Answer This Question
A: If there was a sealer present, BIll, the Rust-Oleum Zinsser WaterTite Mold and Mildew Proof Paint will not work properly over it. The concern is that the WaterTite product is designed for bare concrete, so that it can help protect the surface by waterproofing it appropriately. We will not be able to guarantee results when used over another product. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Q:Zinsser Mold Killing Interior/Exterior Primer is "for use on non-porous interior and exterior surfaces." Can I use WaterTite first over mold on concrete and then use Zinsser Mold Killing Interior/Exterior Primer over that and receive the benefits of both?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to clear things up, Danny! While Rust-Oleum Zinsser WaterTite Mold and Mildew-Proof Waterproofing Paint can be used on bare concrete to create a mold and mildew-proof finish, it will not eliminate existing mold on the surface. If this is applied to the surface first, it will not allow Rust-Oleum Zinsser Mold Killing Primer to reach the mold on the surface and eliminate that. The Mold Killing Primer must be applied to non-porous surfaces to ensure that the primer can have direct contact with the mold, and we cannot guarantee that it will reach the mold deeper on porous surfaces. At this time, we do not have a paint or primer that we can recommend for bare concrete surfaces to eliminate existing mold.
