Great Product!!!
Dexpan is amazing! I used a jack hammer for hours to bust up the concrete. The I found Dexpan I drilled the holes at 1.5 inches in diameter and followed the directions and I was able to clean up all the concrete within a few days. It took a little while for the concrete to break up due to Ohio weather changes. I was able to pick up most of the pieces by hand and it made the job more enjoyable than using a jack hammer. Thank You Archer Co. USA.

Dexpan works great
We needed to take out a concrete hearth. Block of concrete was 39" X 39". Jack hammer estimate was $300. Wife found this product on the web. Fast delivery from Home Depot. Followed instructions on Dexpan web site and instruction sheet. Drilled 1 1/4 inch holes, spaced 8 inches apart. Concrete temperature was 57 degrees. First cracked appeared about 7 hours after pouring slurry in holes. Arrived next morning and found Dexpan did the job. Would use this product again

Labor Saver!
We had a large concrete hottub pad that was irretrievably sloping downhill. After exploring our options, we chose the demolition cement. It was delivered directly to our house. The most difficult part was drilling the holes, then it was simple to mix and pour the expanding cement. Our weather was at the low end of the temperature required, dropping to 57F during the night. We waited a full 24 hours before it began to crack, but by the morning of the second day it was done. I have used jackhammers before, and this project was much less jarring! I would certainly use it again.

This stuff is amazing!
This product works exactly as described. I used it to split a few boulders that were probably about 8 feet in diameter. I drilled 1.25" holes 18" deep on 12" spacing in the shape of a "+" sign across the top of the rock. Filled the holes with 2 bags of this miracle product and went away for a little getaway. When I returned about 48 hours later, the rock was split into quarters exactly how I had intended. It was my first time using this stuff, but I could not be happier with the results.

DEXPAN SAVED ME HOURS OF LABOR
Dexpan works! I had 20 feet of 75 year old "blue stone" concrete wall to remove. The walls were 26 in. high, 5 ft. long, 14 - 16 inches wide. The walls flared out at the bottom. No rebar, but blue stone is very difficult to chip away using jack hammers. Used a Bosch hammer drill to make the holes in the concrete. Started with a 3/4 inch pilot hole, and finished with a 1.5 in. carbide tip bit. I followed the instructions for drilling the holes, mixing the solution, and pouring it into the holes. I got the results I was hoping for. Concrete demolition with much less noise and dust then the traditional method using jack hammers. I'm happy! Neighbors are happy! This product saved me hours of labor! I rented a compressor and chipping gun to use as a Plan B and I returned them the next day, unused! I have 10 feet of wall left and I bought another box of Dexpan to take it down! I have contractor friends and serious DIYers that were very impressed when they saw the results.

Dexpan works as advertised
I bought Dexpan to help me remove my back porch. Drilling the holes took some time, after filling the holes with Dexpan and waiting 36 hours I was surprised at how well it worked! Made large cracks in 24 inch deep concrete.

Fantastic product that works exactly as described.
I wanted to build a koi pond in my backyard, but encountered giant boulders buried beneath the surface. I live on a mountain, mostly composed of solid granite rock. After days and weeks with a jackhammer and sledgehammer, I couldn't finish off some of the biggest, hardest rocks. I purchased Dexpan from HD and, after it arrived, I rented a hammer drill and, following the directions, drilled holes into the rocks. The largest one featured here is a whopping 5 feet tall by about 4 feet wide. After mixing and pouring the dexpan, the rocks began cracking in just a couple hours. By morning, the rocks were fractured, some in larges pieces that had fallen apart (see the last picture). This product does what only fire or dynamite could do in terms of demolition. However, this product, unlike the aforementioned, is safe, easy to use and quick to clean up. I highly recommend this product.

