Terribly slow, and rude service. Items I ordered online for an in-store pickup were broken to pieces. Went to re-order online and the price had gone up by $50.00. The manager on duty said there was nothing he could do to help.

This store continues to disappoint me in the customer service that is (not) provided. Whether a $5000+ purchase is made or a $5 purchase (of which I have done both), the same poor level of customer service is provided - typically not the sales associates but the management. The check out area with the little lay down area and bagging area make things difficult. The hand held scanners are the worst in this COVID-19 situation because who knows who used it before you. Good luck in trying to find same make/model of item you bought 6 months previously because they change brands to keep their cost down but not the customers. I have tried to speak to management but they only are doing what Regional Area managers and Corporate is mandating - they have very little input and thus very little concern.

I attempted to purchase mulch in store 3828 on 04/20/2020. Due to Covid-19 the entrance and exits are strictly supervised, which I understand. I asked at the service counter how to buy 30 bags of mulch to finish a gas line replacement. I was told, due to Covid-19, bulk mulch loading was suspended and to walk to the garden center to get the mulch and take it to the self check. I had to leave the store to get a dolly, that was outside the lumber loading area, and go back garden center. I was not allowed to re-enter the store in the lumber area and had to walk, the length of the store, back to the main entrance and wait in line again. Since I could not fit 30 bags on the dolly, I went through this process multiple times. Each time the store employees watched and did not help except at self checkout. All three times the self check out clerks assisted is ringing out bags. This took approximately 90 minutes and I was stupid for not leaving at the beginning of the process. If Covid-19 was a concern, then the employees should have been wearing masks, gloves and not be standing next to each other/sharing mobile devices.

This store has all the customers go through 1 cashier and 1 exit from the store. All the customers are together. Spread them out. If a cashier has covid19 everyone going through that line will get the virus. If for example if there were 4 cashiers only 25% of the customer would get the virus. I did not like bringing 20 bags of soil through all the way through the store. I would of preferred to just go through the garden cashier/exit.

I gave one star because the MOD today was NOT very nice or helpful. I asked for someone to help me get a huge and heavy lawnmower in a box into my car. He refused, stating it is corp policy. I didn't argue with him or get upset with him. I say that because there was no excuse for his unprofessional behavior. He didn't apologize or thank me for shopping. I know things are crazy and all want to be safe, but there is a better way to handle customer service than what he did today. The return clerk on the other hand was very courteous and helpful. That is why I would recommend this store.

Can I give this store ZERO stars? I've worked in customer service for over 15 years myself, and this was, without a doubt, the WORST customer service I've ever received any where. Visit 1: brand new employee doesn't know how to help me find the exact matching light bulbs I need from online/another store. Guess I go home with turns out to be very wrong, I come back in, return them. The lady working the desk is clearly stressed, hardly even polite (but I get it), doesn't really know what to tell me about what's pulled up on my phone - asks me how I want the return done, and I specifically ASKED if the store credit merch cards could be used online, and she said yes. Clearly, if I had known that wasn't true I would have had the purchase returned to my debit card. So cool... money stuck on a useless card when I am unlikely to even set foot in another Home Depot store for years. I ask who I should double check with about the bulbs, and she points me in the direction of the manager, Tim (at the East Columbus Hamilton Rd. location). Tim is very busy... busy talking casually with another employee. I walk up and feel like I'm legitimately interrupting their conversation, and actually APOLOGIZE for doing so. He takes one look at my phone screen, points to out of store listing like I'm stupid, I ask again if merch cards can be used and, go figure, he says NO! I ask if it's possible to void and redo the return. He says no. I ask if when the bulbs come in for pickup if we can re-ring the transaction under the merch card, and I can tell that's the best I'm gonna get. I head to the checkout area annoyed, the only decent employee in the store (a man in a wheelchair) also doesn't know that merch cards can't be used online, and another lady at least knows and explains to him why. The man suggests I could have it voided and the return redone... to which I tell him I just ASKED THE MANAGER TO DO SO AND HE SAID NO. Then he at least tried (WOW WHAT A CONCEPT IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!) and asked if I was in the store often and offered if there was ever anything he could do, to come see him, remind him of the situation, etc. I leave calm - which lasts a whole 10 minutes. I get to the car and try to order the stupid light bulbs online, but it's late, I'm tired, I accidentally type the wrong month of expiration on my debit card. It locks it down after just ONE ATTEMPT. I spend literally 20 minutes trying to retype all the information, and it will not give me a second try. I waste more time waiting to speak to a person on chat, and they say I have to contact my bank. Why in the world would I need to contact Huntington when this is a security issue on HD's end? I can't exactly call Huntington at 840 PM. At this point, I've completely had it with the whole week-long nightmare of ridiculousness this has become - just to get 3 light bulbs. I go back in, ask to speak to Tim again, explain everything I just said above, and he does exactly what retail managers and retail associates are trained to do and stays very calm, however, he does not do what quality managers do to, you know, try right/improve the situation in any way. He rolls out a very generic and insincere "sorry" - but not his fault *shrug*. They have no control over Home Depot online, blah blah, I reiterate it's not just about that portion of it. He didn't help me earlier when he could have. He chose to chit-chat instead, while other employees were new and/or stressed/overworked, and then spoke to me in a tone where I didn't feel comfortable even asking the rest of my questions! It was messed up, and I don't care how much the pay is, I would never work there and put up with that crap. Awful managing. But thankfully, I don't have to ever spend a single dime in a Home Depot ever again. What a ridiculous and stressful process, when I had the box to the exact light bulb match I needed along with me both trips. Unbelievable, truly. At least educate the few employees you currently have at the very bare minimum. (...Which is probably what these employees are making.) So, guidelines/recap: No, I did not find the products I was looking for easily, if even at all. No, I didn't get assistance even when walking up to the manager, Tim, for help. I have no idea if the store was clean because I was too caught up in the stress of every step gone wrong. No, associates were stressed/overworked/frazzled/unhelpful, while the manger stood idly chatting instead of offering his help.
