The product performed as advertised. I used the product to fracture competent blue granite rock. I went from refusal with a backhoe to crumbling rock with the backhoe. I suggest waiting a week for the cracks to develop, although you will observe fracture lines the next day.

product is great!!! it broke up some really large rocks ( car size) so we could move them out form under the building. it was only 20 degrees out also, and it still worked. ( it took a couple of extra days to work because of the temperature, but it did its job well and broke up the rocks)

My retaining wall was leaning at least a foot out of plumb 8' tall by 10 " thick and I have a building at the top of the wall 3" away from the bu8ilding. The only way to tear down the wall was to dig out behind it and use Dexpan to demolish it. I am very happy to say it is working to crack up the wall very well.

Temperature dropped after I had ordered but was still able to use. With lower temperatures it took longer (2 weeks) to fully crack the rock but still did the job

The product worked as advertised. With breaking rocks, unearthing the rock will greatly improve the breakage of the rock. I also found that the hole spacing is critical to maximizing breakage.

Awesome stuff! This broke up a set of concrete stairs that were 4' x 7' and solid throughout. This saved a lot of effort and time and would definitely use again when needed.

Worked great
Make sure the concrete has room to expand. Follow the directions and it will work.

    Really works
Had concrete steps to remove to build back deck. This stuff broke it up into movable pieces. In 24 hrs there were cracks but took 72 hours to create huge ones. Wasn't a big deal as we had time to wait. Didn't work as quickly on sidewalk. Might have been temperature issue. But let it sit for a week and then sidewalk was broken up too.

I rented a 1" drill and bit from Home Depot and drilled several holes 12" deep into a granite boulder. We applied the Dexpan as instructed and the boulder is now a manageable rock pile! We have more boulders to work on, but the Dexpan is an excellent product.

Bottom line is that it didn't work as advertised and Dexpan wouldn't stand behind their product. There are lots of good reviews on dexpan so I'm assuming I had a bad batch or was mis marked box. The job was a really wide set of non reinforced concrete steps. I started the job using a 44lb box was Ecobust. It worked great - nice wide, deep cracks even with 12" spacing, 8" deep, 1.5" wide holes. Ecobust made it so all I had to do was smack it a couple of times with a sledge and use a pry bar to finish separation. Used all of 44lbs of ecobust and it wasn't enough to finish the job. HD was out of stock of EB type 1 at the time so I figured that Dexpan type 1 was the same stuff and ordered a box to finish the project (temps were 90 degrees so type 1). Same free space, same mixing, same holes but the dexpan would only produce small cracks (couldn't get the end of a pry bar in etc.) and a few holes didn't even crack. Dexpan is a product of China so I figured that it was probably a bad batch or the Chinese didn't label correctly etc. Call Arnie at dexpan. He was nice, went through his checklist and said that there wasn't free space. I pointed out that there was free space (each step section was 8" tall so that entire face was open) and the ecobust was able to produce much larger cracks as advertised on the same concrete steps with the same free space. Arnie said it wasn't their product's fault and that was that. Glad I purchased from home depot as they took it back. I'm only out the wear and tear on my 1.5" drill bit and rotary hammer, and my time of having to drill more holes and having to work much harder to break out the smaller blocks. When it works (ecobust) it's good stuff. But for this job, this was my experience with dexpan. My money and time would have been much better spent on a demo hammer.

Product was on time and ready for easy pickup at the store. The only hitch was I did not receive an e-mail when the product arrived but learned it was ready by tracking the package. It was in good condition. I have not used the product yet so I cannot comment on it's performance.

Did a great job. Drill the holes, mix, pour and wait. Will continue cracking the concrete for several days if your piece is really deep. Mine was 4x4x5 foot and cracks kept appearing as I dug around the perimeter after removing the initial fractured pieces. Wetting the concrete helped after the stuff had worked overnight. Crack size seemed to double in the next 8 hours.

I've used quite a bit of Dexpan as I'm removing a lot of rock. It really does do a great job and with Home Depot's free shipping it is a great deal and gets here fast too.

I have found this product to be ideal for breaking big boulders. I have to drill a 1 1/2" hole, spaced about 12" apart, but it is relatively inexpensive, and no specialist or certification is required, compared to using explosives to break rocks. And this stuff really breaks them! You have to wait a day or two, and you have to make sure the rock temperature is in range.

The only problem I have with the product is the age... the box was labeled with 3/22/2016, which means it is a little over one year old by the time I received it. All expansive mortars have a shelf life of about one year, and after that it is not as effective as fresh. I know this because I purchased one metric ton of it from a Chinese supplier several years ago, and they told me about the age issue at that time. For $100 I expected something a bit fresher.

I used this to demolish a fresh water cistern in my basement that was poured of portland cement that a 60lb hammer would not break. It does take 24 hours to cure.Following the directions exactly provided excellent results, breaking the cement to bits.I recommend this product for excellent results.

          Worked very well
Dexpan recommended using a 1-1/2'' drill bit I only had a 1'' bit. It worked very well I just kelp adding a little water over the holes. it took about 3 days to bust the sand rock

Easy to use if you follow directions. We used it to take out front stoop. Home Depot staff, however, are not familiar with this product. Watch youtube for other's experiences and best practices.

It is great product, works as describe, save a lot of work on the jack hammer. I will buy it again if there is another thick concrete need to breaking up, it is better if concrete is thicker then 6 inches, even it is 15", so happy to see how it work.
