Very good product. This is my second time using this and can say it works great. Note that while wet, the odor is very strong since it is an oil based paint. Make sure you allow for good ventilation and all will be fine. Once dried, the strong smell will disappear. I rated this as 4 stars simply due to the strong odor when applying.

Very impressed by this product. We took the time to wire brush the walls and then wash them down before painting. Then we did a few patch repairs with masonry caulk. After all of that dried we applied the first coat using a brush (we were pretty generous with product and made sure to cover every nook and cranny). The next weekend we applied the second coat with a roller. Prior to using this product there was old mildew stain on the walls that had not been painted in probably 20+ years (by the previous owner). This product covered those spots with no bleed through (even with just the first coat). In our 10 years in this house I have never been able to figure out the water and why the basement occasionally got damp (1 spring thaw and maybe 1 heavy rain every 2 years). Because we don't get predictable wetness/dampness in the basement I cannot attest to the waterproof qualities but it has rained pretty heavily since we applied and there has been no noticeable wetness/dampness. My only complaint is that I wish we would have done this sooner! We too had a similar experience to other reviewers with asking the paint associate at Home Depot if they could tint this product (they didn't know the base) so we just left it white. We also had this shipped to the store so that they could shake it for us but all but 1 of the cans was heavily dented in transit (1 actually split open and they had to reorder it) so they were unable to shake them using their machine. On a positive note I ordered way too much and they were really great about returning the unopened cans.

I have a problem with a leaking gutter and this paint resolved most of the issues however I must add additional coats of this product to ensure a leak free coating. I know that it will take a process and patience and eventually I will resolve the problem. JimZ

I ordered this paint to waterproof a very small section of my basement and paint the exterior concrete wall. It says it can be tinted and I wanted light gray, but when I took it to the paint section the lady did not think it could be tinted, I showed her the website and convinced her that she needed to read the instructions about putting color. Finally, very hesitantly, she agreed to tint it, but she could not shake the 5 gallon cane because according to her she did not have the five gallon shacking machine, she advised me to just roll the cane few times and the paint would mix the color just fine. My wife and I took the paint home and did exactly what she instructed. We painted the entire exterior, while we were painting we noticed there were white spots at some areas, at first we thought we need to do a third coat and the spots will go away upon drying, but they appear in other places. It looked so bad that we ended up repainting it with a different exterior paint. We are very upset we basically wasted $140 and hard work for nothing, this paint is extremely thick and required hard work to paint concrete walls. I would not recommend anyone buying this paint unless the person wants to keep it all white.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Rust-Oleum Zinsser WaterTite Mold and Mildew-Proof Waterproofing Paint can be tinted to beige, blue, and gray. It can also be tinted to other off-white and pastel tones. Maximum amount of tint should not exceed 1.5 ounces (30 ml) per gallon. If unable to mix in a mechanical shaker, you will want to use a drill motor to ensure that paint is thoroughly mixed to ensure an even color. We do want to hear more about your experience! Please give us a call at 888-855-1774 to talk with us.

So to really rate this product I'll need to come back in a couple of years, but the first impression is very good. I have a 75 year old house with a basement with very rough walls so it soaked up a lot of paint, but the product looks great. Scrub your walls first to get all the loose sediment free!

Very happy to receive the paint in just a couple of days. I hope the paint will do the job on a damp wall in our basement. Only time will tell. It is very thick and tacky to paint on. once you apply to an area you can not really go back over it. I felt that one coat left some areas a bit light.

Used it on dry concrete basement walls and floor, intending to cover floor additionally with vinyl floor planking. This material is very thick, very heavy and is a workout to apply, but worth the effort. Application day fumes are noticeable, but gone within two days. So far, happy with it.

Oil based formula is the way to go if you want to stop water. Paint is very heavy on the roller. I tried 12” roller but actually a 6 or 9” would be easier to handle. Smell and fumes are not bad at all. Proper prep is key as the paint is like glue. Tinted to almond color and looks great.

Durable finish for walls and floors. I put it down as a preventative moisture barrier before finishing a room in my unfinished basement. Appears to be handling foot traffic and construction while finishing room in basement. Plan on two full coats to get desired outcome.

My one recommendation is that you make sure that your walls are completely free of debris. I broom brushed all my walls down with a broom, however, this paint has the consistency of glue and as I rolled it on, it was pulling off a thin layer of paint. I was covered in flying sticky chips and my roller was coated with them as well. Use a wire brush to clean your walls if you are planning on using this paint!

