      by|May 5, 2023

A:  It is sturdy. Not sure how you plan to set it up, but I would think it would work.

A:  Yes, there are many uses of this basin, it can be a garbage can, it can be a water fountain basin, ...., very solid.

Q:On occasion, water in my interior drain channel does not flow into the sump basin. I have a sump pump and basin that was installed about 25 years ago. it all seems to work well most of the time but sometimes the drainage channel around the basement floor fills with water which flows to the sump pump hole area but does not flow into the sump pump hole. Often it overflows and some water flows over the 6" of horizontal concrete and into the basin but not all make it into the basin. I have tried checking for clogs in the basin using a nail; still the water fills up the channel without flowing into basin. Once I got frustrated and smacked the concrete with a sledge hammer and Voila the water emptied in to the hole. I used the sledge hammer method on several occasions. However, I must be home and watch to see if the water is over flowing. It happens about 3-4 times a year. The floor of the channel appears to be solid. How do I resolve this.. Please assist.

A:  Hmm. I think the key here is that the system worked for many years before the problem surfaced. It sounds like there is some kind of blockage in the drain pipe near the sump. Maybe a mouse nest or other junk.I think that I would try looking up the pipe from the sump with a mirror and a light to see if anything is visible. This will also show you if the pipe is cracked or broken. If there is something in the pipe, you may be able to pull it out with a home made tool by bending a hook in the end of a opened wire coat hanger.. If the pipe is broken, you will have to dig it up.

A:  You need to drill many 1/2” holes on the basin wall before install basin to get the water under floor into basin. It is not too late to drill now. The water under floor will get into the basin before it reach on the top of floor. Don’t drill holes lower than the top of sump pump to give sump pump to pump water out of basin. Somehow, if you do have water on the floor, drill many 1/4” holes in the basin cover to drain water on the floor into the basin.

A:  Without some further review, my assumption would be concerned that there is build up on your pump impeller. Based on the pump, you should be able to remove it from the basin and open the bottom and flush the inside thoroughly. Look for any objects that may be inhibiting the impeller or gathering in you supply to the impeller, the pipe on the way. If it is not accessable, next time is is clogged, open your sump and see if the water is flowing into your sump from the pipe. It could have gotten something wedged in a elbo that could be gathering build up. When you hit it, it knows it lose.

                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  You need to create a lower point of gravity for your sump pump to sit in so most or all of the water in the basin empties. Your basin then looks like a wine glass. I cut a hole in the base of the basin big enough for my sump pump to sit in. I then glued a rubberized my addition to the smaller plastic basin that my pump now sits in. This will releave your basin. Or...you could replace your 25 year old pump with an newer pump that drains down to an 1/8 inch. Also, use a pumbler's nylon sock to wrap around your basin so no dirt or debris enters around your pump. Good luck.

A:  It is about 1/4 inch, but you don't have to worry about it since there are 4 threaded female sockets on the sump basin to secure the lid to it.

A:  No you will need to research for a deeper basin or look into a 20 inch pvc pipe or tubing w a compatable cap for bottom and lid

A:  Humm I think that I would buy a bigger height basin, or go to some piping store and see about getting a 7 or 8 foot length of 20 pvc pipe, glue a 20 cap cap on bottom or (one end) then either make your lid (cap) or buy another cap. remember to drill holes for water to enter this tube

                                by|May 5, 2023

A:  Bury it as deep as you want. The height the pump will need to push water would be the limiting factor, I'd assume.

A:  Sure as long as you have a good pump to pump at lease 10 feet or more up without loosing volume per minute.
