! I have been using Kidde products for many years now. No problem with any of them. Looking for a good combination unit? Do not hesitate to buy this one.

My landlord installed this alarm in my condo exactly one year ago. Last night it went off in the middle of the night and could not be silenced. This model is disposable, meaning the battery cannot be changed. In other words, the battery cannot be accessed, because the unit cannot be disassembled. On the underside of the unit, there is a layer of card stock, which must be penetrated with a screwdriver to disable the battery. Once the battery is disabled, the unit must be disposed. Horrible design, especially considering how often it gives a false alarm.

              Hello Scott,
In response to your email; Nuisance alarms, particularly in the middle of the night, are caused by something interfering with the sensor. These units are looking for particles of combustion, so when a small insect or piece of dust gets into the sensor (*located in the back of the unit) the unit will interpret this as smoke particles. We recommend using compressed air, sticking the tube through the side vents and blowing out/cleaning the alarm really well.

I used them on my boat, they are dependable, and I don't have to worry about checking batteries. I got 10 years out of my first detector. once the old one expired I purchased two for double coverage placing them in keys areas.

Worry Free Combo Smoke & CO Detector
The product was exactly as described by Home Depot, delivered quicker then promised and was very easy to install. I purchased 6 units for the entire house, all 4 bedrooms, the hall way as well as the Laundry room just inside from the garage. I installed all 6 units in less then the time I had allotted myself, that is how easy they are to place. We feel much safer and cant wait to see just how long the batteries do last, hopefully closer to the 10 years as stated. I would recommend this product to and single family dwelling

                Kitchen fume resistant
The mounting ring on this unit is strange, only about the size of a USA 50 cent piece. (See attached photo of similar unit with same mounting system.) So they tried something different by having two different ways to mount it, one with traditional screws and anchors, and the other with a central drywall anchor screw. Neither gives me much confidence. To activate the unit, you have to give it a hard twist on the mounting system, and it felt like I was going to rip it right off the ceiling. I really would prefer a different, more traditional mounting system. Mounting issues aside, this unit is full of features. CO detection and kitchen fume resistance were why I got this unit. We have wired detectors in our house of ionization type, so the fact that this unit is photo-electric is a perfect complement for our kitchen area. The unit has passed our "broiler test" with flying colors. No more fanning the fumes from the detector. It can handle a few broiler fumes, no problem. I can't speak for the CO element. That's something I hope to never test. It is comforting to have as a second CO unit in our house.

                Yay, no battery replacements!!!
I like that the battery is sealed & stated as 10 years. That eliminates the reality of me forgetting to change the battery every daylight savings time change. Installation of the detector was very easy, just a few screws in the ceiling. No malfunctions yet as other reviewers have stated.

                No Battey-change smoke detector
Very unique and at the same time advantageous. What is better than a smoke detector that has a battery that lasts 10 years, also the time that the sensor lasts in any detector. Ingenious. I placed one directly outside the furnace room, outside my son's bedroom.

                  Literally Panic Inducing
I was given a set of these as a housewarming gift when I bought my first home which to me was fantastic because smoke detectors can be so expensive. That was a year ago. Within the first few months of having them installed, the one in my open kitchen and dining room area went off multiple times in the middle of the night causing me to have to call the police because I thought it was a real threat. News flash, it was already malfunctioning and giving false alarms because yes, I do clean them regularly. This is the only one in the house that does this and the reason I know it’s a malfunction is because less than 10 feet away is my security system with a built in alarm. What prompted me to write this review is that I was woken up today twice. Once at about 3:30am and again about 5:30am. This caused me to have a full blown panic attack. For my own health I’m going to have to replace these because I can’t keep calling the fire department once a week when it malfunctions and I don’t need to be having panic attacks with my heart in the condition that chemo left it.

Easy to install. I have 3 different Kidde alarms and trust them. Have used Kidde for over 40 years. Very Satisfied. They work! Yes you need to replace them every 10 years. That is all the time that the sensors and detectors are rated to last.

                    abysmal performance
I bought one which lasted a bit under a year. Kidde sent me a free replacement at the start of January 2024. Now, 3 months later, that alarm is signaling that's it malfunctioning. This product should not be on the shelves out there. "Worry-free" is laughable. Now I won't even bother to ask for a 3rd. What waste of my money.