Just put first coat so cant say if it works or not yet. However, if this is low odor, I cant imagine what a strong odor is! Not bad while applying with bilco doors and windows opened. But now, at 10:30pm (finished at 1pm) and had to close basement doors, I can still smell it throughout the main floor of the house. Dont think that qualifies as low odor. Also, in a damp basement, it took more than 8 hrs to dry. Even now a bit tacky.

Thank you for sharing your experience using our Zinsser WaterTite Mold & Mildew Proof Waterproofing Paint. One of the benefits of using this coating is that it may be applied to wet surfaces, although this may slow the drying time compared to an application to a dry surface. This coating is a low odor oil-based paint, and should have a much lower odor than comparable waterproofing paints. Some people are more sensitive to paint odors and certain solvents than others. As the coating dries, any unpleasant paint odors should dissipate. Increasing ventilation and air movement will also speed this process along. Rustoleum

Something is amiss here, Brian. Our Zinsser WaterTite Mold and Mildew-Proof White Oil Based Waterproofing Paint can be topcoated with paint once it has dried. It is not recommended for foot traffic, however, it can be used to seal the floor prior to installing flooring over the paint. Rustoleum

This paint does what it says. Kinda hard to put on as it doesn't spread as smooth as paint but do not let that detract you. Great stuff.

          Great product
A friend used this for a project at his home and having seen the result I bought this product with complete confidence. Garage floors are always a challenge. This product was my solution and made my garage floor appearance so much better. I had a lite gray tint added for my project.

This product does not stick to flex seal. If you have poured/formed concrete walls is a pain to get into all the imperfections in the walls using a 1" roller. Ensure you have a beefy handle and roller, I had to go out and purchase something stronger than what I had. They both wore out only with ~20 gallons applied. Without being able to spray the product (called manufacturer - they couldn't find specs to spray the product), it's hard to judge how water proof the product is with all the imperfections in the walls. I'm still working on the first coat, but it was a heavy coverage and still did not get into the various/many holes in the walls. They expect the second coat to cover better, I do not have such high hopes. I went over each spot at least 6 times to try ensure proper coverage.

Rust-Oleum WaterTite Mold & Mildew-Proof Waterproofing Paint is designed to be used as a two coat system. The first coat primes and seals the surface. The second (topcoat) completes the sealing process to ensure protection against water intrusion and mildew growth on the paint film. Mix thoroughly to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed. DO NOT THIN. Stir occasionally during use. Apply only when air, material, and surface temperatures are between 50-90ºF (10-
32ºC) and the relative humidity is or less than 85%. Liberally apply the first coat using a thick polyester bristle brush, or by rolling a small section (3x3 foot) and then using a brush to work
the coating into the pores of the masonry. Apply as much paint as necessary to produce a continuous, pinhole free film. Use a 1” nap roller cover for unpainted, porous surfaces or a ¾” nap roller cover for smooth or previously painted surfaces. The second coat can be brushed or rolled. Rustoleum

cracks in spots after drying. requires 2 to 3 coats. stains easy from leaves on outside concrete wall and concrete steps. my final coat i will have the paint tinted gray so it will not stain so easy hopefully ? it is nice and thick sealer paint. it skins fast so do not work to long. you cannot touch it up until the paint drys for 24 hr. this paint sealer has stopped all the water leaks on the concrete walls, brick walls and concrete steps into the building. these steps are 200 ft long on each side of the building. they go up 3 floors. under these steps are mechanical rooms for the building. the concrete had small cracks causing water leaks, this paint sealer stopped it. i have used a premium brand latex cement sealer paint not sold in the big box stores and it failed in 1 to 2 years. i wanted to use an oil base paint because it works and lasts longer over latex. i told the salesperson at home depot i wanted oil based sealer paint for concrete steps and concrete walls. this product was offered to me to buy on line. after almost the project was finished i noticed on the paint can it said not for foot traffic. also zinsser says no also for foot traffic. home depot web site says nothing about foot traffic ! hopefully this paint holds up this winter. i started this project in july temps were 80-90 and the paint has not fully cured. still tacky deep down. it is oct 25 now. the nice thing about this paint it is not slippery when wet like latex paint. my final coat i will ad sharkgrip from h&c products to the paint on the steps to give more traction.

            worked for us
We had some seepage through our basement walls. The Dry Lok product had failed and was chipping off. We scraped of as much of the old finish as possible and applied this product. This first coat was not really easy to apply. We let it cure for about a week and applied a second coat which went on really easy. All the seepage is gone and the basement smells great. No odor from the paint or from mold. It looks brand new and very clean.
