        Answer This Question

A:  It is moderately difficult to install, mainly depending on your supply valve under the sink and there are a number of water lines that need to be "plugged in" correctly after being trimmed to length. I had to buy a new supply valve to make the installation work ($12). The 2 filters need to be changed every 6 months, the 3rd every year.

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  The pre/post filters will need to be replaced every 6 months, while the center membrane should be replaced every 2-3 years. This system allows for an easy, DIY installation but some plumbing experience may be required.

          amazing taste, even better performance
INSTALLATION The system is basically 3 sections: The filter, the faucet and the tank. Assuming you have a hole drilled in your counter, and room under your sink, this installation is a piece of cake. Those two items could cause headaches if you don't have them. Luckily, i had a hole ready and plenty of room, so the installation took about an hour. Hoses are color coded making connection of this system literally fool-proof. Awesome! Filters screw in easily, and different connections ensure that they go into the correct slots. The instructions are very detailed and illustrated, eliminating any guess work what so ever. They also included step-by-step instructions for proper sanitizing, cleaning and purging of the system. USE Using the system couldn't be easier. Simply turn the handle, and clean, filtered water abundantly flows out of the faucet. The tank holds a TREMENDOUS amount of water that could easily fill half a dozen or more pint glasses. That's all there is to it! The faucet base has a blinking LED / timer that reminds you to replace the filters every 6 months. Probably not necessary, but it doesn't blink annoying regularly, so no issues here. The faucet is tall, allowing filling of even the tallest glasses & cups. Of all the components, the faucet is probably the one that is least sturdy. The entire body & mounting of the faucet is made of plastic. The main head of the faucet wobbles around excessively, and the pieces can come apart with little effort. I would have liked this most visible part of the osmosis system to be more sturdy. It looks good, but i wonder how this plastic will stand the test of time, cleaning, and hard water. SUMMARY Installation is simple, provided you have a hole to install the faucet and room under the sink. Faucet is plastic and not very sturdy. Performance is excellent, and the taste of the water is absolutely wonderful.

          Good pressure, water quality
This filtration system was pretty straight-forward to install. A couple concerns - one is that the valve included did not work with my supply line setup so I had to buy one at another store for about $12 (Watts LFP-467CS) and two is that the directions are a bit unclear as to hookups of the hoses as well as pressure testing steps were a bit confusing. Now that the faucet is installed we love it.

Easy install - Easier Filter Change
The product is not terrible to self install and with a little plumbing knowledge the system went in under an hour. If you have no idea, take photos with your phone of under the sink and your plumbing fittings and bring them with you to Depot. Be sure to use something as a reference for determining size. During install, color coding the installation guide would be a big help, and you might even want to label that yourself before starting. The drain connection is probably going to be the more difficult process for most and limited vertical distance can limit the install using the parts that come with the system. I highly recommend adding shutoffs to the system at the supply and out to the pressure tank. The pressure tank stores adequate supply for a family of 4 and 2 dogs to drink everyday. I used to have the older model that required disassemble to change the filters and this is superior in every way to that. Simple unscrew the filter, pull it out and insert the new.

          What a difference this made
The well water in our home tasted very bad and smelled funny also. Instead of having a professional plumber install a whole house water filtration system as we had in our previous home, we elected to save the cash and do it ourselves. Well , after research on line we searched Home Depot lowes and some of the hardware stores for a filter system we settled on the RO system by Glacier Bay. What a difference and for a very. Reasonable price. I'm not a plumber but was very easy to install and now we are able to drink the water from the separate tap. To me it was a very good investment.

          Amazed! Great tasting purified water.
The PREMIUM REVERSE OSMOSIS DRINKING WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM is a great investment. We had our water tested and it is doing its work. Installation is easy. It does occupy space, but in my opinion, for its purpose, it takes very little space. Compared to other filters, these are inexpensive, design saves space and they are extremely easy to replace. Fits beautifully, in the cabinet under our sink. The faucet design is beautiful, sturdy and it adds a nice touch to our kitchen. No more trips to the coin water dispensers.

          Clean water
I'm very accustomed to reverse osmosis water. We have a unit in the ranch house, and this unit was to go in my workshop where I have a coffee maker set up. I'm a little envious of this unit as it is far superior to the one in the house. Conventional reverse osmosis filters have hard to reach filters to replace, that require you to crawl around under the sink. This unit contains 3 filters in a single to reach housing, that need not be stored right next to the tank. I installed this in a very small space in a very small vanity, it fit perfectly, even though I had a small water heater in there already. Installation was very simple, everything you need is supplied. It took me about 15 minutes to fully install. It would have been much quicker if the manufacturer had supplied a Tee feed adaptor that mounted to the shutoff valve rather than the faucet end of the supply line (this would have saved me having to reach up behind the sink to undo the supply line and insert the Tee. The faucet swivels a full 360 degrees, and a 90 degree turn of the handle turns the water on and off. A really smart feature is the faucet contains a 6 month timer that counts down and flashes an LED when it is time to change the filters. I frequently forget to change the filter on-time in the house, so this was a nice feature to have. I use this system on my water well fed home, but it is perfectly suited for cleaning up city provided water and getting rid of that horrible chlorine taste.

