Just brought these home to have them inserted into holes I drilled with a 1" forstner bit. They aren't 1 inch. More like 15/16.

Almost 1 in x 72 in dowel
As several others have noted these dowels are about 1/16" undersize. This made them useless for my application. I should have read the negative comments more closely.

Works perfectly for the project I bought it for. Sturdy, solid, no imperfections, seems to be totally level. My only suggestion would be to not package it in a cardboard tube/box- would prefer less packaging!

The dowel is a nice hardwood but actually was shy of 1 1/4". We also ordered other sizes coming from a US made product that measured correctly and were not bowed. 80% of our order was warped and will have to be replaced.
