A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Storm and screen doors are not part of a Federal tax credit for certain energy-efficient improvements to existing homes. Storm and screen doors are not included in EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Windows Program as there is not a procedure or standard to rate storm doors at this time and not eligible for any energy efficiency tax credits for windows or doors. A:  Thank you for your inquiry. It is recommended to vent the insect screen. Slide it up and down several times to break in the weatherstrip between the insect screen track retainers. This will also prevent the ventilating window from sliding up after being pulled down. However, if the insect screen does not retract or slide up and down, it is an indication that there is no tension in the retractable insect screen.
