Tried to use directions and even watched an installation video but ended up just winging it. Only one of the two of the hinge holes lined up. Directions were not clear to me at least on what side of the door the sweep went on, now I need to find two small screws to cover the holes I drilled, tip, sweep goes on the inside. Once I ditched the instructions the remainder of the installation went great. If you have any logic and mechanical ability you should be able to figure it out. I was a little nervous drilling the holes for the lockset, but it came out great. Had to flip to the latch around on the lockset to accommodate my swing opening but figured how to do that in about 2 minutes. Looks wonderful and our dogs love being able to look outside. Very happy with it. going to buy another one for the back door, should take me about half the time I'll give this product a 9 out of 10.

Great doors, love the hidden screens. A little more involved with putting it up. Definitely longer than 45 minutes & really takes 2 people & for us it was not Oops proof. Still, overall we love the doors & have already had complements on how they look.

The door is beautiful pretty easy to install however only had it for about 8months and the screen has popped out on one side and the mount on the bottom that attaches the lock open mechanism has snaped in half while closing the other night now im affraid it will shatter the glass because there is nothing to stop the door from hitting the stucco just something to be aware of not sure how to get or if i can get the part to fix it before it breaks completely and no idea how to fix the screen

This is a very nice door, the self-storing screen is very nice. It looks good. But, unless you can read Anderson's mind, you should pay to have this door installed. It took me 6 hours. Very limited on character count here, but short version: the instructions are terrible, and they require a ton of interpretation and inference. Example from almost the first step: "Attach all four hinge leaves to the door frame using unpainted 1/2" screws ..." No instructions to drill holes.

“2-hours and you’ll have a free swinging door” is more accurate. My skill level is by no means professional, but certainly not a beginner either. BIG NOTE: They wait until after you have a free swinging door to tell you that you need a 7/16” drill bit.

I bought this in September and had it professionally installed. After 1 1/2 month the closer started leaking black liquid everywhere! I do not recommend this product at all.

This door is so great

The rollup screen is great, but the downfall of this door, preventing adding a second, much needed, closer. I did it by adding another sheet of aluminum to the top panel and very thin head screws to secure the door bracket. It closes much more firmly now.

Installed on Monday, by Friday the glass/screen was off track. Not sure how or when since it was fine in the morning then at 6 I went to close the screen and noticed the huge gap between the glass and its bracket…. So mad!

Very easy to install. It has added beauty to the home. Would recommend installing yourself.

Mad does not even start to explain the words I have for this company. It says 2 hour installation. I have built houses and remodeled for the better part of 15 yrs and this door was to complicated for your average dyi’er. The instructions were not bad at all but when I got the the lock as you can see in the pictures there was no way I could do it cause there were no holes to line up the door handle. Since I will not get my money back in this tough economy I fill I got dooped in an economy that money isn’t just available. Hopefully Home Depot sees how horrible these products are and pulls them off there shelves.

bought this door one year ago. its already sagging and rubbing. i had to custom order this door for a particular opening. fyi, $600 for a custom order, as well as a four week wait. i figured Anderson was a brand name and would be well made for the money. Boy was i wrong. i am now looking at having to replace hinges or replace a custom door after only a year. very poor quality plastic bushings. buyer beware!!!

I installed this door 6 weeks ago and it is already falling apart. The retractable screen is pulling away from the glass. It has hardly been used. Emco makes these for Anderson, and Anderson just puts their name on them. You will have to purchase their handle for the door for an additional $55 or drill holes into the the frame yourself. I would not recommend this door and honestly I will never buy anything made by Anderson or Emco again. The installation was pretty easy it took me about 2 hours by myself, and I like the way the door looks, but if it falls apart that fast I will be getting my other doors elsewhere. $300 lesson learned.

The installation took a little over two hours as I was doing it alone, but was not particularly difficult. The door seals well and looks fantastic. The pull down screen is very nice. The door was surprisingly heavy, so I am hoping that it holds up well over time.

The guy at Hone Depot recommended the door already built in. We said no bcz my hub is very handy. Amazingly handy. First rule of thumb take the advice and spend a little more. The door took 3-4 hours and wound up being too short by 1-2". We took a piece meant for outside and put on the inside to make it work. Then, the spring at the bottom (pic included with replaced part) that holds the door open didn't work. As a matter of fact if you open the door the spring would catch and keep the door open and then it was impossible to close it. We took the spring from the door we replaced bcz it wouldn't fix. It looks fine. The screen comes down, but we should have taken the advice.

I really wanted to like this door. It’s beautiful, functional, and is exacty what we needed. Getting it in was not exacty as wuick and easy as the instructions made it seem. I would recommend watching a few videos to get familiar with th process and then return to the instructions when you’re ready to install. So after reading through the pamphlet a few times and watching about a dozen videos, we were ready to install. Me and my husband got it up and in place in about 3 hours. We were pleased for the approximately 30 minutes it stayed put. It fell over the first time closing, taking a portion of our new exterior door jamb too. I went over and over to see if there is somewhere we missed a step or possibly forgot something and I have to conclude it was a product error. I have no idea if it will be possible to return and now have to likely get a new door to boot.

This door looks good but the installation process was a nightmare. A reputable company was hired to do the install & it was a very difficult process. The screen was also a bit too short & had to be glued. I should have read the other reviews before purchasing this particular door. Since it was made by Anderson, I assumed I was purchasing a quality product. I just hope it holds up. Time will tell.

Easy install. Took a little to cut out for the handle, but not too bad. Looks great!

The storm door is beautiful and it took us about 2 hours to install; including the handle that is sold seperate. We installed one of the front and back. The only down side is now that we are getting such nice weather I want to have my glass down so that I can get a breeze from the screen. This doors design is allowing so many flies and bugs to get in once from the gap once the glass is down. Kind of hard to explain I guess but bottom line I dont want flies and bugs in my home or I could've just saved over $700 and kept my door wide open

This storm door really impressed us once it was installed. It looks classy and expensive. The frame is more robust than previous models/brands and the role up screen is great. If I could give you one piece of advice though, follow an installation video on youtube. The instruction manual mine as well have been in greek. Perfect upgrade to 4 season room!

After reading the reviews about the nightmare installs, we decided to pay Home Depot install this door. Upon installation, the brand new sliding window on the door has a bad wrinkled seal on day one, allowing water or cold air to leak in. Unacceptable for a brand new door. Will not recommend.

Overall installation was about two hours as described, and no, I'm not a professional. Hanging the actual door took less than an hour, the rest of the time was doing the finish work including drilling the holes for three door handle with the supplied drill bit, etc. The only drill bit not included was a 7/16". But that aside, the door is really well made and Is excellent quality. Very happy with the purchase.

We loved the door and it works great but the instructions are horrible, Andersen needs to work on that Manual because it’s not “user friendly” at all.

But the hide away screen separated from the frame due to the screen material was too short and did not allow any room or stretching when playing down. No children or animals to cause this. Felt like they were scrimping on product length!!!
