Q:What if I don't have enough water pressure?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Please call our tech line at 1-800-247-1087 and we can help you determine if this system will fit with your current setup.

by|May 3, 2023

A:  If it says 40, then I wouldn't get this unit. The RO membrane needs water pressure to push the clean water through and the residue goes down the drain. If the pressure is low, then the membrane won't work right. Can you adjust the water pressure at your water pressure regulator to get it to 40 psi?

Q:Will this system remove the Uranium from my well water? And if so, what percentage?
    by|May 5, 2016

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. This system is not certified to reduce uranium from your water, but rather will reduce sediment, chlorine taste & odor, cysts, lead, chemicals, dissolved solids and 25 other contaminants that can be found on the performance data sheet located at the end of the owner's manual on this product information page.

    by|May 3, 2023

A:  Reverse osmosis systems will remove 99.9% of the uranium your water. This filtration system is for your drinking water. If your uranium levels are "off the chart", you may want to have your all the water in your house filtered. Large RO systems are costly, but uranium is radioactive, therefore something that you don't want to mess with.

A:  Water content differs area to area. There is no need to add the minerals back in. A review of the filtering capabilities indicates the hardness is reduced but not eliminated. Any minerals lost you are making up eating along the day.

            Q:Can a pump be installed
            by|Apr 20, 2016

            Answer This Question

A:  I'm not sure if I fully understand your question, but I'll give it a shot. I think you want to install the filter to get good drinking water. Your concern is that the RO filter will be creating too much waste water, so you want to force the waste water back into the water holding tank in your RV. If I have this right, I don't think this is the right unit for you. The way the RO filter works is that water is force through a plastic membrane with super tiny holes. The clean water passes through and the RO filter keeps the other stuff out of your drinking water. If too much stuff gets stuck on the other side of the filter, it'll clog up, so fresh non-filtered water is pushed across the face of the membrane and the debris is flushed down the drain. If you put a pump on to the debris line, it will push the water back to your unfiltered water tank. That's what you want. but remember that the RO membrane can be damaged with too much water pressure.

            by|May 3, 2023

A:  You could set up a holding tank to collect the water then push it back into the potable side. This system works from the existing water pressure. If you were to charge the outlet side the system would stop working.

            by|Apr 26, 2016

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. If you are looking for a system that does not use a holding tank or produce waste water, Glacier Bay offers multiple systems that can meet this need. We suggest purchasing the Glacier Bay Ultimate Drinking Water Filtration System. This system reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odor, cysts, lead, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and bacteria & virus.

              Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. You will have to let the tank fill up again as the pressure inside the tank will need to build pressure to provide water flow to the dedicated faucet.

              by|May 3, 2023

A:  You can let it run, but it doesn't flow fast. It doesn't hur the system to operate it like that.

A:  I had the same thing happen with my system. After a few days of heavy use, it stopped leaking from the faucet. I'm thinking that there must be some sort of check valve that needed to have the air purged. We've had our system for almost a year and other than the short time it leaked when we first installed it, it hasn't leaked from the faucet.

Q:does it matter which way filters are installed

                  Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the top and bottom filters are the active carbon filters. The middle filter is the membrane. Your system would not filter water properly if that wasn't installed correctly. When you insert them, they only go in one way.

                  by|May 3, 2023

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the post-filter should be installed first, followed by the reverse osmosis membrane and finally the pre-filter. Instructions on how to replace/install filters are located on page 19 of the owner's manual.
