Q:I want to use a double-sided tape to affix very thin wood planking to a wall (less than 1/4 inch thick). I need it to be permanent as I do not intend to ever remove it. Will this work?

          Answer This Question

A:  I don't think I'd use it for that. Tape is very sticky on both sides & grips tightly. It you had to reposition the thin boards it might pull the bottom layer loose when you removed it. The tape is also thick so you would have to tape both sides of the boards completely & push it down evenly or you might have a wobbly board

          by|Oct 29, 2022

A:  No! If a permanent stick is whatvyour after for the very thin wood planking you have then I recommend you paint the walls with the vinyl floor adhesive, it comes in a tub and you can brush it or roll it on! Henry 650R, this is the stuff you want. Home Depot has it!

            by|Jan 16, 2023

A:  No. This tape is designed for horizontal applications of carpet to concrete or plywood substrates.

Q:Can I use this to install vinyl sheet flooring to an MDF subfloor which has been sanded/roughed up a bit? Or do I need to first prime it with some sort of spray adhesive?

                Answer This Question

A:  Roberts Max Grip Double Sided pressure sensitive tape offers reinforced strength to instantly bond vinyl rolled goods to unfinished substrates (spray adhesive not recommended) . Apply the tape onto the clean unfinished substrate (concrete or plywood subfloor). Adhere the first few inches and then unroll a foot or two at a time, letting the tape gently lay over the substrate.. Press the tape for a secure bond. peel away the brown protective paper, apply the carpet, firmly roll the flooring down into tape field to secure. Weighted Carpet rollers work very well to ensure a proper seal. Do not apply tape over finished floors such as Laminate, Vinyl, tile or carpeted surfaces.

A:  I used this and a can of adhesive spray on mdf subfloor in my trailer. This did stick but I heard from another person to use the adhesive spray as well to make it stick longer. Combined it worked super well.

A:  This tape is double sided sticky-can be hard to work with if temp is warmer because it gets stickier. Used this to put rubber mats down in a 2 car garage so on a cement floor. During the winter from the cold & vehicles on it it did let the mat seams open & slight spaces between. Have tried to move the mats back to proper position with some difficulty. Packaging does state "for modified loose vinyl sheet flooring". I would think you would require many rolls of tape for your project as there is 50 feet on each roll & I used 3 for the garage. Not sure if I would use it for a flooring project especially if you have to readjust flooring pieces.

A:  This tape can be removed, but not without a struggle; I used this tape to secure vinyl step covers to the tread of painted wooden stairs. As of today, there is no slippage of the viny step tread covers

A:  This tape is what I would consider semi-permanent. Can be removed but most likely requires using a Floor Adhesive Remover. Maybe even DIF might work (wallpaper remover). Both are low odor and no-toxic so safe for indoor use.
