A:  Thank you for the great question! There is not a way to install the pet door next to the stationary door without altering the stationary door itself. This is because main door may block and cover the pet door from being accessible even the sliding glass door is open all of the way. A:  Thank you for your great question. If your sliding glass door frame is between 75⅞" and 80 11/16" tall and the track is at least ¾" deep, then you can use this pet door in the track.

A:  Thank you for your question, Christine! The minimum height our 81" Freedom Aluminum Patio Panel can fit is 75 7/8 inches.

A:  I do not think a turtle of any size will be able to open this pet door, because of how high the flap is above the floor. I notice some people with small dogs are saying it is difficult for their dogs to step over the "rise" (thing below the flap), and dogs are usually more athletic than turtles!

A:  Thank you for the great question! We have tested the Freedom Patio Panel on dogs and cats, but we have not tested the pet door for turtles. We are uncertain on if the flap can or cannot be pushed open by a turtle as it is magnetized at the bottom.

A:  It is a fixed insert. The dog door itself has a slide in panel if you want it closed. We put a lock on the sill with a small deadbolt that went into the sliding patio door (had to drill about a 1/4" hole in the door) when closed against dog door panel.

The pet door also includes a closing panel so you can block off the pet door entrance. A:  If you are asking if the sliding door will lock with this door, not as it comes. However, there is a latch attachment that you can add to the insert so it will lock.

A:  The panel itself is screwed in place. The doggy door has a separate plastic panel that slides over the dog entrance and blocks the entrance when slid in place. There is no actual lock. Can purchase a lock separately. We use a wooden dowel to prevent the door moving. We have 4 dogs and it has been a great addition to our back door.

A:  Doggy door has slide down panel that looks in place. Frame of entire door fits inside of sliding door side. Use a sliding door lock that clips to bottom of door frame so sliding door can not be moved.

A:  No. There is a plastic panel to block the pet door, but no way to lock your patio door to the pet door. (I just use a piece of wood behind the patio door to secure it.) However, I don't recommend this door in a cold climate. It is single pane glass and freezes up in cold weather.

A:  As long as it lines up with your locking mechanisms on your sliding door, yes.

A:  Do not buy the same size as the door….have to allow a little clearance 

A:  I found sliding doors have different heights. I found on line that Home Depot has both options. In the store they only sell the larger standard height size. I have a 20 lb Mini Schnauzer that I used a small (Doggie Door) for with no problem.

A:  My sliding door is only 72" wide. This panel works great. My 18 lb. dog goes in and out with no problems. In fact, my friend's 50 lb. dog even squeezed through on her belly.
