A: Hello Juanito. Thank you for the question. We do not fully understand your question. This sump basin is designed to hold an (electrical) sump pump to remove drainage waters.
Hola juanito Gracias por la pregunta. No entendemos completamente su pregunta. Este depósito de sumidero está diseñado para contener una bomba de sumidero (eléctrica) para eliminar las aguas de drenaje.

A: I have put my sub pump for diverting the water from under the house and it has been working just fine for the past four years.
by|Jun 20, 2019
A: If you're mounting one on top of the other, then probably so. If they would be side by side, I doubt it. That 18" is diameter at the base. You could give it a try and if it doesn't work, Home Depot would probably give you a refund, I think.

Q:Can this be left outside in the ground through Winter if there is no water in it or will it crack from the below zero temperatures? I will be using it for Spring thaw water runoff (with sump pump inside)but would like to keep it in the ground through out the winter once I fill around it with crushed rock. I would obviously take out the sump pump for the Winter and out it back inside in the Spring.

A: This unit is well made and heavy duty, but as far as freezing ground with expansion and contraction I honestly dont know. Sorry have no experiance with using product outdoors.
by|Nov 2, 2019
A: You can leave it inside or outside, if you leave outside with very little water in it, no problem, more than 1/4 water, water freezes and expands, it will crack.
by|Apr 6, 2019
A: Hello dant36. Thank you for the question. This basin will be fine throughout the winter. You won't have any problem.
by|Apr 6, 2019
A: Yes, it can be left out throughout the winter. I have a extra one that I leave above ground that I use to keep my snow melt and sand mixture. Seems to do just fine.

A: Mine has survived a couple of winters without any problems.

Q:Basin is being used in a hydroponic system, so there is an interest in the type of plastic, especially looking for food-safe grades. Can you tell me what the numbers are? The quickest and most reliable way to check for food safety is by consulting the recycling number. This number will be between 1 and 7 and will be stamped inside a triangle of arrows. As a general rule, the numbers that are safe for use with food are 1, 2, 4, and 5.

A: You really ought to contact the manufacturer because most people that have purchased any of these have likely already buried it/them in their basement floor. There's no way to see the number that you're looking for.
by|Dec 21, 2018
A: I could not find the recycling number on the sump basis. You will have to contact the manufacturer.

A: Mine is in the ground, so I can't check the information on it. The best I can tell you is to stop by Home Depot and look at the ones they have in stock and hope the information is on the basin.

A: I think you need to buy another basin.
by|Nov 15, 2018
A: It's a good quality sump basin for which you can buy a matching lid - it worked fine for my application. As for cutting and gluing, I don't think it's going to work as it's make of the kind of plastic that most glues just won't stick to - especially in wet conditions. You could try to find the manufacture and see what they may have to say. All the best........

Q:How about recessing this in a concrete floor with a perforated lid for the purpose of removing rainwater from a slab outside of the doorway to a basement? Except for the lid it would be sealed. Larger holes would be drilled in the lid for the electrical cord and discharge pipe to the sump pump. Encased in concrete it would be a permanent installation.

A: We dug a hole [ jack hammer ] in our cellar floor, placed the sump pump in it & placed the lid on top. This is more than serving our purpose. In your case being out side a door way; it should work as well, depending how far away you are discharging the water.
The fact that it will be placed out side, concerns me, but it should also prove okay. Make certain the lid is free & clear is my concern.
by|Feb 14, 2020
A: The application you are describing is done all the time. The lid does not have to be permanently set. You can install pvc couplings and piping for the exterior wiring and also for the discharge from the pump to wherever you are draining it to. You want to be able to remove the lid Incase the pump has to be replaced. Don’t get caught up in trying to design detachable piping. When and if the pump fails just cut the piping and install the new pump and use a sleeve to reconnect

A: That should work. If you are installing it in a location where the ground freezes, I am not sure if the tub is rated to withstand freeze and thaw cycles. You may want to check with the manufacturer. Also the cover has a slight convex shape to it so you will need to recess the tub a little below the surface of the concrete floor so rainwater will reach the drain holes.
by|Jun 2, 2021
A: That should work. It is a stout container. It could take the pressure and shouldn't leak any.

A: Hi AledoHome. Thanks for the question. You application would be fine for this basin. We suggest our Model # SF22B cover, The Home Depot Internet #300456934. This cover will serve your purpose well as holes can be placed where needed. Thanks again.
by|Oct 18, 2018
A: You are on the right track. It matters not id the water to be discharged comes through a floor drain and into the side or from the top by way of a perforated lid as long as the fluid is not filled with a lot of debris.
by|Oct 18, 2018
A: Yes, this product will work for that use.

A: I'm looking to build a small foot whirlpool. I just had surgery and I figured I could build it with a 1.5 hp pump and the sump basin bin. I want to pipe a hose or PVC into the middle of the bin. To seal it I was thinking of using fiberglass. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

A: I have never tried fiberglass resin on this type of material. but if you decide to try it, scuff up the areas you are going to bond with a piece of sand paper before applying the adhesive.
