Special ordered this time because it has the dusk and dawn options for the on and off settings that many do not have. So, with that location and time zone are set as part of the settings. As easy as it is to set up, keep the instructions around for future reference. This timer works great. No issues.

    Digital Timer
The timer is very nice in that it adjustes to the season (dusk / dawn settings), and you can have lights come on automatically instead of having to turn them on. The draw back to this product is that it is a little difficult to program, and without the instructions it is almost impossible. Please make sure to store your original programming instructions in a safe place for future use. Other than the programming concerns, this is a nice time that does a very nice job with my low voltage lighting.

    I bought another one
This the second timer of this model that I've purchased. The first one was to replace an earlier Intermatic model that had given up the ghost. This new model has been working so well that I decided to invest in another one. I use them to turn indoor lamps on and off and what I like about this model is that it automatically adjusts for the daily sunset times, so there's no need to periodically reset (it as was a necessity with the old model). I have set the 'off' time at a specific time and it turns off exactly then. It can also be set up for varying sunrise times, although I personally don't use that feature.Yes, it's a little complicated to do the initial set-up...I had to clear it out and start again a couple of times, but it can be done with a little patience. Four stars...it would be five if the set-up was less complicated.

    Great Product!
I am very happy with this purchase. For years I have been dealing with manual click timers and combining them with a photo cell. These work great to install in a lighting transformer. I know that at dusk and dawn it will turn on/off where as with a photo cell there are so many unknown variables.

Intermatic Timer battery back up device
This timer with a battery back up. This device is good when there is an outage, but the clock and the timer set will not be messed up compared to other devices which don't have.

Works as intended but no manual override
Relatively easy to program, works as intended. However, there does not seem to be an override feature; I have a floor lamp connected to it, and there is no way to manually turn the floor lamp on or off without unplugging it and plugging it into a different outlet. Also, the product was shipped to us defective; I had to take apart the battery and put it back in for it to properly function. After doing that it worked, though.

Versatile timer, great for eb and flow.
Timer works great for multiple every day usage. Can also be set for alternating days or sunrise/sunset. This is my go to timer for accuracy and dependability. Only downfall is the spinning nob, used for adjusting just about everything, begins sticking after about a year and numbers begin jumping all over the place. A little faness and patience and you can overcome this issue.

      Excellent Timer
The programming instructions are clear & concise. This timer works exactly as I expected; including the override feature that I wanted. The programming was the easiest of any similar product that I have previously owned. The knob makes programming very easy! I really do not understand any of these negative comments by others; I have had no problems with the DT 620, and would recommend it to everyone who wants an easy to program timer and one with a feature that allows the user to override the program without deleting or disabling the program.

      DON'T LOSE THE INSTRUCTIONS!
The biggest challenge is programming - it's not intuitive. If you lose the instructions, you're hosed. I use it for Christmas lights. Each year, I need the instructions because the programming procedures are so stupid. It's not one where if you've done it once, you'll remember it. When it's set correctly, it works fine. But getting it set correctly may take a bit of trial and error. A device as simple as a timer should not require instructions to be regularly referenced.

Set it once and you are done!
I previously bought two of these timers from Home Depot. I hate the programming instructions but once done, the timer is on cruise control. Fortunately, once programmed, the unit retains the programming aided by a backup battery in the event of a power failure. Set the time, your location and it determines your approximate GPS location thus enabling automatic determination of sunrise-sunset times. Instruct timer to turn lights on at dusk off at 11:00 pm, or whatever (e.g. Dawn) and it adjusts for changing daylight hours! Each day, if desired, can have a separate program, or each day have the same program. Now here is the feature of the industry. Like most timers, it can be programmed for daylight saving time. But this timer goes one step further! It allows a person to adjust when saving time starts and ends! Yes, our friends in Washington have periodically changed the dates and most timers don't allow such changes to be made by the timer. This one does! WOW--an instrument to keep pace with our politicians! Now here is another tool--programming instructions for this model on you tube available here-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElwQafFklj4 And, the price dropped from when I bought it last year. Only other negative is this timer is not sold at your local Home Depot store--only online at Home Depot.com.

      Perfect Light Timer
I purchased two timers for two locations in my home and they completely met my expectations. They're perfect for security when I'm away from the house for extended periods. I have them set to come on at 05:00 and go off at dawn and come on again at dusk and shut off "after the news". It's gives me peace of mind to know my lights are on and the times will automatically adjust with the sunrise and sunset so the lights are not on when they don't need to be. I highly recommend this timer, especially if you are away from your home for long periods.

Great timer-set it and forget it
I purchased two of these timers from Home Depot.com. They work great. A person enters date, current time and where he or she lives in the USA which determines sunset and sunrise. In my case, I want the lights to come on at dusk and turn off at midnight. You can program it to come on at dusk off at dawn or whatever your heart desires. The unit uses two batteries (LR44) that keeps programming and current times during power failures. My only complaint is the programming instructions could be better. So determine in advance the times you wish the lights to go on and off, then get a glass of wine and ensure distractions are not around (e.g., barking dogs, complaining spouse, noisy kids) then program it. Once completed you should never have to do anything except periodically change the batteries. The instructions state a person has one minute when changing batteries to avoid losing programmed times.

      Not Reliable, Temperamental Device
The product is okay, but it simply isn't reliable at performing its function of turning on and off as scheduled. I've only set a single on- and off-time but the unit doesn't always turn on or off. I've almost always had to turn it on manually by pressing the on button. When I've done this, 90% of the time the unit turns off as scheduled but never turns on the next weekday as set. Sadly though, it's only turned on once per the set schedule -- every other time I've been forced to press that on button. If not for this behavior it would be an awesome product worth the cost, period. I may be returning this product if I can't explain this odd behavior through user error.

      It does the job
This little timer does it all, but that may be why it is a bit complicated to set up. In addition to the on-off by the time and by the day of the week, it also offers dawn and dusk settings which I did not need and. complicated the set-up. The LCD is a bit hard to read but that may be just me. You do have to follow the directions to the letter and if you do you will be successful. It has two external grounded ac outlets which is a plus. Once it is set up, it performs perfectly and is reliable.

This version is much easier to program than the old one. Great product once you get used to programming it.
I bought four of the older version several years ago for a much larger home and horse property. It took awhile to get used to the programming, but once done, the product works great and never needs resetting. (it has a battery to keep the settings when the power goes out). It certainly beats changing the timer every few weeks as the sunrise and sunset changes. Now, this newer version is easier to program and the on-off button is easier to work with. Great product. It takes a little thought to get use to its programming but I am not aware of any other product that can do what this does. BTW, the company also makes a version to fit in a wall switch - great for outdoor lights.

      Best Digital Timer!
I have each day set with times I requested but if you set it to random, it will allow for a 10 minute random on and off so the lights don't go on at the same time every day. Great feature! Works perfectly!

      Ughhh
First of all, they fail to tell you the type of battery replacement. When you do need a replacement battery, you will end up paying $10-12 for the button, specialized batteries. I would not recommend this timer based on the battery design. I returned the timer.

A better version of an old product
The company has updated the timer to a new electronic version of the old mechanical one. The mechanical one failed after many years and this electronic timer has a feature that none of the timers in the store had, namely the ability to turn the connected appliance on or off without interrupting the program. This is the only one I found which could do that, and the programming is just as easy as the original mechanical timer. This product fits the bill exactly. Noone should forget to look online for something they need if not in the store, and shipment can be made to the store to avoid shipping charges.
