Drill Holes, Pour in Goop, Wait 24 hrs.
A company wanted $300 to remove this large piece of concrete. I did it for $40 with Dexpan.
It didn't break it up as much as I would have liked but that could have been due to my hole placement. It was an odd shaped piece. 100 times easier than using a jackhammer. It does what it's supposed to.

Worked perfectly
This worked as advertised. I used it to break up entryway steps. The concrete was thicker than I expected, but the Dexpan broke it all the way through, 18"at the thickest spots. This in spite of the fact that the weather changed and the overnight lows dropped below the temperature range recommended.

Really works
I had a block of concrete in the front yard which was used as a barrier between the lawn and the trees. I tried breaking it with brute force but didn't make much progress so I looked for an alternative and found this product. I didn't realize that this product was sold locally so plan accordingly. The hardest part of this project was drilling the holes. I used a hammer drill with a one inch masonry bit. The drilling took me off and on about five hours over 3 days. I was a little worried that I need to use this product on a weekend that was cold (recommended temperate was 77f to 104f but it was in the 70s during the day and 50s at night) so I mixed the product and poured it into the holes around noon when the sun was out. I read that most of it works in first four hours but whe I checked back about 5 hours later and was disappointed that there were only a few hairline cracks. My first reaction was that I wasted $42. However, I checked back a few hours later and noticed there were hairline cracks between all of the holes. The following day the cracks were wider and I could have disposed the pieces the next. However, since I'm slowly dumping the blocks in my trash, the block has been sitting there for days and now the cracks are 3/8 inch plus.

Impressive!
I had a huge boulder in the way of the footing for an addition on our house.. The construction crew worked on it for several days with a backhoe and electric/pneumatic hammers. They couldn't get their hands on a breaker attachment for the backhoe. I bought an 11# bucket of Dexpan as a last ditch effort. I only had a 16" bit, and the boulder was much deeper than that, but I went ahead and drilled 7 holes 12-14" apart (farther than recommended, but I only had enough for 7 holes 16" deep). After 24 hours, there were no signs of cracking, but the next morning, there were 1/8" - 1/4" cracks joining all the holes and going out to the edge of the rock. The crew could then remove the smaller pieces without issue.

Extremely useful product
This product performed exactly as described. I was able to see results within 6-8 hours, and by 12 hours had the results I needed. It was clean, quiet, no dust control problem, and it allowed me to perform my demo work without creating interruptions in a busy work area. As a bonus, I re-hydrated after 14 hours and obtained additional fracturing afterwards.

WORKED GREAT!!!
After having a contractor stump and level my yard 2 rocks poking through the ground surface so I dug them up and found they were quite large. I believe they were red granite rocks. I visited the Home Depot tool rental office and an employee told me to try Dexpan. So I rented a rotary hammer drill and ordered a bucket of this. Drilled a bunch of holes all over the rocks and when the Dexpan came in I mixed it up and put it in the holes. It took a couple days for the cracks to become visible but some of them opened to almost 1/4" or larger. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to remove rocks or demo concrete without having to rent a jackhammer.

It was a bit cold the first time I tried, but I just left it and as soon as the weather improved and it warmed up the rock cracked.

Can use in small amounts
So bought the 11lb bucket but only needed half at first so just adjusted the water ratio and it worked. I then had to drill 4 additional holes and use about another 1/4 of dexpan secret is after mixing and pouring it it will turn back into dust like it didnt work but if you mist it with water and leave it for 48hrs it will magically split the rock. It works trust me

We used it for a different purpose, to apply squeezing pressure on a cable and it worked. However, a water grout ratio of 0.25 worked better than a suggested ratio of 0.30 for me. With 0.3, the grout was settling down and water was at top, thereby segregation occurred. With a rato of 0.25, that problem was minimized.

Prepped as specified, but 30% of holes blew out and splattered everything in sight. Rocks are large basalt.

Broke the hardest densest rock.
We used the Dexpan as directed. We drilled the holes, poured it in and wow; it did it's work! We will be getting more Dexpan to remove more of this heavy dense rock.

Works Perfectly
We needed to remove a large backhoe into the area to break up the cement. This totally did the job and saved a lot of money.

Exactly what we needed! We needed to put up a couple of service poles for a customer and hit solid rock. We purchased 3 buckets of Dexpan Type 3 (for late November temps), and they did the job! It took a couple of applications to get the holes deep enough, drilling 18" holes at an angle, then putting in the Dexpan and leaving it for 24 or so hours. Then coming back and pulling out the broken rock and drilling more holes. It certainly was less expensive than renting machinery for the job (which was impossible anyway, as there are none in our region right now).
