Difficult to get enough torque on the nut - there's a release, I guess as the CSST collapses into the face seal, then tightens again
A bit simpler to install than the split-collet type, but definitely requires more torque. The 3/4" especially - with both installations i did, the nut needed a lot of torque, then i felt a distinct release (perhaps when the end of the CSST finally collapses into the face seal?), then another 3/4 turn to tighten again. Definitely will leak if not enough torque applied

Hi, Stretch70 - You're correct. Most folks who are unfamiliar with our CSST installation, will tighten the brass fitting to a point when it feels tight, then it appears to "strip" the threads and tightening becomes easier. This is the point where the raw edge of the SS tubing turns in on itself against a hard fiber washer in the receiving side of the fitting. Then continue to tighten until the specified torque is reached or (in the absence of a torque wrench) until there are no threads showing between the 2 sides of the fitting. This product poses a risk to your family's life.
Any connections you make with this product will not seal - the fact that a torque spec isnt provided should be a tip. The 5 star reviews are people who did not leak check their system after installation. This product doesnt use the proper o-ring seals like similar products that actually work. If a connection does seal, bumping the hose even slightly will cause the compression fitting to deflect and leak. Do yourself and your family a favor and do not use this product anywhere in your home.

This is concerning and somewhat rare given how many CSST fittings we sell via The Home Depot. 1: Torques are specified in our System Design & Installation Manual as well as instructions provided with the actual fitting (62 lb ft for 1/2" and 3/4"74 lb ft for 1";). 2: A vast majority of qualified installers know to check pressure tightness prior to bringing their system on line. We receive occasional calls from installers requesting guidance to make sure all is well. 3: Our brass fittings no longer require the use of an o-ring and are not provided in the package. There is a gasket that seals against the CSST 4: If installed correctly and as per our detailed instructions, the fittings are very tight and hold a seal. Csst fittings (flex gas line)
This makes flex pipe a cinch, just make sure you are ready before tightening down, because it has a one time seal. Twice if you're lucky. Make sure you bond it for protection against ⚡.

Garbage
Of all the brands for csst fittings homeflex are by far the worst. The seal to the fitting is one single retention ring smashed up against the flat metal seal, requiring 65llbs of pressure. There WILL BE leaks in your system using these. Additionally, if you need a replacement seal you have to buy them in a pack that only has one 3/4 set and one 1/2 set which is a total waste and upwards of 6$. I would HIGHLY recommend going with another brand like the one that loses carries.