          More than one possible use
I have a bit of an unconventional use for this reverse osmosis system. Most people install these systems under their sink or in their RV so they have on demand access to clean drinking water. I, on the other hand, use this to purify my water for brewing beer. Depending on the style of beer I'm making, I need the minerals and salts to be set at a certain level per gallon. City water is perfectly fine to brew an average tasting beer with, but the level of minerals and salts and especially Chlorine can vary and add off flavors to the finished product. Now with this 3 stage reverse osmosis filtration system I can filter my water to a much better degree than just a carbon filter and then add the required salts and minerals afterward. No more going and buying gallons of purified water from the local water purification company. I could run it right from the garden hose if I wanted to. In about 12 hours or so I have enough water to begin brewing. When I need filtered water I just turn on the water supply to it and let the excess water drain into my sump pump in my basement. It takes a while to generate the amount of water I need but sometimes I can just let it run overnight and then finish the next day. Once finished, I drain out the left over water and let the unit dry. My unit is not permanently installed nor assembled so I can take it apart for easy storage. Every once in a while this system will dump water down the drain. This is just how these reverse osmosis systems work. For every gallon of pure water you get, one to three gallons must be consumed. If you pay a lot for your water or have a limited amount of water available, such as, out in the woods in an RV with a 100 gallon tank this may be a concern. My water is relatively inexpensive and I only use this unit to prepare brewing water so it is not as much of a problem for me. I let the drain line dump into my basement sump pump. It is certainly cheaper than paying the local water store $1.75 per gallon of water and having to lug it all home. The system as a whole is very large. Between the storage tank and the filtration assembly you're looking at a sizable amount of real estate being consumed, not to mention the routing of the tubing that makes the connections between parts. Make sure you have enough space under your sink to accommodate the hardware before purchasing. The 5 different tubes are color coded thankfully, other filtration systems I've installed made it difficult to determine which tube should be inserted where. There's very little light inside a counter top base cabinet so being able to identify a tube by its color is a welcome design. Included with the kit is a supply fitting to tap into your COLD water supply. Emphasis on the cold water supply as I have seen people tap in to their hot water line. Unfortunately, this cold water fitting does not have a shut off valve. You might want to spend the money on an appropriate shut off valve should you need to disconnect the system but still want to use your tap water. The tubes in this system use the classic "push in" connections which I have never liked. It seems the old standard of threaded connections has been replaced by these cheaper-faster connection setup. My tap water has a distinct chlorine taste to it. While it isn't harmful to drink it doesn't make it taste all that great. The water coming out of this filtration system is devoid of all chemical smells and tastes great. Reverse osmosis systems cost more to operate than traditional charcoal filtration systems but the water is a lot better tasting in my opinion. So far, I am very pleased with the performance of this unit.

          Easy install, works good
Overall, pleased with product. Installed myself. Put this in while replacing faucet and garbage disposal. Did the whole thing at once. New PVC, everything. Hoses and connections for Reverse Osmosis System are color coded to avoid confussion. Instructions were good and addressed different install possibilities. System requires a drain so you will have to tap into your PVC drain if doing under sink install like I did. Pieces needed for this are included.

          Clean Water!
Clean water is so important and we spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying bottled water. Who knows what quality we're buying - I've heard that some places sell filtered tap water! We have a reverse osmosis system at our main house and we use a Brita pitcher at our Orange County condo. I thought it would be so convenient for us to have a reverse osmosis system at the condo. I pre-read the instructions and it seems pretty simple. Only three main things to do and the rest is assembly and running the water. For those who are not very handy, you should hire someone to install this for you. You'll be tapping into the water supply line, drain and drilling a hole in your sink. The kit comes complete with everything you need, except the tools. The installation was pretty easy for me and the only difficult part was drilling the hole in the sink. Here's a step by step. 1. Shut off water under the sunk (hot and cold). Remove the cold water supply hose and install the adapter (I had to install the adapter at the shut off valve, because my faucet has lines coming down and there isn't a place to attach the adapter. If you do it this way, make sure the packing nut doesn't bind on the adapter when you're installing it and make sure the shut off valve can turn (I installed the adapter at a 90 degree offset from the valve handle). Make sure you use teflon tape or paste on the threads. 2. Cut a 1 3/8" hole in the sink. Our sink is cast iron and it's pretty thick. I used a diamond bit to cut the hole. Other material such as stainless steel or acrylic will cut much faster. 3. Install the spigot base. Run the lines down through the center of the base, then install the spigot (I used plumbers grease on the two o rings). Don't forget to install the battery. 4. Replace the drain pipe with the provided pipe. I had to attach mine to the existing down pipe, since my pipe is longer than the one provided. My existing drain pipe was made of brass - a nice pipe, but harder to cut than plastic. 5. Hook up the hoses (they're all color coded, so it's very easy to install. Just make sure the hoses are pushed in all the way. I cut the black drain hose, so it would have a more direct path. 6. Put a few drops of bleach into the middle hose of the RO manifold. Then follow the directions on purging the system and prepping it (you leave it on for 24 hours - you'll hear the water going down the drain from the RO filter. The water tastes great! Just like the RO system at home. The unit has a digital timer to remind you to change filter cartridges and they are so easy to change. They sit facing out and you don't need a special wrench to remove and install them. The water tank fits nicely under the sink as well. For your installation to go smoothly, make sure you have everything laid out. Decide where you want the spigot (make sure it's a flat surface) and away from the faucet or sprayer. Choose where you want to put the tank and the filters. Find out if you can install the water supply adapter at the faucet or at the shut off valve. Get all the parts you'll need to install the drain. It took me about an hour to install the unit, from start to finish. I'm going to try to attach photos of the finished product. Note that it does take up a lot of real estate under your sink. If you're looking for a safe, clean drinking water supply, I highly recommend this unit.
