Love that this door offers a full view, yet still has a built-in screen to allow fresh air. The door itself is lightweight with a brake option to keep the door open, if desired.

I love this door! I will say, as others have, that this is not a 2 hour installation. It was about 4.5 hours. The directions are also not the easiest to follow, so read and reread. Don't mind the reflection in the door, the option for the oil rubbed bronze look is amazing! I purchased the same model, different generation, about 15 years ago, and they have definitely improved the pull down screen function. I'm very happy with the door! Now if Home Depot will implement their credit card discounts for the order immediately upon buying the item with the promotion, that would be a great improvement.

It's ok, but I expected more
I was looking for a nice, but not super expensive storm door for my new house that didn't look cheap. This Anderson door seemed to fit the bill and was one of the few in this price range that had nickel hardware. Installation: I'm certainly not a pro, but I'm also not an idiot for general house repair either. A storm door install shouldn't be terribly difficult. However, the instructions for this install were a joke. Anderson clearly uses a generic set of install instructions and then provides additional instructions in each of the 'kits' for your specific door. This means you are ultimately using 4 or 5 different instruction manuals. At times these instructions are unclear and do not match the items you have been provided. An example of this is mounting the hinges to the door frame. The instructions provided said to use the pre-drilled holes; which makes sense. Unfortunately, that wasn't even possible as the gap for the pre-drilled holes didn't match the gap for the hinges. I was able to use 2 of the 4 holes, but needed to drill 2 new holes. The hinges weren't the only time you needed to drill holes. Again, this is clearly a standard door frame that is used for multiple doors. You need to self drill the holes in the frame for the hardware (door handle and lock). Anderson provided a spade drill bit for this which worked ok. The directions warn you how precise these holes need to be though. You could easily screw this step up and have a mess on your hands. I was disappointed that this step wasn't done within the manufacturing process. Anderson also provided at least 1 drill bit. Fortunately, I have multiple drill bit sets as the one provided snapped in half drilling the second hole (for the hinges that shouldn't have needed holes drilled). I'm amazed that Anderson doesn't have either a step-by-step app built for their instructions or a video of the installation for this exact door that they refer you to. These are becoming very commonplace and wouldn't take significant effort to develop. Useage: I've had the door for about 2 months now. It opens and closes nicely. The pull-down top screen is very nice. Having the screen hidden when not 'open' is a great feature. It makes the door have a nice clean, all glass look / finish when it is hidden. I'm disappointed with one of the support panels for the screen though. The panel has already warped and has a major 'wave' to it (see image). I would not expect this poor quality for a $260 door. The panel which is likely why it warped. Overall: I'm on the fence regarding this product. The appearance is nice enough, but the install process is less than ideal. I'm skeptical regarding the overall durability of this door given the warping on the screen support panel that I am experiencing after less than 2 months of usage. While this door likely beats many of its competitors in the price range, it may be worth it to spend a bit more and get a more durable product.

Anderson Model 2500 Venting Storm Door Closer Bracket Failures
I bought my door back in Jan 2015 and I like it. The only problem is the the door closer brackets keep breaking. I'm now on my third set . The door bracket, jam brace and especially the jam bracket arm are the weakest links as you can see in the photo. Made of thin pot mental they break very easily. I'm on my third set. Anderson door needs to look at this flaw and beef up these brackets with a heaver metal.

We've had this door for about a month. It looks good and neat, is durable and lightweight. The door handle is fantastic looking! The package contained all the necessary materials including drilling bit / spade drilling bit. It was easy to install. Took me 1.5 days, but it was my first time doing this, and I had to fix the old door frame, which was in a poor condition. The kids and the cats love it! We do, too. The only drawback I can think of is that during the last storm the door leaked some rainwater from the place where the sliding window connects with the frame top. But the storm was _really_ nasty. During your average rain the door performs perfectly.

Loving this storm door! Although it says that it is "2-hour easy install", I'd say it takes closer to 3 or 4 hours. It took me nearly 6 hours, but I was taking my time so that I could avoid making any irreversible mistakes. The instructions were fairly clear and with the use of online videos, it was not bad at all. I also liked the pull down screen function that is found with this model.

Andersen Storm Door Self storing screen
Background: Shop teacher and Contractor of 20+ yrs. Hoping my review prevents others from purchasing this same unit and having trouble. Consider a different brand when looking for a retractable self storing full view unit. Very poor construction. We've used Andersen products (windows and doors) while building 2 of our most recent homes and had good luck until we purchased the self storing screen unit from our local Home Depot. The door jambs and brickmold to mount the storm door to were perfectly plumb and solid. As soon as the door hinge side was mounted, the door had a sag from loose hinge rod construction and plastic bushings that travel the height/length of the door. This creates an uneven reveal at the top of the mounting rail as well as the closer rail even if everything is perfectly plumb and level. After making several adjustments to even the reveal and trick your eye + a week of use the top sliding glass dropped from the frame when lowering the screen. My wife and I reinserted the glass into the frame to only have it happen multiple times. My wife contacted Andersen since it's not Home Depot's fault and they did send out another top rail and hinge rail to mount the door to as it was covered under the 90 day warranty. How fun to repair a product that's not even 60 days old. I could go on, but I'll stop there. I've already wasted enough time on this product. Unit was returned to HD and hopefully back to Andersen. Now I have 2 dozen holes in my brickmold.