Good Alternative to Jackhammer rental
I bought this to remove some solid concrete front steps (the top platform was 3ft wide and about 2.5ft tall). that had developed a bad crack on the bottom. I'm replacing them with a small wood deck. Renting a hammer drill (with an 1.5" SDS-Max or spline bit) is generally much cheaper then renting a jackhammer, and drilling the holes was less work (still work, but not as hard). Combined cost of this box + hammer drill rental ended up being about 1 day of jack hammer rental (jackhammers work good on flat surfaces that crack all the way through like driveways (up to about 6" deep), but breaking up a big block of concrete with one is a lot of work). Another option is to rent a bobcat with a mini-crane and pull it out in one piece but that would probably be more $. Do the Math to figure out what works best for you. You could theoretically use a hammer drill with a hammer/chisel bit (would be easier to wield on a big block then a jackhammer), But that still seems like a lot of work to me. Might be cost effective if you buy the drill and have lots of time. Also determine how you plan to get rid of the concrete before hand. Most yards charge by the ton or by the load. You can also rent a roll off dumpster in some cases. Each bag filled about 7-8 1.5" holes drilled about 15" deep. this kit has 4 bags. The holes should be drilled no more then 1 foot from the edge of the piece, or from another hole. Drill pattens are available online. The instructions say it takes 24 hours to fully harden/crack, but i found that for the cracks to fully develop it takes about 72 hours. This could just be due to the cold weather (make sure you buy the correct type (1,2, or 3) based on the ambient temp). The speed is also dependent on a bunch of other things like humidity. My advice if you don't see results is to just wait longer. They also have a support number that is helpful and informative and instructional videos on Youtube in addition to the instructions on the box and on each bag. usually if you see a hairline crack within 6-12 hours it will become a .5-1" crack by time it is done working. drill 90% of the way through the piece. leave about 1" at the top of the hole (do not overfill, although i did overfill a couple accidently, and it still worked). Additional tools/supplies needed are a plastic bucket for mixing (i used one with a spout so that i didn't need a funnel), A mixing drill/drill bit (they say you can mix by hand, but mixing it, even with the drill, took some time as there is a lot more powder then water), and something that will measure 1.5 liters. They say you should vacuum/blow out out any dust left in the hole, also use a stick to remove bubbles. I didn't do either and it worked. but if you want to you do that you will need a vacuum or an air compressor with blow gun attachment. You can probably use the stick side of the mixer to remove the bubbles.

Busted up a 18” to 24” thick limestone slab. Took longer to drill the holes than the Dexpan took to expand and breakup the rock. Had to add water twice before it broke up and it took about 30 hours to do its magic.

This product worked exactly like it said it would. I only drilled 1 1/4” holes and it still broke the concrete apart as expected.

My husband has been using this product for a while. We had 7-8 feet tall boulders, these rocks were soooo huge and really solid hard that my husband had to drill double the holes to break them. The product WORKS GREAT, it does what it’s suppose to do, but you need to make sure you do mix the correct portions and do protect yourself as it explains on the instructions. We love this product and we recommend to everyone that needs to break any concrete or rocks/boulders.

I had a 14000 lb piece of concrete with rebar that had been a base for a wind machine in a vineyard. Without Dexpan it would still be out back. I tried a rental 65 lb jackhammer but Dexpan was faster, easier and more effective. You do need a larger hammer drill and a 1.5 inch bit. Highly recommend this product.

Excellent Results
Excellent product! I have used it many times over the years to break up Ironstone on my property in Lancaster,PA. I would recommend this to anyone. I rarely endorse anything but this is worth the exception. It has always surprised me with the amount of power this power has!

    Broke thru my granite wall
My order arrived promptly. My target was a natural, partially buried granite wall, 8’ wide at high altitude (7200’), that needs to be trenched. I followed directions exactly, drilling 14: 1 1/2” holes 16” deep, 12” apart into stratified granite. My tools were a Hurcules SDS Max drill from HarborFreight, and a 24” Milwaukee bit. 2 bags, mixed per directions filled the holes perfectly. I was concerned that the DexPan might not work, becouse I was drilling thru multiple layers and strata of granite, sometimes with dirt in between layers. Also, we had heavy rain after I poured the DexPan. Although I tarped the area, I could not contain the rain runoff But after 24 hours, there were deep cracks throughout my wall. I’ve been fighting this granite wall for a long time. Sledge hammer, pick ax, jack hammer, diamond cutting tools… nothing worked until DexPan

This product worked great for breaking up lava cap boulders...
This product worked great for breaking up lava cap boulders (Northern CA/ Sierra foothills region.) I was able to break apart the top portion of a rock that was buried underneath the lawn, so I used the "trenching" method described in the instructions of drilling vertical holes on the top of the rock and then angled holes around the edge of the rock right below grade. Be patient- the rock cracked after a day or two, but the cracks continued to expand for almost a week. So just take your time and let the product do its job. Once the cracks had stopped expanding, I used a San Angelo pry bar and wiggled out all the broken up boulders, leaving a jagged rock surface below grade that I can now put some dirt over and finally have a lawn without the top of a boulder sticking out. I did have a quick question about forecast temperature and which dexpan type to use- the customer service rep was very helpful and knowledgable. He explained that even though the nighttime temps in my area went down to 40-45 degrees F at night, the Type 2 would still be the best product for the job since the day temps were up around 70.

        Unbelievable Results
I had 4 giant rocks in my yard that I wanted gone. Two were very deep and two were mostly surface. I rented a rock drill and drilled around 50 holes and the rocks were busted like crazy. I waited a day and they split even more. The product works!!

          Amazing! Save money and time!
Dexpan works as well as I could have hoped for! Be sure that drilled holes do not have any porosity or the slurry will leak through - as it is not very viscous. The slab was 6-7 inches thick and Dexpan fractured it without a problem within 24hrs.