Absolute nightmare unless you are Bob Villa or Norm Abrams!
There is a 45 min install, and a 2 hr "oops" proof install. Yeah right! If you have a brand new house without an old battered storm door you might get this installed in 4-6 hrs provided you have a cool day, plenty of rest, no muscle aches, and a helper. Maybe!. It took me 45 min just removing the old broken storm by EMCO. And then the fun starts. Trying to understand who put the old door in with weird shims, and a protruding latch, and stripped screws (needed a left handed screw extractor, etc). Missing the nickel plated handle - called support and it will be here in 4 days. Don't bother asking any type of install instructions. The lady who answered had a non english accent and could not comprehend any of the questions i asked. She told me to watch the utube video, but there is NO you tube video for the 2500 series door. cobbled together enough knowledge watching 3 other videos. I hope you have enough recharged batteries for your drill since you will be drilling large holes which will deplete the battery quickly. I still needed to buy 2.5 inch wood screws since the included screws were too short. Also needed to buy 2 dowels to install the door striker rail. Machines openings for the lock had large slivers of sharp metal on the edges (guess how i found out!). I've invested over 10 hours so far and still need to put the striker rail in where the door latch would go into. Safe yourself a mountain of misery, muscle pains, pinched fingers, cuts, etc and get a pro to do this. Unless your a masochist and want to draw out your project over 4 weekends and 20 hours. It would be easier and less painful to perform bathroom dental surgery without anesthesia than to install this door.

This door looks super nice installed. And installation was very easy. The instructions included were also quite clear. The door is really Stout, the latch and handle nice-looking and substantial, and I love how the upper glass when lowered next to the lower glass, pulls down a bug screen with it. I can't really think of any negatives that I have with this door or its installation. Took me about two hours to install.

              Poor quality control and documentation
Always had good luck with Anderson in the past. The door is well built however the detai of the documentation and final assembly QC is lacking. The page references in the manual are incorrect, predrilled holes were wrong and obvious mis-handling in the factory caused some cosmetic damage. The box had no holes or damage. See pictures. Trim does not line up due to hinge predrilled holes in the wrong place. Will have to totally remove and re-drill hinge holes. Very dissapointed. Tried calling support number and hung up after 40 minute hold. Would have returned under normal circumstance however already had removed and discarded old door and it was late in the day.

                Not self intuitive installations
Installed on 5/24/2020. Hard to follow instructions . Many times instructions did not say interior of the door or exterior of the door causing multiple delays. Keep the paperwork together. Lock set, door closure and general installation all had their own paperwork. Never did find out how to re-key the deadbolt after searching several instruction sets. 2 hour installation time took 4.5 hours. By the way, this door fits with plenty of room to spare with an opening of 35-3/4 by 80 inches. There is some confusion when initially reading this specification, as some references stated you need 35-7/8 wide minimum. Lock set template calls out for a 7/16 drill bit. Never mentioned until you get to this step. 30 miles from nearest hardware store, so I rounded out the 3/8 hole I drilled with a step bit. Lock set did not interfere with entry door knob at 40-1/2 inches from threshold. Not exactly self intuitive to this installer, but once finished door looks great.

                  Horrible installation instructions
Nice looking, but be warned. There are bad instructions, and then there are the instructions that come with this door. 2 hour easy install, maybe for someone who puts these in all the time and doesn't have to attempt to follow the provided installation information. We're 5 hrs in, and still going and we're handy and smart. This install is not for the average person, or even two highly educated people who have put together endless Ikea furniture with pictographs. We knew we were in trouble when the holes in the first step did not leave 3/8th of a inch as indicated. Turns out the predrilled holes were in the wrong spot. Latch instructions - awful! Closer instructions... they don't even mention second pin. How hard would it be to have the parts labeled with their corresponding letters and to have pictures that clearly show the orientation of the part? You NEED to make a video and put it online for this exact model. Installaphobia?Didn't have it before I installed this, but I certainly do now. I don't normally write reviews, I think this is my second ever, but this experience was so frustratingly aggravating that I had to share it! It took 2 people 8 Hours.

Ensure you're getting an unopened door
Had this door delivered today and when it was delivered I didn't notice that the box had been resealed with brown tape, the delivery guy placed this side against the wall. This means that the box was previously opened. I was told by the Home Depot worker that you do not want to purchase a door in store that's been previously opened because its probably missing parts. I should have paid more attention when the guy delivered it! Well I had this same door delivered 2 weeks prior and it was new, i expected the same, but NO! It was missing the installation instructions and the 2 plastic installation spacers which are crucial for installing the door correctly. Luckily I still had all of these items in my garage, and I was familiar with installing this door. The door itself is a nice door and looks very nice installed and has very good quality. BEWARE of Home Depot and previously opened boxes!!

Not Home Owner Friendly, Good Door!
Get a Professional to install this door!!!! Love the finished product. Installation instruction were tricky Five lines in and the bottom hole did not line up to “predrilled hole” called customer service to verify to make my own hole with 3/16 over hang. Most IMPORTANTLY they want you to drill out the holes for the locks? This is not an easy task when it comes to metal. Even with the diagram. If you don’t do it right you will have an off center hole!!! They should pre drill these holes in the factory! I would have paid extra for that!!! Still had to make sight adjustments to lock and strike plate!

If you are considering this storm door need to know this; the door jam brackets at the bottom that attach to the cylinder are very weak. We had this door installed by a professional and before the end of the week the bracket was bent. Storm doors should be able to take small amounts of wind. Holding onto the door still bent the bracket. The door I had was 37 years old and did not have this issue. This bracket was cheap and thin. There were few screws holding it in. We had to pay our contractor to come back and replace it with a sturdier steel plate attached with 6 screws. We called Anderson but they didn’t offer to make it right. We bought this door because we thought Anderson doors were quality.

I like the doors. I had a contractor install 2 of them while doing some other work. Installation took them a good 3-4 hours each door. The 2 hour installation mentioned on the listing, I'm not so sure about. I'm pretty handy around the house and almost installed them myself and I'm glad I didn't. Overall, the doors are good for the price and I'm happy with them.
